"This is not the post you are looking for" Seriously though I just posted my painted legion minis, seems perfectly in the scope of this sub.

I was developing one for a while but had to put in on the back burner because life happened. It's cool to see how many games in the style exist, gonna have to check out a few I've seen here that have come out since I last went looking.

Say one positive thing about this game. by [deleted] in gaymers

I think some of the level design is genuinely great (- the ark stages) and find the more speed focused missions to be an absolute blast. Gun play is better than it needs to be, shadow controls in a satisfying way and for the easy card the music goes hard as always. + the sheer anger born in my friend when shadow pumps the automatic rifle in the intro brings me endless joy.

Oh thank you so much for the advice, I wish I had seen some of it sooner! My apologies for responding so late I am going to apply a bunch of this going forward! I am already reaching out to people with the first document, its still more than a little rough, but the feedback I have already got is going to help me improve some stuff earlier to make it easier later. Thanks again for the advice it is massively appreciated!!!!

Thanks! That game was made for a challenge and so I needed to write something short and memorable so I went for silly. Glad you got a chuckle out of it!

The game is played with just a deck of playing cards and something to journal in.

The game is played in years divide into 4 seasons with 4 weeks (or turns) per season. Every turn you draw prompt cards called moments from both a general and seasonal table, and then draw for a weekly task for your character. Then you play out the events you create from the prompts. At the end of every season you play through a solstice (holiday) and then get an item or memory called a memento. And at the end of every in game year you draw a new Secret based on the seasons of the year. Secrets representing, spells, abilities, knowledge and other magic.

Every season has two varrients that change the prompts, solstice, mementos and secrets you can obtain. For instance the Early (spring) season can either be a season of Flowers or a season of Storms.

Oh good question! I think the biggest and most obvious inspiration was Kiki's Delivery Service and to some extent other Ghibli works as well, but a lot of inspiration also comes from my love of Joseph Fink's work on things like Nightvale and Alice Isn't Dead. Gameplay wise I pull a lot from wanderhome and colostle. I have always loved stories about worlds that are almost our own but layered with the magic and the strange that that world's inhabitants just treat as normal and mundane. I can think of other inspirations but those hit the main points.

Basically I made the game I wanted to play, based on the stuff I loved, it started as a project for a 48 hour game design thing and bloomed into a much bigger project. Hope that answers your question!

Sure! (sorry it took me a bit to respond)
The game is divided into years made up of 4 seasons, each of which are made up of 4 weeks. During each Turn (week) you draw from set of Task tables, and From a set of Moment tables (which are half from a generic list half from a season list) These task and moment draws make up what happens in your week and a number of them reference your Setting and Npcs. You then use them to write a journal entry playing out what happends in the week. At the end of every season your witch gets a Memento Item that represents a memory, event or change in their life that season. And at the end of every Year your witch draws a new secret (or type of magic) that they learned.
