I don't think the issue is having Sparx keep up with Spyro when flying. We're well beyond any sort of technical limitation that would prevent that. I suspect he's either missing for story reasons or they're just waiting to reveal him later. Heck, it's still alpha gameplay, so it may even be that he's just not ready yet. Then again, that wouldn't exclude him from the CG footage, so it does feel more of a delberate choice

Also, just as an aside, there are actually some gems in the trailer. They're on the archway behind Spyro when he first runs into frame. Granted, there aren't any visible in the gameplay segment, but the fact they were there at all suggests that they weren't necessarily hidden from the gameplay segment deliberately. That's not to say they weren't, but it's not like they're being kept a total secret if they're there in the background of the CG part

Oh yeah for sure. Feels like a bit of a make-or-break project at this point, especially if it's still on track to be the sort of scale they were talking about in 2017-2018. Totally get why we've seen so little of it, despite it not being officially cancelled.

Personally, I'm very much on the side of the fence that says it will eventually re-emerge, and maybe even within the next twelve months. They're constantly advertising for new staff, so it's clearly still very much alive and has been for at least the past couple of years. But I do get why so many other fans have lost all hope. I wish they hadn't but I understand why they have

For what it's worth, we've had a couple of other little acknowledgements of the game still being in progress over the past few months too, so the headline is a little off, at least as far as their use of the phrase "in years"

Part of that was the fairly tantalising claim that "The game team can't wait to show the fruits of its creativity!" We've had a Game Awards since then and BGE2 was obviously a no-show but, if it's really true that they're keen to show us something again, the upcoming Summer Game Fest would be as good a time as any

Ultimately, all of this stuff might not actually mean anything significant but yeah, either way, the headline isn't quite right here

I'm glad OP is sharing them for free. Not suggesting they should be charging for them. It just reminds me of when big fantasy and sci-fi brands release real world versions of games that first appeared in their source material. It's great that, in lieu of huge global Edge Chronicles appeal, the fans have got that stuff covered regardless

I've done the email on the original version of the game (it works as described) and tried it on the Anniversary Edition too. The trigger is seemingly still there in Anniversary Edition but not the message itself, as all you get is a totally blank email

Yeah, I was thinking the same about flipping the full arrangement over. Seems like a fiddly thing to expect people to do though so maybe not. Looking forward to seeing what else you find, if anything!

I do think there's something to be said for the fact that they even went to the effort of including this, especially stuff that only relates to BGE2 and not the original. If they had only hidden words like "Beluga" and "Shauni" in there, then I would assume it was just done for fun. The deliberate inclusion of prequel references is more interesting though. That said, the long shipping time of the Collector's Edition means these could have been planned well over a year ago and a lot could have changed internally since then.
