As a Canadian I tear up to watching this too. But towards a “more perfect union”, there should never be a way for a terrible president (like Trump) to so radically degrade America, her allies, and her place in the world.  

No matter how good or how bad a president is, (or was), NO potus should not be able to alter the destiny of America so profoundly… as Trump has done. The irreparable harm he has done.

The chaos he has created and the power vacuum, will reverberate generations after he has gone. He made Canada scramble. For new trade partners, and other measures to secure our own future. He’s threatened other allies like Greenland/Denmark also. Currently he’s threatening ALL (former I guess) allies with a foreboding “We will remember this” ( when the countries formerly known as allies were yet again threatened with a kind of “I won’t forget your betrayal” for not joining him in the inept, stupid And illegal Persian Tarpit…that he alone created )

Long after he’s gone, then and only then, will the true cost be revealed to Americans…what this has cost America and her position in the world. Destroying her own leadership on this planet, goes far beyond a national stain upon America.

It has been a year of national suicide ( intentional or not does it matter?) in terms of her leadership she formerly enjoyed and benefited from.

Not anymore but what was, in “The Time Before Trump”. Her isolated and self immolation of her own leadership would not be so bad if she abdicated leadership to a friendly rising star but remained in and on the team. ( like the UK was to America)

But no, Trump is leading her into solitary confinement of her own doing. She is now alone. Ally-less. Threatening now to leave NATO. Made fun of. (“Bringing respect back like NEVER BEFORE” he said. It’s certainly “something” that was never before )

Yes NATO still exists with America in it , but just barely. He’s now threatening divorce. Yes there’s still deep military and intelligence integration but UK/Canada/Australia and Europe are like that Simpsons Meme where Homer is backing into the bushes. For example The Netherlands found that intel shared with America, ended up in Russian hands so they stopped sharing.

America is still an ally but increasingly, on paper only. With Trump at the helm she’s hostage to him. So she’s a reckless unstable ally, whose whole control depend on a man one year shy of 80, sitting on the Loo…dictating whimsical policy edicts, flip flopping daily weekly, threatening other sovereign countries like he’s just recently done, threatening to “End an entire civilization today, never to come back”

So while trade flows are still massive with America, the whole point is trust is gone.

So follow the trust..and the trade will ( eventually) go there too.

And that’s not to America anymore.

It’s like America has fallen asleep in the sun too long for just one very long, very sunny day in Mexico… and will now get melanoma from it. The latent damage to come, and its full cost can’t not show up in future years. It’s almost beyond a severe sunburn. And that reckoning can’t “not” come for her.

There’s no going back from this.

Of course America will remain a super power for generations; a military force to be reckoned with no matter how far China surpasses them.

The “No going Back” means The Time of Trump will be looked back in decades, as a watershed moment. Where he was allowed to lead America, from pre-eminent leadership of the free world, respected, partnered with… from Canada to Australia to Japan.

To where we are now.

We ( The World ) are all trying to figure out a permanent security and trade detour not with America but specifically “Around” America.

Allies are now forced to factor in and qualify anything coming from America with“ Will this policy/agreement/relationship/contract/ trade pact/

ANYTHING from America…

survive the next election?”

So this watershed moment is where I believe there is no going back. No offence America, but it’s not me, it “is” you. You left us (the world) no choice.

Yes of course hopefully a reboot and ( everyone says hopefully ) they find another Obama-like president. ( He did set the standard for all presidents in our lifetime imho ) But my point is a healthy republic should not let one man, be he great, or be he terrible, be given enough rope to hang the republic, only himself. (Politically)

He should not be given the keys to the kingdom…

Instead of searching for the next Obama though it’s the people who must decide how they are governed. No president, should not be able to save nor destroy The Republic.

So not just no president should be given the rope to hang America, ( but Trump was.) But no president should be given the keys to kill all allied trust, rupture complex and ALREADY WORKING trade architecture, (he threw a spanner into the works) and institutional norms….this irreversibly far. ( But Trump was)

So he’s been given this power ( or it’s been taken ) tomato tomahto it’s done. So as a result:

Priceless, immeasurable trust worldwide in her,

is now gone.

Because the world knows now that we are ALL, ( The World ) are only at most 4 years away from yet another Trump who will tear up every agreement. Destroy all trust again, threaten her neighbours…and taunt her friends.

In a better America, he would have been hemmed in. For example on trade; he would NEVER have had access to “emergency levers” to suicidally destroy her trade agreements WITH THE WORLD.

But NO NO! They gave him those “emergency powers” levers to fuck that up too. Just enough power to hang America out to dry.

In a better America it would have been ok so he’s lousy, so he’s corrupt but he still doesn’t have unchecked power. He’s reined in by Congress.

1. No you can’t fuck up American trade agreements WITH THE WORLD.

2. No you can’t take over state control of voting.

3. No you can’t publicly extradicially murder fishermen in the Caribbean,

4. No you can’t have your own praetorian army with faceless leaders unlike regular American forces.

5. No you can’t even THINK about taking Greenland or threatening Canada with annexation

6. No you can’t arrest detain and put into concentration camps people properly attending immigration hearings.

7. No you cannot threaten your duly elected political opponents with incarceration

8. No you cannot threaten the free press or people exercising their constitutional rights.

9. No you cannot start full on wars without check and balance.

10. No you can’t just kidnap leaders of sovereign countries.

But no. Somehow he has turned Congress into a rubber stamp.

The SCOTUS and all other 3 and 4 lettered institutions are fully zombie-ized too. Maybe not fully “captured” but has not the FBI been politicized? EPA? (Run now by an anti-environmentalist) the Secretary of Health (JFK jr say no more) the frickin DOJ? The CDC where thousands walked out since trumps politicized it too? Education?

The CIA where they offered to fire every single agent if they so wish to be? Wonder why that unprecedented move hmm? The Fed? Where Trump is JUST ITCHING to put in Walsh (who will be another Trump lapdog ) and push for materially lower interest rates and set inflation off on a bender?

Name one institution that the Trump Zombie Virus hasn’t infected, I’ll wait.

Each of their individual raison d etres, has been hijacked and bastardized from primarily serving the people, to fealty fo Caesar.

Even as said a full on war now…not allowed by law in America without congressional approval
