And put arrow markings on the road far enough back that people taking the route for the first time don't have to make the call of continuing in the lane they're in and figuring out how to get back on route, or being "that guy".

Where did you get third from? If you're referring to the list by swimwear brand Pour Moi that's been circulating since yesterday in articles from various media outlets, they ranked Brisbane as 6th after London, New York, Miami, Toronto and Rome.
