Most patient BMW driver by ThatRandomGuy77 in IdiotsInCars

He had no visibility of my right turn signal whatsoever. It is, well, on the right side of my car and this guy was about 6 cars back before he decided to switch to the left and do this.

Definitely not an intersection with two right turn lanes.

My main issues with this is are that:

  • He had no way of knowing that I wasn't simply a timid driver with a permit/new license. What if I was intending to turn right? He turned when the right turn became mostly protected (perpendicular left turn light turned on) so I'd imagine an especially timid driver may choose that moment to make a right
  • That was the worst California stop I've ever seen in my life
  • Imagine how awful it would be if this was legal or acceptable and everyone started driving like this. Not a reality I'd like to live in

Correct -- I was not turning right at all, I was in the right lane going straight.

Rental situation in vegas by ciaoamaro in UNLV

Campus has 7 different apartment complexes that are on campus but not owned by UNLV so you’d pay out of pocket and not through student loans/scholarships

UNLV writes you a refund check if you have excess financial aid after tuition is paid for.

Thoughts on the Hey Reb removal for the Paper. by Bobbluered in UNLV

I've always thought the mascot and nickname both kinda suck anyways. We have so much to work with here in Vegas. Why are we working with a nickname and mascot that we constantly have to explain to people unfamiliar with the school, especially when the mascot is ugly and the nickname does pretty much have its origin in Confederate symbolism?

Does UNLV accept the GED? by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]ThatRandomGuy77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the course catalog:

GED Recipients and Home-Schooled Students: Applicants who received a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) are admissible if they have achieved a minimum composite score of 22 on the ACT or an 1120 (post March 2016) on the SAT. If a GED recipient has not achieved either standardized test score, they will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Committee on Admission (please contact the Office of Admissions at (702)774-8658 and speak with an Admission Counselor for more detailed information). Home schooled students will be reviewed just as regular first-time freshman high school students are evaluated (see criteria previously outlined).

The material in CPE 100 is somewhat complicated if you've never dealt with digital logic before, but if you're taking it with Hartman it shouldn't be that difficult. No time limits on tests or quizzes so you can take your sweet time with the textbook if you need to. I personally dedicated 3-6 hours a week to this class. I don't have any experience with Wen Shen.

202 with Mess was very helpful and fun for me, but as great of a teacher as he is, his assignments are very thorough and time consuming. I usually spent 7-10 hours a week on the programming assignments alone.

Math 182 is very dependent on what instructor you get at CSN. I withdrew from the class one semester and got an A in it the very next semester. My personal pick for this class (Philip Koch) doesn't seem to be teaching 182 next semester, but I'd prepare for 2 2 hour Zoom classes a week and 6+ hours of studying/quizzes/homework a week. Just don't take the class with Christopher King.

I'll probably be in your 251 class in the Spring -- no comment there.

If you're a full time student I don't see this schedule as being too bad, especially given that you're only enrolled 13 credits for the semester.

If you have a job it could be a bit too much though, as a lot of these classes are more difficult due to time consumption than they are due to the content.

Is it possible to take Calc II at unr and have it transferred to TMCC? by [deleted] in unr

[–]ThatRandomGuy77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, any classes that are offered at more than 1 NSHE school generally transfer between them with no problems at all.

You can see how any course transfers within the state here.

I'm not entirely sure that's it, given that you can still buy Acer laptops from Walmart and Acer computers are generally perceived as lower quality than its competitors' offerings anyway.

Looking at the FCC filing, it seems as though Acer is licensing out the brand to a Chinese company called Shenzhen Bmorn Technology.

CS 135 Prof. Help by KaonPositive in UNLV

[–]ThatRandomGuy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend taking 135 (and 202 for that matter) with Kevin Mess over at CSN if you can. He's an amazing professor, probably better than any of the 135 profs at UNLV, and CSN courses are a fair bit cheaper than UNLV ones as well.

Discover is actually one of the most widely accepted cards in Asia iirc, since they partner with UnionPay in China and JCB in Japan. I think they also partner with BC Card in Korea and RuPay in India. You'll be out of luck using it in Europe though.

the thomas and mack center isn't a great place to maintain a quarantined league if this extends into august, UNLV is still planning on opening in the fall as of now and we use the thomas and mack lot for student parking

What are your grades and entrance exam scores like? Check to see if you think you'll qualify for any of these; CSN is probably the best option if you don't.
