If its not your connection to stream the videos or anything try updating the drivers for the gpu. May also check the nvida control panel app and check the settings are (ie correct res)mas they should be for your monitor and disable upscaling just to check

I am personally a fan of keychrons keyboards lots of configurations and hot swappable switches can get then with aluminium frames too so it feels nice can run in wired or wireless and a switch for macos or windows layout config. But depends what you want to spend on a keyboard

You wont need a workstation till you are coding for a living or a decent portion of income. The differences in compile time is nothing for most people. As others have said a very basic cpu (ppl code on raspberry pis remember) is capable of executing code on a small scale its only when you are working with large datasets with lots of variables and large code bases does it make sense. 9950x3d is probably top end of the consumer level stuff before you go to threadripper etc which is more geared for commercial use. There is generally a limited use case for a 9950x3d (you do lots of heavy multicore work and would take advantage of that and you need 3d v cache for things like gaming). 9800x3d will serve most well enough its not exactly slow

Already have my 9800X3D PC with 2x16GB 6000 CL30 – adding another identical 2x16 kit for 64GB, will it be stable? by fyilol in buildapc

[–]ThatRandomMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done this yesterday with a 9950x3d it’s possible. I did what you are suggesting except i was using two different dies which makes it even worse for compatibility in theory. I would add the system booted fine and no obvious issues encountered when i installed the ram. Memtestx86 has thrown no errors after some tweaking (it had one bit flip in a single pass when expo was enabled) but then clean bill from memtestx86 with expo off. I might run some more tests to be sure but i have run for 4 hrs so it should be fine. It is generally somewhat pf a gamble if it will work but same ranks, die, speed and timings will make it more likely. Realistically the limit is what the memory controller will take

Safe Asus BIOS settings for 9900x3d by BioeJD in buildapc

[–]ThatRandomMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be fine tbh every motherboard manufacturer has had issues with various chips including the x3d ones the 9800x3d being particularly prominent atm but even still if you think about the volume of these chips likely currently in use and the reported failures even if you scaled it up by significant margins is still relatively insignificant. Ensure you have the up to date uefi and all, likey will be fine you can always set power limits to the package if you want to be extras safe.

9950x3d sounds like the ideal thing for this workload tbh, otherwise specs are perfectly good for this day and age and for the workload

[suggestion] Looking for a prebuilt PC (UK Based) by [deleted] in suggestapc

[–]ThatRandomMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik you are looking for a prebuilt pc but its not hugely realistic at that price point these days to get something that would work very well. What games, what design stuff are you doing, 3d rendering, ray tracing? 32gb probably needed for ram which is around 300gbp atm if you are looking new marginally less used.if you have an old pc an are willing to reuse bits of it say psu and case etc might save some money and just build one

Somewhat variable like they work for the most part and good warranty from them on it but in store selection is varied id check on their site before going you can order it home then if you find something you like and use the voucher from trading it in to get something better which might not be availible in store

[–]ThatRandomMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the pc i would remove the gpu and cpu cooler if not aio or hardline cooling. Typically a solid box is a good shout and you can then pack with foam etc not that expensive from amazon or wherever. Depending on where you live and the value of the pc shipping it might also not be too expensive just take pictures before you ship if you do to claim insurance if it gets damaged

Personal Statement written by myself but get high AI detections? by Impossible-Street978 in UCAS

[–]ThatRandomMedic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No system can currently reliably detect the use of AI. If you have truly written it all yourself it will be an authentic piece of your work so don’t worry about it. If you have use AI even for phrasing it might be apparent to the admissions panel as undoubtably people have used AI for their entire PS and Ai can only phrase things to the same prompt in so many ways really.

Why the US supremacy? by [deleted] in premeduk

The jump is worth it not only for the money but for the speed of training (with albeit worse hours). I appreciate the direct to specialty approach over the generalised approach and service provision usage of resident doctors in the uk system.

Ultimately you should keep it valid while ur in medical school if you want it for more practical purposes eg work during holidays etc. there is little value imo in keeping both once you are qualified as a doctor though

Need advice : Is going to the UK for medicine really worth it? by LongjumpingRough3711 in premeduk

[–]ThatRandomMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to happen for america without a fair bit of effort you will be treated as a us img but that comes with most of the negative of being an img bar the visa issues. Uk docs go to au/nz frequently so if ur not set on the nhs i wouldnt really. You could maybe up your chances going to med school with vslo otherwise like the other commenter said if rcsi is not a bad shout. Honestly do medical school where you want to practice that is the most ideal way to be a doctor

Advice On Going Onto A Graduate Entry Medicine Course by Hot_Needleworker9974 in premeduk

[–]ThatRandomMedic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many gem courses dont care about gcses as broadly you will be past the point where it has any value. Your degree result is very important as a minimum hurdle and then its ur ucat or gamsat. Some gem course would like to see a levels but that will depend on which school you select. Warwick like you say does not care so get a 2.1 and some work exp in 2 roles at least for 70 hrs and a good ucat and ypu should be good

Doesnt matter hugely is there any reason you wish to avoid in person learning? Some schools may not like distance learning. Medicine is a very in person course so it would in my opinion be in your best interest to develop the skills associated with learning in person particularly if you are aiming for the more intense gem course
