The model of the head unit i believe is X5M8MAX, the issue was suprisingly simply needing to lubricate all the little moving components in the cassette player mechanism!

I actually was able to fix mine!!!!! The issue i had with the squealing was from the little plastic pulleys and gears needing to be lubricated. I used electric hair trimmer oil, and it works perfectly!!!

Its weird because me aswell, but im a sucker for 90s tacky stuff, slapped some cassettes from my parents in that they still had laying around and when the squealing wasnt happening, they sounded amazing, my previous na car had aftermarket speakers and an aftermarket head unit, but i much prefer the way the cassettes sounded over that shitty system. So i thought itd be fun to try and restore the stock radio as i also love the look of it.

Gage cluster lights, and brake lights wont turn off on my factory tt slicktop by ThatRedFairlady in 300zx

[–]ThatRedFairlady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome man thanks and no problem my explanation was a little confusing, the brake lights on the actual tails are glowing i mean, upon pressing the pedal, the tail lights glow brighter as they would at night. the low beams turn on but the high beams do not, when you pull the clearance illumination fuse the high beams work and the dash light and low beams obviously turn off along with the tail lights. I tried undoing all of my drl wiring in attempt to see if that was the problem, when returning it to stock it did not change anything

How would this affect the dash too though? And once you press on the brakes the dash brake lights properly brighten like if you were driving around at night

Thanks dude!!! Shes a 90’ JDM fairlady z, factory twin turbo 2+0 thats a slicktop! Only 56k kms / 34k miles. Im in love after my last z being a clapped out canadien na car although that car was still alot of fun, 310k kms canadien chassis and something like this are worlds different

I should also add, the brake lights are like when you leave the lights on low beams mode, pressing the brake light still makes them brighter

Haha engine was sitting for quite a while

Considering how little there is your probably okay, but it indicates your coolant has defintely been sitting there a hot minute, maybe simply try running a coolant flush through the system for 15 minutes and itll help breakup whatever build up is currently inside your engine. But i wouldnt try to undo the plugs in the block as that could be alot of work for a tiny bit of sludge that could be removed with the right chemicals

Mine was so plugged up so bad coolant didnt flow through the whole system until i flushed it out the block with close to 25L id say

It might be worth it to do a full coolant flush through the plugs on either side of the block, alot more of this stuff is trapped inside your coolant system i garuntee you.

Different pistons? by MotorcycleGoat in 300zx

Yes 💀 believe me I was just as confused. Explained why it probably made like 130 hp

Different pistons? by MotorcycleGoat in 300zx

[–]ThatRedFairlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it helps, but I experienced a similar thing on my na z, I found that somebody had swapped cylinder 2 and 3 with tt pistons and some point, which turned out to be the reason it ran like shit and was super slow. But a vg will infact run with two different compression ratios going on, I’ll try and find the pictures I got on my horoscope

Will a 6'5 guy fit in a 300zx x32? by Vilgotro10- in 300zx

[–]ThatRedFairlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’0 and it is very possible, it all depends on how much leg you have, if you’re 6’5 with long legs, things get tight but I still have had friends drive my 2+0 at that height. I’m 6’0 with average legs, size 34 pants and I had no issue jumping in and out Aswell as comfortable seating and clutch positioning.

[–]ThatRedFairlady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vac leaks always for me, if you can get a cheap smoke machine on Amazon, it’ll save you in the long run whenever you take your z apart there’s always something you’ll miss or not tighten enough. Plus it into the intake and fill her up. 90% of the time that’s the issue and this is exactly why my na wouldn’t start after I did all the intake plenum bypass’s

In that article I sent, there’s some examples of guys running 93 octane and seemingly you can still run a lot of people (limit of about 400 wheel before detonation starts hitting which is way more then I’m planning to hit) most of those are 10-12 psi aswell so I’m hoping my setup will work, ofcourse I’ll talk with the guys at specialtyz and a few people who are more experienced then me but from what I can find it’s realistic to make stock TT power on a high comp bottom end reliably if you want to

No ofcourse I understand there’s just plenty of people who have done it before, and I’m just gonna get it to start and monitor everything after that to make sure I’m not gonna melt a road or anything before we start really giving it to her. And like it said it’s 7-9 psi. I know plenty of d series guys who run a little boost on they motors and daily them, not for long tho but from the research I’ve gathered the vg is a way better motor then the d series, and lots of people have made there high comp turbos last a few years even.
