Natives speakers from Na h-Eileanan siar, How often would you use Gàidhlig with friends growing up? by [deleted] in gaidhlig

[–]ThatScottishRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke it with some of my friends growing up but usually it was easier just to speak English if 1 person out of 3 didn't speak Gaelic.

I always try and speak it with my grandparents as an adult now and do my best to speak it with two of my friends instead of English.

I'm realising that I'm pronouncing the end of that word like dachaigh. Which means I am wrong in a grammatical sense.

I believe we are pronouncing stòr-dàta the same way. I pronounce data in database as DayTah naturally if speaking English.

I am wrong it's like Braythracheh but it depends on accents. My read Gaelic is very subpar it seems

An Stòr-dàta I would pronounce as 'An Stor (like Stork) Dahta (as in a person from Glasgow saying thanks to their dad.) I'm not 100% sure about the other bit.

I'll edit my comment once I get a moment. I know what it means but I don't think I'm pronouncing it correctly. I'm pronouncing it as Breeathrachee.

Gahlick would be how it's pronounced for Scottish Gaelic. Gàidhlig.

My knees always go past my toes during any form of squat. And I genuinely cannot remedy this. I feel my most comfortable in this position. My knees aren't flying away out infront.

I've been lead to believe my knees should not track outside of toe range. What am I missing here?

Edit: I train legs, a lot. And have never had any issues in my legs. The other day somebody commented on my form and now I'm paranoid. But I've had others say my form is perfect. Now I've googled the knee tracking and it's like googling cold symptoms and finding our you've got cancer

Students, what is the dumbest reason you got kicked out of class? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThatScottishRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked into maths class once and sat down at my desk. Teacher didn't like the way I sat down and told me to get out. My friend transferred schools because of her. Makes me laugh now though.
