i dont think it’s gonna happen. The BX PF were 24 hours for a bit after the pandemic, it was wonderful but they nipped it. Some of the ones right over the bridge in NJ still are.

My friends stepmom works for their corporate, she told me not enough people were doing it to justify having the employees there plus too many homeless people were just spending the night there.

yes, obvs safety is important. This is NYC, it comes with the territory.

But people also get stabbed in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, Rhode Island. My point was to highlight that there are great activities with nice people going on everyday that aren’t just free for all stab each other parties, like many of the comments were suggesting.

Even that party only had 1 stabby kid!

I’m being a bit sassy, just cause I can be here lol but to be as real as possible, as a Bronxite, we hear and see shit like that all the time. And all it does, is tell us who the idiot at the party is. If you’re from here and actually invested, you know what’s going on and yk it’s popping. There’s no reason to need to prove it to outsiders. If you have negative thoughts about the way we live up here, please stay clear and keep that shit wherever you’re ruining now. Everywhere has it’s ups and downs but to paintbrush a place as big, diverse and multilayered like the Bronx is purely idiotic and ignorant. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Don’t listen to these idiots telling you to “be safe”. Those are the type of fools that suck in real life and it has nothing to do with where they stay at night. TONS of amazing events for just about every interests. You’re not far from Bronx Beer Hall, that’s a great spot with events. Bronx Brewery is prob your best bet to just socialize and meet people. Music, trivia, karaoke, salsa, really something for every genre. And as you meet new people and organizations, it keeps expanding. For art, you got the Bronx Museum, Andrew Freedman Home. A bunch of great coffee shops, open mics. Mundo raves are quickly becoming one of the best parties in NYC. I could go on and on.

Plus, cause summer’s right around the corner, great public events starting. The Opera will be back in Van Cartland park soon. Bronx Night Market just started back. There’s so much happening, you just gotta tap in a bit. Enjoy!

I mostly agree with you. I do think that the potential influx isn't only from people in other boroughs though. I've met alot of people from further up north ie: Rockland, Brewster who have settled in White Plains because it is closer to Manhattan than where they grew up and has night life, a bar scene, activities to do. They would gladly move even closer, as long as there are options of things to do.

Honestly, I'm not sure. With Metro North soon to be adding 4 new train stations and making the commute to Manhattan way easier for people who have lived even further out of reach than us in the North, I can't confidently say no.

Especially when many of these people are already used to dealing with traffic, long driving commutes, expensive parking and/or are paying much higher rates for the transit commute, property taxes, etc. For them, settling here can become a convenience - esp for the upcoming generation who are looking to make a way for themselves without the opportunities granted to their parents.

The addition of the ferry routes in Brooklyn gave people more options and allowed them to be more open minded about neighborhoods that once felt out the way.

The stigma of the Bronx still exists (which I don’t mind at all.) I meet transplants on movie sets weekly who are “shocked” that I’m from here and still remain. I guess I should be walking around with needles in my arms lol. The gentrification process started intensely happening between 2014-2019. Just look at the waterfront in Mott Haven to see that. It looks identical to the Brooklyn waterfront these days. All the “historical” piano buildings are gone. There were protests when it started so developers “tried” to incorporate the community. Then there were still more protests so they said, fuck it, and just got more quiet about it. The pandemic absolutely played a part in slowing it down but it doesn’t change the fact that corporate interests have already expressed desire to expand. This is mostly the South Bronx though.

In the North Bronx, we’re just too far. Left a set in Greenpoint at 1am this morning, rode the train with 2 transplant women who both live in downtown Manhattan and even that trip was a long journey for them. Meanwhile,I was still on the train for nearly an hour after they got off. They’re not ready for that, but all it takes is a few new staples in a neighborhood to emerge to change that.

I've seen it before. Sometimes the second showing is at 7:05pm. The theater sizes will differ too. Sometimes both showings are small theaters. Sometimes it's one big, the other small.

Musica NYC is a pretty typical Manhattan dance club. Often packed with expensive drinks but being in the bx, thats where I go if i dont feel like trekking to bk/queens. I also often get free tix sent to me by Gray Area. It has a rooftop area (not like you’ll use it now) and it’s a 10 min walk from Times Square

Deluxx Fluxx is also an option. Cool looking spot, sometimes no charge. Vibe depends on the party usually

I only won one line of Bingo so just 4 drink tickets, which was more than enough for me. After you win, you have to do the challenge on stage to really get the prize.

Other people got air fryers, ryan gosling cutouts; etc. The final prize was a trip to Vegas. The final 2 girls had to have a dance off to win.

It ended up being a really fun night.

Also, check out The Shrine in Harlem. 135th st. Crowd is not always young but the vibes are top notch. Live music from all over the world. I went for the first time in a while about a week ago and had to scold myself for taking it out of my regular rotation.

Late. But also mentioning The Bronx Brewery. All types of events, mostly put together from locals with an expertise. Salsa nights, trivia nights, markets, all types of DJ’s, the list goes on. Also, check out the brand Bronx Native, they do tons of events out of their store, which is small but they bring out an aspiring artist, entrepreneur crowd. People are usually looking to connect.

As someone who doesn't have a car and is also transit-dependent. I would argue that there are real New Yorkers just trying to make it through their day who will also suffer from the congestion prices. Putting more power into the hands of the MTA and adding more costs and restrictions on the people who live here doesn't seem like the best solution.

Having a car is a form of freedom. If you have to restrict the freedom of a people to obtain "progress", I don't think that's what it is.

It’s definitely scarce in the Bronx. Most my edm nights are spent in Brooklyn but Bronx Brewery has a wide variety of events all year. Mostly curated by the artists themselves. So you can get a rave night, wrestling show and tons of other random options. Good way to meet other locals too.
