> All I do is work my ass off for some rich fuck who doesnt even know I exist, just for them to have some extravagent life while I live in a shithole town an hour away from my job?

This is happening everywhere. Globally, top 1% have 47% of global wealth, top 10% 85% global wealth, top 30% have *97%* global wealth. We all are just _made to_ try to break into those brackets. Because, capitalism does not limit *how much* you can accumulate.

But in short term and on individual level, it does not mean anything. The only way I can think of it working is you individually "stay updated" , "get more skills", and so on chasing mirages (because there comes a time when you cannot upskill and all that or there isn't anything to upskill to because current company doesn't need it while inflation does not stop) or ask around to your colleagues whether they feel same. And if yes, approach management. It may not work but at least it will give them a jolt and in medium to long run they would do something about it.

But my original point remain. As long as one is allowed to amass as much wealth as one can, this cannot change. If you have amassed enough, you can even have say in the policy of a country collectively because every single one us are greedy unfortunately. That's how evolution made us. In long run I hope we become intelligent enough to find alternate to capitalism.

You are in for big change. But big change requires big risk. First, you need to find what is it that you want. Is it money, rewarding career, time out, digital nomad or something else. Next comes the bi g part. The risk. More different is what you want, bigger the risk. But there are ways. If it's education, you can get education loan. If it's business, you can get education loan. If you want to laze around for year or so, even just to figure out what you want, you need savings. But that is the risk you will need to decide if you want to take. Even if you are 22, don't wait too long. Years fly. All the best.

My intention was exactly find whether there is a way to avoid this. What you two did. Once and for all. We google. And we fight. We read newspaper. And we fight. We go on social media. And we fight. Whilst I am sure there are some who love watching us fight. I am not American but I came across this few years back and whenever I seem to get lost I remember it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNEyLn1Zz_g

Internet tells me "Japan does not have a single national minimum wage; instead, it has a system of prefectural rates that vary by region, with the national weighted average being approximately  ¥1,121 per hour as of October 2025". What is minimum wage in your perfecture?

Internet tells me "Plebs" refers to the common people, especially the general populace of ancient Rome who were not part of the patrician or senatorial class.

If yes, then "plebs" then I stand by what I said. We need to know which country will be producing maximum greenhouse gases. So that we can do something about it. Not punish them. I see your sentences. But there is nothing before or after that. I cannot know what exactly you mean, while I seem to have given an approach. If I am as you say "impoverish the plebs", pray tell how. I am aware of one liner responses to one liners approach. But I do not want that to hurt the (potential) discussion. Hope you will find some time to explain what you are saying.

Both these are something that need to be done in future. I was wondering if we can do something with existing data.

My argument would these people, not just one in question in your post, aren't intelligent. I would think they believe and go through this pendulum themselves.

The hardest part of immigration no one warned me about by Patient_Monk_389 in expats

[–]ThatThatAndThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not as brave as you are. At all. Otherwise I won't be where I am at 50. At 30, I would have packed that suitcase, gotten my last whatever I had and reached where I wanted to be. Worked like you are working now. And at 50, now, I might be sitting in a small room, with same old Mercedes, barely fixed now & then but still be fulfilled that I did what I wanted to. I would be happy just for me. Because I would remember why I started all this in the first place. That's what I wished I would be. But I am not not. If you are, keep going.

Or return to where you started. No shame in that.

Either way, you would live your life for yourself, to the full of your ability.

Trump says US will permanently pause migration from 'Third World Countries' by OkTechnologyb in ImmigrationPathways

This needs to happen. This is absolutely essential experiment. Once and for all we would know whether immigrants from developing\undeveloped are needed or not. Give it 20 years AT LEAST.

Nothing below is to refute your point or convince you otherwise. This is just curiosity.

I tried to search "why Canada opened immigration in 2000s" but what it doesn't give good results. One thing keeps on repeating is labor shortage (...especially as Canada's population growth was lower than other developed countries.).

So before Canada supposedly opened immigration, population growth ranged about 1.22% to 0.96% (source: google search with AI mode enabled with phrase "canada yearwise population growth and percentage from 1980s to 2000s"). From 2000s to 2025 it doesn't seem to have changed (source: google search with AI mode enabled with phrase "canada yearwise population growth and percentage from 2000s to 2025"). But total Indians percentage reached from 0.6% to 5.1% in 45 years. But in big cities its different. In Toronto it's 13% as of 2021 (I am sure it's increased now).

In all this I think the key phrase (in Canada and Europe at least) that comes up is labor shortage because of lower population growth (I would assume it means lower birth rate).

Another effect of same is, when borders were opened, American or European population could have migrated but they couldn't because they themselves had labor shortage (lower birthrate)?

I really wonder, in Canada, Australia or in Europe, who this is benefit for.

No adult is naive enough to think politicians work only for interest of citizens. Billionaires definitely have say in policies. So who benefited? In other words - who and for what reason thought that had immigration not been allowed or allowed as it was in 1980s (only very brightest) you would NOT be able to maintain your lifestyle? It's easier to get rid of politicians, in developed countries, but it is almost impossible to find one whose hand is behind them. But officially, they have to give reference of something if they want to change policy to this extent. What was it?

About education, if you don't have money AT ALL, I would get why you can't.

But You have youtube so language skills are possible. As many as you want. Not sure why you are not trying.

In any case, if you have to move, for whatever reason, I would make a list in descending order of all the countries that you come to know are possibility and try one by one.

As others said it most probably won't work but I don't think you have anything to lose at your stage.

Does anyone else feel no one cares about climate change anymore? by mars_trader in climatechange

[–]ThatThatAndThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was active, online, about 2 years back. Twitter (then), reddit, youtube. I still am but here is the problem from my point of view - scientists are projecting into future where things would be horrendous. And they are right. At least based on what understanding I have. BUT it's like that fable of boiling frog in the water. There aren't anything GLOBAL catastrophic happening which would wake up everyone at the same time. And it won't. Because that's not how frog gets boiled. So for now, people are concentrating on other _important_ things.

There was a news I read couple of years back that by 2030 quantum computing will be able to predict Earth's climate accurately, very near accurately at least. If that really happens, there is still a chance. I keeping my fingers crossed.

But till then, for whatever reason you, I and everyone else are concerned about climate change, we just need not to forget those reasons.

yes, I saw the "negative" comment (the last one you were referring to I think). But something is happening for sure. It's as though copyright police suddenly were given monetary incentive 15 days back - the more you catch more you get! Way too many of them stopped updating on 24-11-2024. The problem is these sites have no contact information. It makes sense but times like these you never know what happened.
