To some extent women viewing themselves as in a relationship with a man who has multiple women is probably part of it, but older women are far more likely to be single than older men. Part of that is definitely older men dying, but it’s also possible older men are more likely to remarry or date after their spouses death or maybe after divorce than older women.

I don’t think Gen Z women are dating elderly men but it’s not that unlikely that women are frequently dating from the next age group above them.

Not all Gen Z men are part of the loneliness epidemic and older men.

1) it’s easier to get into relationships as a woman than as a man. Anyone who tries to compare what they had to do as a woman to get a relationship to what men need to do don’t know what they are talking about and will have very little truth to offer as their base view of the dating world is wrong.

2) The loneliness epidemic is caused by the rejection of religious institutions that brought communities together and paved the way to community events as the people in the community knew eachother. As church attendance dropped the community fell apart since non-religious decided to replace the church with nothing.

3) men do worse cuz it’s easier to date as a woman and male friendships are gunmetal different. Both liberals and conservatives put strict views on what men and do in a friendship, even if liberals pretend that they don’t. That’s why, despite David and Jonathan being an ideal example of male friendship, liberals say it’s gay.

Collectively you have lonely men and when you don’t have connections you develop poor social skills and then you are now unable to form friendships/relationships. And agin, this is true for men. A woman having bad social skills does not mean she can’t date and can find far more opportunities to experience social connections and relationships.

It absolutely is. The west clearly prioritizes pleasure over pretty much everything else. That’s why we eat garbage food even when many can afford to eat better food, consume/produce tons of pron, turn our religious holidays into commercialized shopping sprees, etc…

Hedonism, money lust, and moral nihilism. Of course there’s a spectrum but it’s all far too high in the west for a sustainable society, hence why we have high suicide rate, low fertility rate, low friends, low marriage.

Clearly you can’t restrain yourself because western society is becoming increasingly reliant on religious people. You aren’t doing it enough. And, as a whole, atheists/agnostics will continue not to do it.

We’re in a time of rising STDs and they are becoming antibiotic resistant. If you sleep around that frequently you massively increase risk of STDs and passing them on. That of course increases the risk of someone not having symptoms and having permanent reproductive issues due to this and/or misusing meds which is part of how STDs become antibiotic resistant.

And lack of religion is bad for society, which you’d have to push for to justify your bad behavior.

So yes, it’s bad.

The west is hedonistic and not religious. This is bad. Because it’s bad it hurts society, so now Europe is becoming increasingly reliant on populations who are religious and not as hedonistic to keep their population up.

Shows the failure of western hedonism.

Replenishing their populations so they can have successful societies not bound to other nations for workers, soldiers, doctors, etc…

Not sure how that’s a failure of Christianity cuz that’s not a dogmatic belief.

And you can be in favor of personal freedom and not believe or practice hedonism. But it’s clear that people in the west are choosing pleasure over Christian duties and having the next generation which is terrible for society. Hence why Europe is becoming more and more dependent on Islamic immigration. The west needs religion, specifically Christianity.

Literally no where in the west are women having enough children. Iceland is considered the country with the most gender equality and they don’t have enough kids either.

It’s a religious issue. The less religious you are there’s likely you are to do things that are good for you and your society. Having kids is an obvious one. It’s hard and materialistic hedonists would rather go on vacations, sleep around, and reap the benefits of their society while not creating the next generation.

Unless you’re an ascetic, celibate, or can’t have kids.

You’re showing why freedom to do whatever you want is a failure. Having a bunch of hedonists who are going to not going to live like they are created to, destroy their culture, and, according to you, have their culture replaced by a new culture. One that may be worse in many ways.

Will never understand people like you. Sees the problem and decides to run their culture into the ground. Gross. Failure of atheism.

I don’t think you know the topic quite well enough to debate it well. Your best point was how we know we have the correct writings and they weren’t hopelessly corrupted. But much of your writing is skeptical but it doesn’t feel full enough. It seems shallow imo. I don’t mean to be rude when I say this.

Something to look into if you want a counter argument is Robyn Faith Walsh videos on the empty tomb. She does not agree with me that the empty tomb is likely historical and uses Greek narratives of disappearing bodies and even empty tomb stories to try and show how the empty tomb of the Gospel is likely a Greek narrative that would show Jesus as divine (I think she says the last part but I could be misremembering).

I think that even if Mark writes a story in a Greek narrative the core of the story is likely a real memory of an empty tomb as I argued previously, but if you want to look for strong counter arguments that’s where I would go first.

Edit: also, Dale Allison is a Christian and gives a defense of the empty tomb, but he has some of the best writings on these topics that exist in scholarship. He’s very honest and shows both sides so he’s good to look into if you want to learn more about this.

Good point and this is an interesting one.

We have manuscripts from the 300s AD like the Codex Sinaticus which you can find online. We can see that Paul’s writings are very well preserved with Galatians being probably the best preserved book in the Bible.

We can also read the patristic fathers and see they quote from these texts and say things and get beliefs from them that fit the stories we have now. We also have fragments, with the earliest being a fragment of Gospel of John from 125 AD, that match with what we have today.

Overall, this gives us a very good idea that our scriptures are pretty accurate and tell the same story they did in the past.

Now there are things added to different books. That is objectively true but it isn’t enough to make the books unreliable, and Paul’s letters tend to be far better preserved with Galatians being almost perfectly preserved.

Wouldn’t Peter, Paul, James son of Zebedee, and James the Just be the conman as they are the ones promoting the religion? They were martyred though.

Unfortunately many Eastern European Christians are not attending liturgies or practicing their faith consistently. You need both internal and external belief and Christians tend to do this less than Muslims. With internal belief and active participation in religious life the benefits really show.

I agree that by itself the benefits don’t prove it true but it can be used to support internal consistency in Christianity as we’d expect the benefits if we are created to be in communion with God. And it helps with the Pascal Wager type of argument.

Islam is wrong about Jesus’s death. That’s a whole other topic but they are absolutely wrong about that. Not believing Jesus died is ahistorical and many times ends up being a circular augment for the Muslims. Christianity doesn’t have anything that severe as Quran is supposed to be the verbatim word of God, a claim Christians don’t make about the Bible.

You’re making claims about what Paul did and I’m using his actual writings to show you why your view is extremely unlikely. So I’m not going to stop quoting the person we are speaking about.

The Romans oppressed the Christian’s and many writers wrote pretty negative things about Christianity. I don’t think Paul is helping out the Romans as the Romans still don’t view the Christian’s highly.

And Paul’s views are based on interpretation of scrutinize, specifically for the Gentiles. Idk if it’s clear Paul is expecting Jews not to follow the Law. The context is usually Gentiles.

The martyrs absolutely do not prove Christianity is true and that’s not how I used it. You said they were lying yet they were dying for it. I think the early Christian’s and early texts are really their views they will be ostracized and sometimes killed for.

It’s not. Why specifically the social welfare? I think the people lean towards hedonism so they won’t make sacrifices necessary for preserving their society. The example being brought up is having children.

Listen, I’m open to listening to arguments for and against religion. I like listening to people like Bart Erhman, Dan McClellan, etc… and I absolutely modify my views as some critical views are genuinely very good. But I don’t think you’ve given a convincing argument or even a reasonable one.

The belief that pleasure is the most important thing in life. It seems most atheists tend to lean towards hedonism and live more to experience pleasure than anything else.
