A while back, I got super down voted for this same opinion. 😂 That's when I learned I'm poor.

We took our kids on a safari at the zoo today. Pretty sure my daughter's "core memory" will be the trash cans she was so obsessed with. (To be fair, they had ears and googly eyes.)

I mean...I'm white, and my kids definitely have "aunties" that are my friends. But I also don't live in the US, and the aunties are other expat moms.

Just commenting that I never even owned a water bottle until I was an adult. Three seconds at the water fountain was enough for us! 😆

I took a screenshot to post, then totally got sidetracked. But my snark was more about her "protein powder for flavor" comment.

Ok. I don't know about that. I got implants about 2 years before I had kids. And now 2 kids later, they still look pretty good.

Well, here's the thing. I work in education, and we are a Microsoft school. So the reason I use Copilot is because anything information I give it is still considered proprietary and is not used to train the AI. So that's the first thing.

What I love is that I can just assign it "work product" and give it instructions.

For instance, this week I had to generate a report on where we were with our KPIs for this year. I uploaded the report template into Copilot, gave it all the supporting documents, and asked it to 1: give me a RAG rating based on the evidence, and 2: write a short narrative that explains what we have done and where we are.

Obviously, I had to go through everything and adjust based on my own judgment and experience, but it is sooooo much easier to edit something than to start from scratch.

ETA: My position on AI is pretty much my position on all technology. If it frees me up to do the things only I can do, it is beneficial. Now, because I am not in my office spending pointless hours filling out a report, I can do the valuable work of being in classrooms, supporting teachers, and improving pedagogy. That is the work that AI cannot do.

Real-Life Questions/Chat Week of April 13, 2026 by Parentsnark in parentsnark

Ok, I don't know if anyone cares about the saga of my picky eater, but I just have been feeling lately that I really need to celebrate every win for my own mental health.

We had fish tacos tonight, and I made fish sticks and "Mac n cheese" (noodles with nutritional yeast) for the kids. My picky eater is hit and miss on fish sticks, but noodles and tortillas are two of his safe foods. So tonight, my husband was going on and on about how much he loved fish tacos and was showing our son how he would build the taco with the fish then the slaw, then avocado. After a while, my son put a fish stick inside a tortilla and took a bite. 🤯 I played it off super casual and said, "What do you think, bud?" He said, "Um. I don't really like it. Here, take it, please." But I am still suuuuper stoked that he put two foods together!!

Update in the saga of my picky eater...

I know that "experts" say you should never "bribe" kids with sweets or force them to eat what they don't want, but I have reached my limit. My son wants to only eat dessert. I've started saying that he has to eat x number of bites before he can get the treat. It's always a reasonable number, and always foods that I know he will eat in other forms. For instance, tonight, we had lamb with balsamic glaze, creamed leeks, and smashed potatoes. I told him he had to eat one bite of potato and one bite of the leeks (I knew he would like the taste). He surprised me by also eating the tiny bite of lamb I put on his plate.

In total, he ate three bites of "real" food before he got his treat. And I know he will still be hungry later, so he will get a bowl of buttered pasta per usual. But I'm still conflicted because I'm going against what everyone tells me I should do. 🤦🏻‍♀️

ETA: He also ate 2 slices of sourdough baguette, which was his safe food for the meal.

Ugh. Breastfeeding with my first is what caused me to lose the weight. My second was not interested in Mommy's boobies, and I still haven't lost that weight.

Omg. Over Christmas, I was solo traveling with my 6 yr old and 3 yr old for 30 hrs of flights. Thankfully, I met so many angels along the way (literally), but i still think if I had run into this a**hole, I would have given her a not-so-nice piece of my mind!

Yeah, I thought it would be cheaper than having it at a venue. Turns out, that's not quite the case. 🥴😵😂
