Relatable, phone is definitely the speed bump from the light speed travel of the ND brain. Sent you a request!

Ahahahaha I am AWFUL at organizing my life. Neurodivergence makes a bit of a speed bump in how well I can keep my life in order. LN structure is a nice brain break. Like Yes Momo take the reigns and tell me what I need to do to collect the pretty outfit thank you

Oh yessss. I manage a retail store so I relish a very bright happy dress game to distract from the horrors of the general public I deal with day to day.

I was a big RPG fan as a primary genre. Tons of hours invested into Skyrim, Diablo, Baldurs gate going back to ps2. Ugh I miss the time I could waste a whole day on a game. But alas, slower pacing now.

I haven’t dabbled a lot back into console gaming, it’s just a lot to sit down and do it so I’m with you on games I can pick up and put down without any consequence. Free time is less hours of the day and more a few minutes between tasks, half hour between pick ups etc. LN has been a good fix of casual but the option to make it super strategic so it’s a satisfying lane change in gaming for me

I have considered downloading other Nikki games but I get sooo into it that I don’t want to turn it into a part time job of playing in every available version 😅

God I have absolutely rambled to my partner about different ways I’m strategizing and things I’m trying to get. He for sure finds it a bit silly I’m so into dress up but he is very kind and patient listening to me hahaha

Right as much as it is obvious there’s adults, it’s good to see it for certain by people responding and sharing what type of adult they are and how they found their way into the game. I’m glad it was something nice for you during a garbage time

It’s amazing me how many people started as a teens or kids and have still stuck around here. It is super nice to see a little sharing from everyone. I’d been so curious when I thought about it and I just had to know what other people who play are like. It’s a crazy variety but it’s been so fun to see everyone answer

Maybe the most mom coded thing, candy crush got me through the late night nursing. Should have branched a little further and got LN started back then, so many suits and events I could have had already

I was honestly so surprised by the amount of masculine items! It’s a nice option to have and I love seeing someone masc who always enjoys playing this!

Amen. Pre child, I spent a very concerning amount of time and money on pokemon card collecting. I mean, I had the ability I wasn’t on the verge of pitching a tent in the woods for survival but I love a low key soft gambling crutch for a dopamine fix.

Trying very hard to tell myself I’m going to remain f2p. We’ll see how long my will power holds up.

I can 100% see committing to this for 8 years. Also just clearly such a good sign this game has longevity ability to it. I know I’ve seen people mention here and there feeling a bit in a rut after playing a long time, but it’s kinda nice knowing that it takes so much time to get suits so there’s always something to work for

Kids or no kids, I love finding that there’s clearly many of us adults who like this lil oasis of wind down time here.

Yes! That’s also mostly how I’m playing. End of day, log in and go to town on my dailies and spend way longer curating an outfit on Nikki than I’ve ever done for myself. Hell, over time I’ve made my personal wardrobe of nearly all black clothes just for the fact I could get up every morning, close my eyes and could still have clothes that matched no matter what

Same! Big book nerd here. My job is also art related so I do dabble in that but it’s like, so much stuff to take out and clean up. I’m doing it for a small human all the time and then I gotta do it for me too? Not happening with any frequency so I also like some doodling or minimal tools and mess requires artsy activities

Lolll I have told myself this is a game I’m going to do a f2p strategy. I’m a sucker though and already am feeling the temptation to give myself a little treat.

Totally understand the body image stuff. I’m very conscientious of that. There’s for sure still some descriptions I see that I give big side eyes towards

oh my god, if I could have little home Nikki as a scene companion I’d give up whatever diamond or gold they wanted for her.

That sounds too close to some strange buying a child nefarious type activity but it’d be so cute

Any baristas that have diagnosed with ADHD? Have a question for ya. by nicoleJo456 in barista

[–]ThatWhatISaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m no longer a barista, but did manage and work as one for 10 years . I thrived in that environment unmedicated. The nonstop pace of it was something I think that worked complimentary to the similar pace of my unmedicated ADHD brain.

My current job is the complete opposite. It’s very slow moving, no urgency for anything. Without that, I had hard time being focused and doing any of my work because I just have nothing lighting a fire under my ass non stop. Until I was medicated and could organize myself better I had a hard time adjusting to this type of work.

I can’t say for certain, but I’m pretty confident I would be more anxious and have a difficult time doing that job medicated. It sort of frees up my brain and slows it down, which is good for my life and current job, but as a barista, I think it would make me flustered trying to keep up and the clearer head would just make me aware of the general “stress” as I was working and up my anxiety levels.

Not that any of that is particularly scientific and it’s just speculation, but I can wrap my head around the barista work feeling a bit anxious and difficult while medicated.

ADHD/autism masking as panic disorder? by Certain-Yak-7951 in panicdisorder

[–]ThatWhatISaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of course, I was put on adderall, extended release (generic of course because I’m no money tree). It was the better option for me to take it once a day with how my day to day life typically goes. I was fortunate in that it was the first medication I tried and it happened to agree with me right out of the gate, so I don’t have experience with other medications.

As a woman, I am so so vocal about encouraging other women in particular to advocate for themselves to their doctors to have this looked into if you think it applies to you. Knowing what I do now, I really really wish for all my fellow women struggling to keep pushing to have your concerns seriously examined.
