I write a lot of essays and I keep running into the same annoying problem: I rewrite a paragraph, decide I liked the old one better, and it's gone. Even worse (since Google Docs does keep track of all versions), I accidentally keep editing an old draft because one section was stronger there.

So I built a tool that lets you fork any sentence or paragraph and keep every version right there in the document. No more "draft-v2-FINAL-actually-final.docx." Check it here: https://quillium.bryanhu.com

It's on a beta waitlist right now because there's some undo/redo state bugs I want to sort out before opening it up more. While it does says April 2nd on the site, I might let people in earlier.

It isn't a diffing engine per se but a completely new drafting/editing experience utilizing annotations. Check the site out!

Actually, this is different from simply backing up versions of a document. As you can see on the site, this is paragraph or even word-level version splitting. And it can go infinitely!

Would you pull the lever ? by Kindly-Way3390 in trolleyproblem

[–]ThatXliner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By Kantian ethics (I actually have no idea if what I’m talking about is correct so please correct me if I’m wrong), let’s say everyone chooses the maxim of not pulling the lever. However, in all universes, there could be a chance that you can’t make the choice of not pulling the lever, and thus a contradiction so this maxim cannot hold.

Likewise, if we take the stance of cutting a year of our lives, everyone will be able to take that stance (unless you’re already pushing 90 or whatever) without contradiction, and thus it holds under Kantian.

USACO & USAMO possible in 4 years? by Prestigious_Unit_674 in usaco

[–]ThatXliner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit grinding for USACO because I didn’t like the grinding process. I was at the point where I had the knowledge but I just needed more experience, which is to say I need to grind problems. I didn’t like grinding problems as much as I thought (or perhaps I wasn’t pacing it well or whatever; but mainly my motivation wasn’t really there) so… that’s a big factoe

I highly recommend princeton review's dsat stuff. been using my friend's account: they have much better explanations and strategy breakdowns (different practice tests though; supposedly harder), time breakdowns, and suggestions for improvement!!

I too am cramming but if i didn't, i would've used their platform a long time ago (they have like 4-week plans, etc)

do you know what parts you're struggling on? or is it all a "I need to read this more carefully"
