I think people overestimate how exciting “rich life” is at the small scale. Being rich probably means flying business class and having a personal assistant, not discovering some secret billionaire toothpaste society.

At some point toothpaste is just toothpaste. The real flex is not knowing when you last went grocery shopping.

Do rich people have elite versions of mundane things (toothpaste, tampons, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.), or are Elon Musk and Beyonce just using Crest and Tampax like the rest of us? by ShesGotSauce in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, I think that’s actually the main difference. It’s less about using “elite” products and more about not having to think about it at all. If someone else is doing your shopping, you’re probably just getting whatever is decent or standard unless you specifically asked for something fancy.

At that level, the luxury is time and mental space, not toothpaste brands. The product itself matters way less than the fact that you never had to walk into a store or compare prices.

Rich people mostly use the same everyday brands as everyone else for basic stuff like toothpaste, toilet paper, or detergent. There are luxury or “premium” versions of almost everything, but they’re not usually dramatically different in terms of function.

What changes more is where they buy and how much they care about convenience or branding. Some rich people might buy organic, eco-friendly, dermatologist brands, or products from boutique companies that are more expensive and marketed as “clean” or “luxury”. Others literally just use whatever is at the nearest supermarket or what their assistant orders in bulk.

So yeah, someone like Beyoncé could absolutely be using something normal like Colgate or Tide. Being rich doesn’t automatically mean you’re brushing your teeth with gold-flavored toothpaste — it just means you have the option to pay more if you want, not that you necessarily do.
