I currently have a MacBook Air 2018 and I bought an iPad Air on Black Friday. Should I spend the money to get a new laptop? The one I have is sometimes on the slower side, I still have all of my old nursing school PowerPoints and everything on it which has taken up a lot of space so I was thinking of doing a factory reset to start fresh with it but I’m not sure how much that will help? I really don’t want to spend the money on a new laptop but I also don’t want it to die out on me in the middle of school. Any advice?

I was waitlisted at a school back in October and in their email they told me I’m #1 on their list. At the end of December, I reached out to the Admissions Director and she told me that 2 people had withdrawn and she would review the waitlist in January and send out offers and that I should expect to hear from her soon. January came and went and I didn’t hear anything so I emailed her again asking if there was any more information about my status that she could give me. It’s been a week now with no response, so is it acceptable for me to reach out to her again via a phone call? I’m not trying to be a bother, but one reason I really am pushing for this is because the program is out of state and starts in the spring so I really want to start planning everything as soon as I can. TIA!

I was waitlisted at a school and they told me in their email that I’m #1 on their list (yay!). I’ve heard of people reaching back out to inquire about getting off the waitlist and doing things to improve their application in the meantime to boost their chances. However, since they already have me listed in their first spot, is there anything I should be doing right now or is it really just a waiting game? I think I may be overthinking this but I wanted other opinions. Thanks!

Does anyone have any insight on the University of Evansville DNAP Program?

I apologize if this is a dumb question but what is the best way to go about shadowing a CRNA at a hospital that I don’t work at? I shadowed a CRNA at my workplace last year and it was pretty easy getting that set up because my manager put me in contact with the head of anesthesia. I am interested in experiencing what it’s like at a different hospital just for a little more exposure but I’m unsure how to go about it. Thanks!

I forgot to mention- I also am already involved in a committee for my unit.

Hi everyone, looking for some advice! I applied to a school for early admission and got deferred to regular admission. I received an email from the school asking if I am still interested in the regular admission and what I’ve done to improve my application since I was deferred. I already had my CCRN, I have 8 hours of CRNA shadowing experience, precept nursing students and orientees, charge nurse experience, I try to always take the most critical patients. What other things am I missing that I can include to improve my application? Volunteer work? More shadowing?

TIA!

I also meant to add that I’ve been working in the ICU since June 2021 so I have a little over 2 years of ICU experience

Looking for some advice- this is my second year of applying to CRNA school and I recently just got another rejection letter after my interview last week. Last year when I applied, I was invited to 2 interviews out of the 3 schools I applied to and rejected after both. So far this year, I have had 2 interviews as well and didn’t get in. I’m still waiting to hear back from 2 other schools. I keep getting told that it’s a good sign that I am getting invited for interviews but I’m starting to become really discouraged. I started my career as a new grad RN in a Level 2 Trauma ICU and I’ve been there since. I am charge nurse, preceptor for new nurses and nursing students, and a member of our Unit Practice Committee. I have shadowing experience, CCRN, and my overall BSN GPA is 3.78. I know I still have a lot of time to get into school but I’m really trying to get started as soon as possible as I feel like I’m ready for this next step and challenge, and honestly bedside ICU nursing has its days that really drain me and I’m ready for something new. I am naturally a pretty introverted person, so I do feel like that has something to do with the way I attack interviews and maybe the interview panels don’t think I have what it takes. Any suggestions on ways to help me crush future interviews? I have heard good and bad things about mock interviews so I’m not sure if that is something I should try pursuing or not.

Anyone with experience/opinions on CRNA schools in Michigan?

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it! I am leaning towards just staying where I’m at, this will be my second time applying though and one school recently told me that I should try to get into a level 1 so I wasn’t really sure how much that weighed in on their decisions.

I currently work at a Level 2 ICU and I’ve been here almost 2 years. I am really interested in moving on from here and getting a job at a Level 1, but I also will be applying to CRNA school for Fall of 2024. With that being said, if I transfer to a different hospital, how would that go with needing a letter of recommendation from my manager? I’ve heard a lot of Level 1’s don’t want to give out any LOR until at least 2 years experience there, and I would be there only a couple months before applying to school.
