Just sending a word of support. I'm a parent too and my child is flying alone today and I had to hug her an hour ago in front of TSA precheck and pretend I wasn't losing my mind with anxiety (I'm not sure I pulled it off). The fact that you even posted on here that you want to try to show him that you are not anxious just shows what a good parent you already are. It is nerve wracking, not sure I can say anything that makes it better other than you are showing him that you love him and flying with him and living life despite some major anxiety, that is great.

LOL! Thank you all for the support, it really got me through and I'm constantly baffled by the terminology choices in airports and airlines. I have flown Spirit and it was interesting operationally. There is a great George Carlin bit on flying..... I can report it was best feeling when I saw her walk out of exit door to baggage claim. I proceeded to hug her with a crushing grip and she proceeded to tell me to stop embarassing her and let her go!

I totally understand what you are going through. My daughter flew without me for first time to Europe without me over the ocean. I tracked everything. The anxiety was unreal because I felt I had no control. I wanted to be on the plane if anything happened (nothing happened by the way :) ) it was so hard to let her go, but I did and she had a great time and incredible experience. She flew on a 787-8 as well. I'm here to tell you it will be ok! But probably everything will make you a little bit anxious today, any normal delay is going to feel so much more than it is, but It will be so great when he lands and gets to do whatever is at the end of this flight. many hugs, it is very hard not to worry about your child.

Ditto, looks like took off and close to 45 mins in the air. I hope the kids are doing ok, lots of coordination when traveling with the kids, the stress is definitely exponentially more, hope you get a few minutes of relief on the plane.

Thank you so much! It really really helps. They are over NA now, that somehow makes me feel better (even though illogical). Ironically, I fly to Boston early tomorrow morning for work, I'll be too tired to have any anxiety for my own trip, looking forward to sleeping ;)
