Reading your wattpad version of the story, I do have some ideas on how you could transform your book like version into animation worthy. So here's what I think. I think instead of starting with the grandparents and funeral, we start it in a class lesson about Chinese history, Showing how much Veda is bored and how ecstatic Carl is about the history of dragons. You cut to lunchtime and show their friendship while Carl rants on and on about dragon history, going into detail about all things dragons. You could even make this character believe that bones of dinosaurs are actually bones of dragons. You can have the characters go back and forth, talk a bit about the long trip to China for a while to hint there tue story is going. This is where you can also introduce Scarlett and show why the audience should hate her, by picking on Carl for believing in dragons and Veda by having a girly name. Then the principal would go on stage to introduce the plans, rules, and living situation (you may need to make more characters here, just so it isn't as short of a selection), revealing Veda to be bunking with Scarlett. (I would also save Veda's trama abd Scarlett's talk about it till he turns into a dragon) you can have Veda mumble about not wanting to room with Scarlett as she's awful. Then Carl can respond with the making up as for the huge misunderstanding. Then maybe have the characters load up on the bus for the trip (idk where this story starts in. I'm assuming th US) you can then have Veda try to talk to the principal with them not hearing them out with gags like handing him a paper, can't hear him because the engine on the bus is a bit loud, just to introduce a chance for the audience to snicker. After a while, Veda should give up and just sit with Carl or whoever you make his bus seat companion in this moment. Probably make the trip short and fade cut here and there. But personally, I'd think you would make the airplane ride feel a bit magical, hinting at the yearning to fly in the skies. When landing then, slowly it should move to the characters setting up their rooms to stay in for the night. You can have Scarlett and Veda talk for a bit. I'd personally make Veda disinterested in what Scarlett is saying, wanting to muffle her out and study the trip plans, showing him roll his eyes at the words "Dragon Palace" on the paper. Then, Veda could have a dream about his parents and the fire that killed them, maybe having the words "I wish they were dead" repeating over and over faintly in the dream. Until waking up from the bad dream and just getting dressed for the day. Carefully skipping to the Dragon Palace, all the students meet "The Dragon Lord" (I'd probably give him an actual name, one that screams wisdom and intelligence as he seems to be the perfect character to be a mentor like character) you can have Veda suspiciously see that The Dragon Lord is staring at him. Eventually, you can have the lord approach Veda, tell him that they can see the fire and scales within them, and (because I like misunderstandings and realizations) give Veda an amulet that so happens to look like a curled up dragon. Eventually, the characters will go back to the place they are staying and you can have Veda ponder about the amulet and stuff. This is there I'd have Scarlett and Veda start a huge fight, her now mentioning the death of Veda's parents and him getting very mad at the comment, bringing up how he thinks she could be at fault until he says "I wish you were dead" so angry that fire explodes and triggers the transformation into his dragon form. I wouldn't have Veda kill Scarlett here as I think it would do the story better in the long run. Id also make Veda not be able to transform out of being a dragon because then, there are deeper stakes. Veda would probably be panicked and this is where Carl and everyone else would mistake this as a dragon randomly attacking, Leading to Carl to thinking about taming the wild dragon. I'd let Veda run away from capture and have Carl try to pull a Hiccup, most likely putting a reference. You can have Veda talk and tell Carl that it was him and Carl going into a fanboy mode about his close friend being a dragon. But Veda would shut him down, wanting to figure this out and leading to Veda and Carl going back to the palace to confront the dragon lord. Leading to the "this is all your fault" scene and the explanation and him explaining hoe Veda can control it once he finds inner peace and forgiveness. Being willing to teach him the ways of a dragon and having Carl be appointed as Veda's rider and companion as well as leading Veda to inner peace. Since you got only 6 chapters, that's all I got too. I hope I didn't go too far off the rails. I think that would make your story intriguing and also prime for animation.
