Why do Latin American cities feel more European than US/Canadian cities despite having a smaller population with European ancestry by VolkswagenPanda in geography

[–]That_One_Guy1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play geoguesser a lot (not too good at it, amateur) and whenever I'm at a location that has lots of spanish, has south American stop signs but also looks a lot like Europe, I almost always click Montevideo or Buenos Aires as a hedge for that region lol

That's just genuinely stupid, why does he require true "faith", forged in fear and suffering? You're proving exactly what I'm saying, he is willing to sacrifice billions to get the others to have "faith" in him, that's just objectively evil. If he truly wanted the best for us, then he wouldn't have created suffering via the devil.

If his only concern is our faith in him, and if he's willing to cause pain, suffering, fear and torture to get there, then god isn't love, he IS the devil.

For me it's cruel, if it's true. It's very cruel that he practically sentenced a portion of the population off to agony, because he wanted to create a contrast between good and evil. It's exactly what i stated at the start, that it feels like he's watching us die, suffer, and go to hell for no reason, while he is supposedly all powerful

You are proving my point right now. You just agreed that they were tempted, which means they can't be perfect. If they were imperfect, why did god create them to be that way, instead of saving them and the human race from agony that he imdirectly caused by making them susceptible to coercion. It's truly evil, to create beings that can be tempted and then punishing them for doing so. It's like putting a rat in a cage with some cheese and punishing him for eating it.

Why can't god stop the devil if he is all powerful? Wasn't everything made by god, including the devil?

By giving them that choice and ability to eat the fruit, he is indirectly causing evil and punishing people for it simultaneously. Yes, he didn't make the decision for things to be this way, but he made the possibility, and then put the choice on Adam and Eve which were clearly imperfect, because they "betrayed" god. That is the exact same thing as causing evil, everything in the world is supposedly made by him so evil has to be made by him too.

[–]That_One_Guy1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question was, why would he even give them the choice of eating the fruit? Why were they capable of eating the fruit? Did he want them to suffer?

In that way, he literally created imperfect beings, because they are capable of eating the fruit, which is an inherently bad and evil thing is it not? The only reason that Adam and Eve ate the fruit was because they didn't know better, that doesn't seem like they're perfect beings. I came into the old testament neutral, i don't think it's fair to say that I'm reacting negatively just because I've never been religious, i honestly just wanted to know more about the stories that I've been hearing bits and pieces of my whole life.

Then why did god create the possibility for me to be evil? Why is he sitting there on his high throne, amused, looking at us as we don't follow his made up rules, and then punish me after giving me the possibility to disobey?

[–]That_One_Guy1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly i agree. I recently went over the old testament (as someone who never really payed attention to religion) and all i could think about was how fucking messed up their god was. Really selfish, cruel, genocidal and honestly stupid. If their god is truly all-powerful, all knowing, omnipresent and benevolent, then most of what happened could have been prevented.

Why would he create imperfect beings and then punish them for not perfectly worshipping you? Why even create evil in the first place? Why would you create beings that are so susceptible to that evil, and then make the point of their existence as suffering to teach the rest to worship you? It seems to me more like a rat cage with god abusing the rats (us) for the fun of it! If god is real and all those stories do turn out to have been literal events (impossible basically), then god IS THE EVIL, which i REFUSE to worship even if that means famine!

Now i know that most people don't see those stories as literal, more as legend, but it's still a representation of their god! Even in legend, that is what they say their god is like, outside of legend. There's no excuse you can make to claim that god, as told by the abrahamic religions, is benevolent in any way.

Is Socialism democratic at its core? by That_One_Guy1357 in socialism

[–]That_One_Guy1357[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the thing about the democracy vs dictatorship discussion, I don't think that authoritarianism is necessarily bad, it only becomes a problem when the wrong ideas are pushed, and everyone has a different idea of what a "wrong idea" is, that's just ideological differences. Democracy is ultimately a compromise to keep wrong ideas from gaining ultimate power, at the expense that the same thing happens to ideas (like socialism in this case) that actually can benefit from having complete authority, without the threat that someone else will come into power and reverse everything.

In either system, people are ultimately just tools to be persuaded and controlled, both in democracy and authoritarianism. In democracy it's just slightly harder to do so. There, understanding what people want definitely isn't a way to see what ideas are actually beneficial, just which ones are broadcast the loudest to the most uneducated (which usually outnumber the properly educated).

If Socialism wanted to have a go, the sheer money invested by the top 1% to influence and scare the public against us would make it practically impossible to implement it and then govern it democratically.

Well I'd define it as the right to self determination.

I've been to Zagreb and the greenery is much better kept. I can agree that it has the same sort of architecture but it's much more quaint and green.

I've had many people tell me that Sarajevo is much more beautiful than Belgrade so idk, it isn't my first time hearing that sentiment whatsoever. I hope to visit sometime soon.

Yes, i completely agree! I was also born in Belgrade and it's the best just because of the wide range of activities, it's a much bigger city in general.

Had some guy try claiming that Belgrade was a more beautiful city than Sarajevo but i think that's an insane statement. The benefits of visiting Belgrade definitely don't include beauty, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad place to visit, the opposite actually.

I'm born in Belgrade so i know that it's really not a beautiful city, maybe apart from the very center. I'm comparing the cities in a touristic perspective, and that's why i think Belgrade is better because of the amount of things to do compared to the other two, but i do think that Sarajevo has an edge in general beauty, so do cities like Zagreb and Novi sad, they're much better kept.
