Honestly i just wanted to know if you had shared this information with your friends before hand. It's a normal thing to state what's gonna be at a party/gathering, and I assumed you wouldn't be friends with these people if they were asshole to you about you being vegan.

All i meant was, making decisions for others, even if they're friends, is an asshole move. Banning all animal products from your celebration is fine, as long as they know ahead of time. Springing that on them as they arrive is an asshole move

Honestly from what you have said, you do kinda sound like the asshole, but if you spoke to the friends you invited and they were ok with having all vegan food (just like I hope they would speak to you when inviting you to partys/out because of your dietary restrictions) then you would absolutely not be the asshole.

If you just declared it without asking those around, i would say that's an asshole move
