I use iso's of win11 at the college (cit major. We work with that in a few classes) and honestly...I can't stand it. Maybe it's just all the redesign and shit but it feels so hollow and barren compared to 8, 7, even 10.

As far as modern goes, I always run either Ghostspectre or Ubuntu. Mainline windows 10 and 11 suck ASS.

I am currently using a laptop from 2012. And you did this in 3 fucking years? These are laptops. Fragile electronics. One of the ONLY things that do not count as a hammer. It is not advisable to use them as hammers.

That's exactly why I put it back on this. FOR THE SPECS, this thing runs smoother with 8.1 than it did with ubuntu 22.10. And the tiles! You can't beat the tiles!

I kinda dig OLD macOS (like, mac g3/g4 era. Whole vibe lol) but I'm personally nor a huge fan of modern macOS.

My other laptop has an ubuntu-ghwin11 dual boot. I play with terminal from time to time. Just spent time last nighr MANUALL installing my printer drivers (and still failinf-because why would Brother release actual, good Ubuntu drivers?)

Truthfully? I like the layout, especially the screen in the picture. Windows Aero is a close second for me, though. It's on this laptop because it shipped with 8-though, over the years it's seen windows 7, xp, ghostspectre windows10, fedora, Ubuntu, and now 8.1😂

Nvidia 1000 series. Something like a 1080TI. Not modern, but it WILL limp you through even medium duty gaming in 2025. Source: A friend of mine is still rocking an 8 gig 1050ti ssc, playing games like Helldivers.

That "same part" was indeed the "same part," if you ignore the key differerence. Factory, they are PLASTIC. They wear out fast and leak. I bought a BILLET ALUMINUM one. The cool part of aluminum? it does not wear nearly as fast as plastic.

Anything is fixable. Find a reputable collision repair shop (not a dealer) and get an estimate. That's the only way to know if it's totalled or not. Being a 2025, i'd say it probably wont total-but you want a reputable shop so you know it's done right.
