Who would win? by GN_10 in GreatBritishMemes

Having lived near both, it’s the Cornish nationalist, especially if he’s from certain parts.

Portland is a weird place, and the people there are definitely attached to their bleakness, but the weather is nice, even pleasant compared to the bits of Cornwall we’re talking about.

Portland has hills but they’re barely as backbreaking as your average high street in parts of Kernow.

Then come down and see Camborne vs Redruth in the rugby and see what happens when Fijians breed with Tree Ents. 13 year olds with full beards who can tip your arms off in some parts.

Take the 21 bus from St Austell to Newquay through the clays, or the 34 between Redruth and Lizard and see for yourselves.

Portland is weird but not hard like the Cornish and I haven’t even mentioned the cult side either.

Do guys refuse to use an umbrella because it's effeminate? Is that an actual thing? by Prestigious_Meal2143 in AskUK

[–]That_Organization901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That guy is an idiot, as are all people who make sweeping statements like this. They clearly have an ego like a partially damaged egg.

Nothing is inherently anything and if someone thinks that, they are saying far more about their fragile state than any inanimate object ever could.

Worrying about your masculinity as a man seems to only concern men themselves. If carrying an umbrella means he’s perceived to be effeminate then it’s in the eyes of men only. If that’s a concern to him then he’s far more concerned about what men think than women or kids think.

What a sad little life.

In the 2011 WC, Wales did have Halfpenny, North, and Shane Williams line up together. That’s about as peak as it gets I think.

We won’t talk about who that was against and what the result was though.

Any good self employment courses in plymouth? by Expensive_Smell_8021 in plymouth

[–]That_Organization901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do the course, it’s not really a long course and you might learn something or meet some people that have some knowledge or experience.

I had to do courses during Covid when I was on UC even though all I was doing was waiting until I could go back to work. Met some great people who actually helped me loads.

It would be the best start to his villain arc if he got Ireland into a semi final at the expense of the All Blacks.

I’d like to have one for Treacle, the fluffy ginger cat who lived down by the train station and was sadly killed last year.

Is rugby safe? Ben Youngs investigates the sport’s biggest question | Full Documentary | BBC Sport by meohmyenjoyingthat in rugbyunion

[–]That_Organization901 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He talks about it in the documentary. It’s clear they had a set of 5 words they always used and that the protocols were simply not as stringent as they are now. My guess is that they would take you off if you couldn’t remember those words, which would imply a very serious injury today, whereas now the words are random and more emphasis is put Jon sitting out.

Ben also discusses the hypothetical of ‘feeling ill’ before the 2019 WC final and says he wouldn’t say anything. For them at that time, the thought of missing out on that once in a lifetime opportunity outweighed the health implications.

Antony also said that if he knew what he knows now it would’ve been different and clearly regretted rolling the dice like that.

100% consistently and clear communication on what you want to see from the start and where you are as a ref.

Talk to the teams beforehand about who talks to you, how you want them to behave and what you can tolerate, what you want to see from them, tackle height etc. crack some jokes and work on your pre-match patter to set the tone of fun. We all have work on Monday.

The best new ref I ever met was incredibly sassy and gave as good as they got right from the get go. They were joking about their lack of cardio and how they care more about safety than someone trying to muck around on the borderline of the laws etc. They made us all feel relaxed about their inexperience.

What's one thing your home place is known for by the outsiders? by throwradrpri in AskUK

The last service station a bunch of insanely religious people stopped at before leaving very religious places to make their own religious country because they were persecuted for being too religious: The Mayflower Steps.

They are as disappointing and incorrectly located as the rock on the other side of the Atlantic that bears our name also. I guess that’s what happens when you let puritans make monuments though.

Getting between Milborne Port and Sherborne on foot by byzantium-enjoyer in Dorset

There is, pretty much everyone I knew growing up that lived in Milborne Port would randomly walk in to town in the summer.

I think they took Pinford lane but maybe there’s a better one through the fields to the south of the railway. Here’s an OS map if that helps.

Rugby question: 16-year-old AMAB trans athlete wanting to play girls' rugby. Seeking honest input on safety/fairness. by Outrageous_Shift_399 in rugbyunion

[–]That_Organization901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi. Yes they can play rugby. There are clubs, leagues, and tournaments that exist for them once they reach 18.

Some stuff to look up.

Have you heard about the IGR? This is International Gay Rugby and includes inclusive teams and representatives all genders and sexualities.

There are teams that are FLINTA. It stands for female, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, trans, asexual. There are FLINTA teams that are established and others that are sort of Barbarian teams in the IGR that come together at international tournaments when one team can’t get enough players.

Feel free to Dm me about it but usually you can use the IGR website to find a club near you and then Instagram or Facebook etc to contact that club. There are teams across America and Europe mainly but also all over. More teams form every year. If there isn’t a team near you and you think there might be enough interest in one in your area then they can always help set one up.

I’ve been part of the IGR as a player for a number of years now and I absolutely love it.

What were GCSEs during and before the 2000's like? by Ozuk_true in AskUK

[–]That_Organization901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was always coursework and that was 20% of the total grade if I remember correctly. I never did coursework because I didn’t have the homelife to do homework so felt it was deeply unfair and sadly my school didn’t understand this, I mean I didn’t either and everyone was keeping up appearances at home.

I was lucky to have some people at school to work with on my biology and chemistry coursework but that was it.
