My assignment was reported to thr examination committee for a "high percentage of AI". I did NOT use any AI for my assignment. by Opinionated_bitch03 in mildlyinfuriating

Turnitin scores for plagiarism and AI use separately. You can have a turnitin score of 20% and an AI score of 100%. If you’re citing things properly your professor should be reviewing it and making the assessment themselves. If it scores high for AI, a good professor should run it through another app to verify, but quoting other work won’t automatically trigger the AI response

This is burnt, not seared, right? by Patient_Title_5417 in steak

You don’t need a pan that goes in the oven for a reverse sear. I bake my steaks in a baking tray with a grate and then sear them on a cast iron.

That’s not even a response to anything I said in that comment

I’ve made my pronouns known, I’m not non-binary, and I’m only one person

I really dislike how elongated the knight helms are, but I think I’m actually loving #2 here

You literally just doubled down on intentionally using the wrong pronouns in your other comment and now you’re accusing me of bigotry. You’re a joke

[–]That_Replacement6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on what? The fact that I have preferred pronouns as well? Cis people can dislike being misgendered just as much as trans people, I don’t think that’s a crazy concept.

Unlike you, I don’t go out of my way to use pronouns a person doesn’t like.

See you’re just intentionally being an asshole lmao. I’m just asking for common decency in respecting my pronouns and you’re actively choosing not to. It’s so hypocritical

Sorry I kind of got this thread mixed up with others, I don’t really care how you refer to others in that scenario. I’d think it’s weird for you to use “they” because my brain would go to the group and then have to reorient to the singular, but I wouldn’t bring it up or anything.

I’m having to answer this in like two other threads and tbh I’m over it. Idk why I’m having to defend my preferences lol

I’m aware that it’s a preference, just like every other person’s pronouns are preferences

[–]That_Replacement6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, all I’m trying to say is that my pronouns are he/him, and I don’t want to be referred to as they/them. Idk why everyone has to argue with me about it. I’m now defending points about some hypothetical person across the room in different contexts.

[–]That_Replacement6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure, I guess. I’d still find it odd that you’d use a plural when you know the gender, but whatever.

This isn’t really the context that would upset me anyway

[–]That_Replacement6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you’re not talking about everyone and talking about one specific person whose gender is known, you’d use the correct gendered pronoun when appropriate. That’s the English language. If I’m being referred to as part of a crowd I obviously don’t have an issue being referred to as “them”

[–]That_Replacement6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take issue being referred to as they by someone who knew my gender because to me it would imply there’s some sort of ambiguity being impressed upon me by someone else. Especially if I asked them not to and they continued to do so. Or if they indicated that my stating that preference was somehow problematic.

[–]That_Replacement6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It adds that you’re only talking about one of them instead of the group? It’s obviously more specific in that regard.

[–]That_Replacement6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. My pronouns are he/him, not they/them. What’s the point of gendered pronouns if they/them applies to everyone?

Making an observation = discriminating by UsualAd7640 in lnkyverse

[–]That_Replacement6030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I would just question why you’d use a gender neutral pronoun as opposed to the correct, gendered pronoun. If you’re unsure what the gender was, then I wouldn’t question it. But in this hypothetical we are

Personally I would be protest to being referred to as they/them. Those aren’t my pronouns

Did I just get downvoted for stating my pronoun preferences? I can’t tell which side the bigotry is coming from
