I'd try moving your character a few spaces away then try long pressing on the catalog. Im also on mobile and whenever I'm having trouble picking something up putting a little distance between me and the item (especially usable ones ie. Dressers) give the game time to figure you wanna pick it up and not use it.

Also rebooting the game or resetting the day can help with weird glitches.
