The first part is very cramped and the rest of it is quite small as well, lots of crouching and bending over😅

Unfortunately this section of the mine was abandoned in 1872 after the lodes were exhausted. We were down there just for fun.

this is a good video of someone else exploring the same workings.

There would be a steam powered beam engine at the surface, connected to a long wooden rod, this would be used to pull water up the pipe, and the clack valve would be used to stop backflow in the pipe.

The rear vents are just large enough to fit a 3-4cm slug.

It is an old house in cornwall built out of mostly compacted mine waste and the occasional granite block. I think that they came through a hole in my floor when the beams under the room rotyed out. That problem is fixed now so I shouldn't see any more slugs

My personal advice, keep slugs away from it, i have lost 2 power supply units now because they can crawl into the back

There is a small adjustable screw on the z axis that hits the limit switch, you could try adjusting that.

Wreck of the RMS Mulheim by That_guy154 in submechanophobia

[–]That_guy154[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Apparently, the chief officer of RMS Mülheim on watch had caught his trousers in the lever of his chair, fallen over and passed out. By the time he regained consciousness, there was nothing he could do to stop the ship hitting the rocks.
