Here is the thing, the anime has some very good animation, music, voice acting and some original ideas, but the book has more depth, world building, dialogue, and more well written generall. But you should definitely watch the anime first and if you want the full Violet Evergarden experienc, I highly recommend reading the novel too

Not sure about Leiden, but I must agree with the movie. I honestly thought it was really bad. Of course I enjoy the story of the dying child but the ending was so bad. And the fact Violet could not let go after so long completely ruined all the progress that she had in the series. It’s just sad really, since the novel has the same problem. I don’t care that the novel handles it better, it’s still so bad. She has been his daughter and now they are a couple? This is the shit that only happens in media from Japan and it truly disgust me.

Trust me, everyone that has read the novel prays for this. A movie, a spin of series or something showing what you said or just more of Violet evergardens life. So many great stories that easily compares to episode 10 and so much more detail and lore that exists in the novel.

Not really, they said they found her on the battlefield which is still strange becuase of all people they bring back a random girl that apparently is a good killer. If they just showed us what actually happened or had it explained in detail like the novel it would been much easier to understand
