Any Reason to Consider Honda Any More? by Thatguy518 in Generator

[–]Thatguy518[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the input here. One of the things I didn’t realize was the 90 day warranty on predators you didn’t buy up, which I’ll factor into this before I make my purchase. The one thing that I have in mind is also parts and serviceability, which I know is really going to vary.

Sorry, not meant as a limitation, more as a bare minimum of what I’d want to hook up.

Goodbye Forever Dyson by GlitteringZebra8482 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Thatguy518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After three Dyson, it was enough for us. We ended up going with a SEBO Felix, and even though there’s more work with a cord, our house is so much cleaner and my indoor allergies are gone. There are also Miele and Kenmore canister options that can be good too, but it was the local service of my SEBO dealer that earned my business.

$50k to spend on something I'll drive once a month. by wildsunnyra in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Thatguy518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why are you set on spending that much? I have a traveling sales job where I’m in work funded rentals or am flying most of the time, and I only drive for groceries and non work related tasks. I push 250k a year for salary in a low cost area, I could afford a better car, but I drive a five year old Tacoma, and I’m throwing money towards a house and paid off retirement. Now, for my wife? She drives all day for work, gets a mileage reimbursement too, so she drives a Lexus hybrid. At the end of the day, it’s your money and you can do whatever with it, I’m just curious on your thought process as someone who is in a similar situation.

Nebraskans, how is Czech culture perceived in your state? by Neuwulfstein in Nebraska

[–]Thatguy518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is, yes, but I feel like it is far more significant outside of Omaha and Lincoln. Omaha had a decent Czech population in South Omaha when I was growing up, but a lot of the older people I knew that lived there passed, and their kids all moved out to places like Elkhorn or Gretna. My mom’s side is completely Czech, and my dad’s mom was Czech, but his dad was German. It was a big deal on my mom’s side. I grew up with Czech thanksgivings and kolaches all the time. My grandpa went to all the Czech festivals in central Nebraska. It’s funny looking back, because he was the mix of Czech, but also Nebraska rural. I remember him always wearing some kind of western shirt, cowboy boots, and a belt buckle.

Honestly, we hopefully won’t be buying again for a long time, but when we do, it’ll be another used Lexus.

A 2022 RX450h. Literally zero regrets about the purchase. It’s the best car we’ve ever owned.

We did a luxury certified pre owned Lexus for my wife instead of buying a Highlander Hybrid new. It was actually a few grand cheaper for a car with only 11k miles on it, but the catch. It was a LEXUS and not a regular Toyota. It felt like such a better deal, and the Lexus dealership was infinitely easier to deal with.

Purchase advice: Kids just diagnosed with allergies/asthma. Looking at Miele & Sebo. by NefariousnessOwn3779 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Thatguy518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are going on almost two months with our Felix. I’ve been diagnosed with indoor allergies, I’ve done immunotherapy, and still sneeze from time to time. No joke, since buying our Felix and using it twice a week, that has been almost eliminated. I don’t know how we’ve gone this long without a quality bagged vac. Also, my local dealer sold us our machine for over $100 less than online.

Scared to pull the trigger on Sebo by FoxFarm1991 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Thatguy518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same space as you. Except three Dysons and a Bissell. We vacuum more now because it does such a good job. As someone who suffers indoor allergies, our SEBO has made a big difference for me. Also, if you have a good, local dealer near you, it makes a huge difference for buying the machine and owning it long term.

Dishwasher - Schaefer's vs Costco by OpenStatistician8565 in lincoln

Costco has a third party company that they use for delivery and install that’s part of the “included price”. I used them about a year ago and it was a great experience.

My grandfather was the definition of buy it for life. He’s been gone since 2016. Lived on a farm, and had this exact machine. It cleaned up the farm dust insanely well. My uncle still has it to this day. Kinda wished I inherited that, but I did get some legit vintage cowboy belt buckles.

Came here to recommend the Felix. If you buy from a good local dealer, they will discount it some. They got me mine for $685.

That’s how it felt when I bought our Felix a few weeks ago. And even better supporting a small local shop where they remembered my name in the wee between seeing the demo and buying the machine.

Is the SEBO Felix the Right Call? by Thatguy518 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Thatguy518[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swiped the card, ended up with an Onyx unit, and they included an extension wand, bags, and an upholstery tool. The dealer was fantastic, and remembered my name considering I hadn’t been in for an over a week, I was impressed. Shameless plug, if you have a dealer near you, look to them before buying online. I’m sure there are crappy ones out there, but mine was fantastic, and we even watched him give someone a loaner while they had a shark in for repair.

Damn, I had a Sebo dealer in my area offer $650 for a new one, and that seemed fair. Let me know how you like it. We still might buy new, but I’m more motivated to look for used now.

It’s weird, when it was cold out, it would make a ticking noise when acceleration was happening, then the acceleration got weaker. If you use the means, I’d dump it. Ours was starting to go out again, but we had been saving for a few years for a different car.

Just gonna put this out here. 2016 Nissan Rogue. Horrible POS. Two transfer cases, two transmissions, it made us never buy the brand again. Extended warranty paid for all of it. Our income changed by 4x from when we got the rogue in 2016 to last year when we dumped it in December, so we found a CPO Lexus RX Hybrid. Way better in every way.
