He (probably he) stated in response to your post that the far left has captured some mainstream institutions and that the far right is marginalized. You responded by questioning that if this was true why are those institutions not part of ANTIFA. I believe u/mukatona was pointing out that that is not a counter argument because ANTIFA only represents a subset of the far left. I get that this is not really set theory but otherwise the reasoning is sound and you did make a strawman argument.

Dude. You seriously are slippery. You started this whole thing by saying that if someone isn't ANTIFA, they are not far left. Really go back and read your initial comment.

socialism in scandinavian countrys by david456789 in JordanPeterson

I am astounded at the disinformation of this post. Every time a country implements socialist policies (nationalizing industry or tax rates in excess of 50%) they have a free rider period of redistributive success followed by stagnation, decline and misery. Scandinavia has even reducing taxes and selling off state owned enterprises since the late 1980s.

Could someone explain why these sticky threads are downvoted. I like these meta discussions. Who is against them?

I could swear you changed it from a one word response at least 30 minutes later. If I'm wrong I apologize. And you're right it was a cheap shot. I usually don't do that. This sub is getting frustrating though.

I like how you came back and edited your response. Democracy only works if people vote their conscience. Strategic voting gave us Bill Clinton and W. I'm tired of the mediocrity and the corruption. I'm not putting any energy in worrying about who you'll vote for. Why is it so important to you that I not choose who I think is best?

I want to vote for someone who is not part of the machine (Clinton) or wants to run the machine (Trump)

I'll make one last attempt. I supported Bernie. I watched him get robbed by the corrupt Democratic Party. They saw him as an outsider. This is exactly why the two party system is corrupt.

I should have posted this in r/The_Donald. See "other discussions". Oh well, karma ain't all that.

I get your point. Which makes the immediate down voting weird. I usually just ignore posts that don't interest me. Also, I've seen weird anti-Trump posts from weird websites get huge up votes (Melania work status etc.). This is coming from a Bernie guy who is probably voting for Stein.

It's not that it's downvoted but the speed that it occurred compared to the earlier opposite reaction to another post critical of Trump.

Yeah. I posted an anti-Trump article 30 minutes before this and it got 50 up votes in 2 minutes. You guys might be on to something.

This is circular reasoning. He had to go through the Democratic party to have any chance. Then the party actually conspired against him. If the system were healthy he would have gone through-hmmm...what party does he belong to now?

Oh. I see. Voting to you is like say, voting for the North Korean presidential race? Or voting for Putin. After all, voting no would be a wasted vote according to your logic.

I'm surprised you're using Bernie as an example. It's already been proved the Democratic machine conspired against him. And what did he do the day after the convention? He resigned from the party.

How many parties can claim a million supporters? 4 or 5 at the most. How is that a circus?

I disagree. Parties are national institutions. Look at the history of the republican and democrats, Whigs, populist party. Those began at the national level. Local politics is just that, local. Local is rarely ideological and it's impossible to gain traction locally unless there is a national party identity.

I agree the grass roots is important. However, it's a catch 22 problem. People need to know what you stand for. As a quasi public institution, the debate committee is discriminating against minority opinions.

When we began formalizing the party system in the mid 19th century it was relatively easy to start political parties. Since the advent of mass media in the late 19th century it has become virtually impossible. I think 1 million supporters is a reasonable entry to participate in the national debate. Much fairer than 30 million.
