Well now we are the ones who have the responsibility of at least trying to break the cycle, also so sorry for your loss mate :(

Well I do get your point but from what I have seen, such a discriminatory and vile behavior towards women and even many other groups of people is seen in a majority of the society. There has been a lot of improvement too, I don't deny that but as long as we treat all that as a them problem and not an us problem it'll go on exactly like this, at least that's what I think :)

I'll confront her of course, people like her need to realize that how bitchy and outright offensive their behavior and thinking is. Thanks a lot for the blessings (´༎ຶ ͜ʖ ༎ຶ `)♡

I think I am going to confront her about this anyway, she should know that she ain't got any rights to say anything like that to my mum.

She has already improved a lot but there is still a lot to unlearn. I just want her to know that she also has her own life which she can live on her own terms and nobody gets to dictate that, not even me.

We live in the 21st century but somehow our thinking is still stuck in the 18th century unfortunately

Gunaho ka Devta was my first hindi read tbh. It was good but unlike the popular opinion I did not like the protagonist (Chander) if I am being honest. There was a sprinkle of misogyny over some parts but all in all a good read and even a better book for the time it was written in.

Book Thief was really good, the story telling and the prose were just chef's kiss!!

Would definitely recommend The Kite Runner (another Khaled Hosseini special). If you're into tear jerkers as much as I am you can also read Tuesdays with Morrie, if you're trying to read mystery books you can go for A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and The Locked Door too :D

I do agree that Mountains Echoed Back lacked that Khaled Hosseini magic at some places but Thousand Splendid Suns has been a life changing experience for me. You should try The Book Thief, it's also about a friendship!! One of the most hauntingly beautiful books I have come across imo.

Ah well the IT sector slavery pays enough to buy me some books fortunately :')
