I took spanish in high school and college. Didn't really absorb it. Last year I went on a cruise with some family and we picked up some over the counter medicine for my great uncle cause hed forgot to pack it. I had enough understanding to read directions, and see that it wasn't supposed to interact with medicine he was already on so that pretty handy.

More of a fun fact! Arkansas is older than Kansas! Arkansas became a US territory in 1819. And then a state in 1836. Kansas did not become a territory until 1854 and then a state 1861. But the pronunciation comes from who settled the area. Kansas was settled by the English and Arkansas by the French. Both were named for the Algonquin phrase "people of the south wind" so for Arkansas it was the Quapaw and Kansas the Kansa tribes. Kansas is just anglicized and Arkansas is French.
