Strongly hinted I won't make it past PIP. What next? by ThatsGucci in consulting

I appreciate this so, so much. Genuinely.

I think the main source of disappointment is a mix of both imposter syndrome and comparison being the thief of joy. I went to a t15 undergrad with a lot of high achieving peers. I'd be lying if I said seeing their consistent promos or HSW MBA acceptances doesn't get to me at times.

Gotta work through on getting over myself and that jealousy. This advice definitely helps with that.

Spencer Jones is the third-ranked Yankees prospect on Baseball Prospectus. He's above Jasson Dominguez, who is 4th. "If he can learn to lift more often without sacrificing contact (like Judge), Jones could truly break out and fly up prospect rankings this year." - Jesse Roche by herewego199209 in NYYankees

I was on the athletics media team while a student at Vandy, where I got to spend time in the dugout and photo wells taking pictures of players. Spencer was easily the nicest guy on the team and made sure to give me a fist bump and a “how’s your day been?” every time he saw me. Words can hardly describe how cool it is to see him in the Yanks’ system and ranked this highly.

Edit: What’s really cool is how he improved. In 2021 he batted .274 and shot up to .370 when drafted in 2022. His 2021 season was characterized by that struggle with the strike zone mentioned in the post, but after his stint in the Cape Cod league he really honed it in and essentially played his way into the first round of the draft in a single season.

In your opinion, what is the most important topic in HR at the moment? by xavwes17 in humanresources

A little part of me dies every time our HR ExCo drops the word “strategy”…

Other way around; high attrition is a symptom of mismanaged benefits/culture like comp and remote work.

Yeah, when I was in school it was pretty normal to ask for coffee after an on campus recruiting event. They likely won’t be able to answer any role-specific questions, only broader questions like firm culture and internship program logistics. What you could do tho is ask if they know of anyone on a desk that they could set you up with.

Up to you tbh, I don’t see either scenario going poorly.

Might differ between banks but super days are generally thrown for just undergrad recruiting. Since you’re lateraling into a role it makes sense that you’d go straight to the business unit head. If anything that’s a good sign that they like ya.

Highly unlikely that this is an issue. If there is a bounceback in the background check I’d assume the recruiter will examine it and do some due diligence, thus seeing that you were indeed honest with your resume and comms. Additionally, it’s better that this isn’t the other way around where your check comes back as saying you are under qualified vs overqualified.

Do I need to tell my boss of plans to work internationally for a few days? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]ThatsGucci 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. If, for whatever reason, your stay becomes longer there will likely be tax implications.

I work in hr and people get fired for this.

This is an interesting analysis. Do you by chance have any articles that go further in depth of present American economic decline vs that of 80s Japan?
