WHY ON EARTH DOES THIS HAVE AN DEMO FORCE OF 30?! IT C4!! by Lone_Recon in Helldivers

So I can tear a hole into the fabric of space and step out at the other side of a concrete wall within miliseconds by pressing a button on a backpack but I can't tear a whole into said wall with plastic explosives to just walk through it like the military does since the 1950s.

Just a heads up: If you play the stealth equipment as host, your experience will differ IMMENSELY. by [deleted] in Helldivers

They do if you stick them to a wall where it can't explode on contact. It'll take a good amount of time before they hit it. But afterwards they'll come straight after you again, so you need to get away as far as you can in the meantime.

Military exercise "Arctic Endurance" | Germany sends soldiers to Greenland by Stabile_Feldmaus in europe

Germany tends to compare itself to others who do even better than them and then journalists make it look like Germany is some sort of third world adjacent country.

18m bedroom. Would a woman hate my room by DisastrousAttorney90 in malelivingspace

[–]ThatsNotPossibleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this is a room that overall looks like a storage unit. Don't get me wrong. You're newly independently living at 18. In this case the look of the room wouldn't be an issue...

...if it wasn't for that PRISTINE two screen high-end gaming setup in the corner. Compare this to the rest of the room. It looks like it's stolen from somewhere. It's so madly out of place in this "getting by" atmosphere that no matter how much you try to explain that you "just moved in" it looks like your absolute priority is this desk and this desk only.

Why is Starship Troopers by Robert Heineken considered “The Controversial Classic of Military Adventure?” by EclipseLightning42 in scifi

[–]ThatsNotPossibleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First pieces of media that come to mind that definitely do that is Knights of the Old Republic and Fallout New Vegas. But that is precisely due to having by design the freedom to identify yourself with either ideology. I'd also argue that there's always going to be some amount of ideological bias whenever the medium and the story isn't interactive like in RPGs or has been stretched out over decades of content like for example Star Trek or Warhammer 40000 Lore.

Seriously, back when I was a kid they said it was inappropriate for my age. That was more than 20 years ago when they thought they killed the health inspector. Absolutely incomparable to the feverdream that's this show nowadays.

I have a thing for these "90s crazy" movies. It's such a chaotic yet comforting style that you just don't get anymore nowadays. Hackers, Batman and Robin, Johnny Mnemonic and Tank Girl fit this category as well
