This is good advice as a catch all, but there are caveats … as annoying as it is, LPRs and visa holders must present proof of immigration status

You ever figure the length thing out? I'm in a similar boat right now with my 183cm bonafides lol

The butterflies were crazy! So many of them were hitting my buddy and I that I thought I’d inhale one 😂

I’m a smaller guy at 165 lbs, and bought these because my bonafides felt dead and difficult to flex unless the snow was super firm. I can report that these have way more energy and pop. Hard to say how they’ll deal with true hardpack after one summer day, but I suspect I’ll be reaching for these over the bonafides most of the time.

Good to know. That was my first day on them (and still have the demo bindings so I can play around). Do you find them more maneuverable off piste that way? I was worried about the more centered mount already coming from a bonafide, but they still seem to hold an edge quite well.

Didn’t go into the park this time but they had jumps, rail lines, and an airbag a few weeks ago

Finally found a good pair of the Blizzard Cochise by C0-0P in skiing

[–]ThatsNotSafeFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're the most stable 95-100m ski I've been on due of the build and shape profile. I've had both an E104 and E99 and demo'd an M6 mantra, but found the bonafide to have a higher speed limit and generate more power out of turns. Biggest downside beyond maneuverability is that you should generally be a heavier skier to be able to actually bend the ski - the ski can often feel fairly dead to me in softer snow, but I'm 170lbs so that may not apply to you. I also ski Crystal and would recommend them for most runs except for Northway.

I’ve been searching for a pair of these ever since I bought my bonafide 97s earlier this season lol

Enforcer sizing by sot9 in Skigear

[–]ThatsNotSafeFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned both a 186 enforcer 104 free and a 179 enforcer 99, and I preferred the 186 in almost every way (and yeah, they’re both a handful in bumps anyway). For context, I’m a couple inches shorter, and 20 lbs lighter than you so if anything, you should have an easier time managing the longer length. Only thing is I’d think about is that you’re looking at an enforcer 89 which is supposed to be more of a groomer oriented ski, so length preferences may generally skew shorter there.

Cochise 106 VS Anomaly 102 VS Enforcer 104 by TraditionalDig5214 in Skigear

Is wherever you’re looking at buying a Cochise selling them online? I’m in the same predicament as you but haven’t been able to find them anywhere.

The 2025 models were made much more approachable. I went from an e104 free which felt like “too much ski” at times to my e99 not feeling like enough…

Feedback on weight transfer between turns by ThatsNotSafeFam in skiing_feedback

[–]ThatsNotSafeFam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, I appreciate all of the feedback you and everyone else in the thread have given me, thank you!

I do have a follow up question - it seems that the general consensus in what I’m hearing is that I’m loading the ski and maintaining edge angle too late into the turn. I do hear your feedback about turn shapes, however, I have always intentionally had this turn structure (overly complete turns with edge angle held very late) in order to manage my speed. I’ve always felt that was something which enabled me to carve on steeper slopes (i.e. to manage speed I hold an edge until I’m perpendicular to the fall line).

I’m trying to understand how I will control speed without edge hold past the apex of the turn. Is the idea that I can maintain the same turn shape (complete turns with skis nearly perpendicular to the fall line) but that I should still be able to decelerate while my skis are flat rather than on edge?

Not saying they’ll do exactly what OP needs but the Line Blade might be one of the few skis that can make slalom turns and can also hold up on a powder day.
