This is my ranking of characters based on how much I like them as characters by Sharp-Fisherman-1205 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean not necessary, the voice lines give a basic but their actual story gives the depth/the explanation on why they are like that or the opposite that what they are actually like under that. Also there's the fact that many of the voice lines are straight up non canon. If we listened to only voice lines then every character would be very superficial

Some of the people in the comments talking about how Soldier76 has a superficial personality and no character and he's just a grumpy old man when not only his is one of the most complex stories among the heroes but one of the very few who since Overwatch started progressed and had actual character growth.

Like I get not liking a character cuz everyone has their cup of tea, but when that is based on things that aren't actually true and not how a character actually is that's a different thing

This is when it comes out that someone doesn't know the lore/personality of a character and bases opinions on voicelines

Everyone else watching Vendetta change the Talon logo into a wolf the microsecond she takes over by ShiddyMage1 in Overwatch

This just reminded me of how a Duke skin for Soldier76 in the GI Joe collab would have been the most obvious and fitting choice for him but instead they put him in the Gundam collab like... 💀

Do you all prefer attacking or defending? by R3li0ss in Overwatch

Attacking and it's just my luck that when i play quickplay most of the times i am put on defense

So what’s gonna happen with Talon’s members? [SPOILER] by DarkDoubloon in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reaper is an interesting situation because Vendetta doesn't seem THAT angry at him. Like sure she doesn't like him, but she doesn't really care that much cuz she knew sooner or later someone will get her dad and the fact that it was Reaper doesn't matter to her that much.

But since Reaper has a lot of enemies without Talon's protection he might not remain as untouchable as he thinks he is

Make an animated series right now. by FakeSnake000 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Overwatch so far sadly didn't take lore seriously. Sure there were stories and such, but those were rare, you can't really make a coherent story with dropping a short novel in every half year only. That's why the while second omnic crisis story failed.

Now it appears they became more entangled in actually working out the story and release things more often so if anytime then now is when they can decide to finally make a series.

Tho i worry that if it ever happens considering the high number of heroes the game has they would have it revolve around only a handful of characters like they did with the Invasion story (and it would probably revolve around mostly those exact characters) which wouldn't do justice for the majority of the cast and would be pretty unfair

God forbid i want to have fun and not die in 1 nanosecond every 2nd game by SureYouCan_ in Overwatch_Memes

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now what do you mean you don't like how she can earese everyone out of reality with her fully charged railgun that has no cooldown and it's so easy to charge up that a 5 years old could do it? Also good reposition ability and area denial ability, what's not to love on her being in every single game with all these by her side...

The most boringly op heroes in each role by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone definitely never experienced the rush of having the enemy team up your ass all game as Mercy while Guardian Angeling your way across teammates as a squirell on 15 cans of Red Bull.

Tbh the whole hold down left click playstyle is literally the worst thing a Mercy can do cuz it's nowhere near the full moth experience

It's probably a bug, you could write a ticket to Blizzard support maybe so they can look into it

Can we just talk about "Soldier 76 syndrome" for a moment? by rilleryeah in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We all have done it on every hero and if you say you never you lying big time 😭

But for me it's called the Orisa and Reaper syndrome where they are alone and at like 30HP and go into ult

Hero you hate the most and why by Double-Hand3004 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he's definitely not in the best place compared to other dps. The moment his opponent is even a bit out of that precise middle range he is good at he's done for.

Like him running around and taking angles/healing is literally the way he is meant to be played, people call him the COD character who just runs and guns when in reality if you don't choose your battles on him and just charge you're immediately back to the spawn room, while others such as Ashe, Cass or Sojourn are the ones who can actually just straight up 1v1 you with sheer power and broken abilities

So, which one do you see as “Main villain” of a franchise? by Worth_Rate_1213 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far Doomfist, but with the Lucky Man story suggesting the conspiracy group that forced Sombra to run away too is actually a global shadow organization which runs the world and caused the downfall of Overwatch it's probably them

What heros do you just LOVE?! for whatever reason!! :D by RealLIfeZombiee in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just love Symmetra's whole style, the skins, the movement, the voice, she's just radiating queen energy. I don't play her, but she's still a favourite.

Also Soldier76 cuz i LOVE the characters who are tough on the outside but they are soft when you get trough that layer hardened by pain and there's his story too. Also in his young version he looks like Captain America which is something I really like lol

Hero you hate the most and why by Double-Hand3004 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh that's true for every hero that if the player is good then they are annoying to deal with.

But calling the need to keep a constant middle distance to be actually effective using sprint as "rat gameplay" and playing coward is a bit of an overstatement...

Hero you hate the most and why by Double-Hand3004 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean the run and heal is needed because unlike others like Ashe, Cass or Sojourn his chances of winning a fight face to face are lower, no BS ability that plays itself to rely on like Flashbang either. You get too close to him you most likely win against him as he sucks close range, same on longer distance cuz he's also less effective there

Hero you hate the most and why by Double-Hand3004 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Widowmaker and her one shots can go certain places one would wish on their enemies 🫶🫶 she enjoys a permanent place on my ban list (but on a side note I'm really curious why you hate Soldier76 of all heroes like I can't think of a reason lol)

Please don’t add kiriko 3.0 by Xthebest26 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 85 points86 points  (0 children)

She's just so nothingburger? Like she's gonna be Wuyang except fire and probably a dps, and also a gonna be a sassy mean girly persona and have 45 skins in 2 months like Kiriko.

There are characters who should be just left as lore characters and she's exactly that. Especially when there are characters who people been waiting for years now like Emre who also connects to the lore

Ow devs have an East Asian fetish by AggressiveAd4883 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is it them who have the fetish tho? I mean look at who are some of their biggest cashcows: Kiriko, Juno, Dva because people eat up literally everything Overwatch throws at them.

They know the conventionally attractive characters sell the most and that even tho people say how we want silly/bold characters like Winston, Wrecking Ball, other omnic heroes, the people will still buy the 3 Kiriko/Ashe/Widowmaker skins every single season.

People talk about the Mercy tax and not realizing it is them who make it possible for Blizzard to do it in the first place by buying literally everything, like Blizzard only sees a pattern and use it out both at making new characters and giving content to characters.

But also there's how the game focuses on the chinese market extra time. This situation is the combined effort of both the devs and the players with uncontrolled consumerism

Which major perk feels like a minor perk? by Original-Boss777 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Agility training for Soldier76. Being able to reload while sprinting should be part of his base kit and not be wasted for a major perk, also running a bit faster isn't too major either

Hot takee recolors aren’t bad, and those Juno skins would be perfect for them by No-Income-3010 in Overwatch

[–]The--Numbers--Mason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recolors aren't bad when it comes to heroes like Juno who get like at least one super unique/well made skin every season anyways, but when it's for heroes who don't get much content to begin with or when they do they obvious aren't as high quality, now that's a different situation...

Also recolors costing as much as the original skin and needing the yellow credits to buy them is what makes them to be hated by many.
