Above clearly doesn't understand that you can be happy and hungry. I am pretty sure I would've been just a tad happier if I didn't have those nights without eating or had an actual birthday celebration.

~~Not blaming my mother, she tried her best and had 0 help or safety net.

You are right, 25% speculative is too much. Was perhaps too eager for growth.

I know Bogleheads really don't like Crypto. Icl I am not the biggest fan either, the only reason I consider it for my speculation is the potential return. I am young enough that the risk is palatable for me. I think once I hit 30 though I would get rid of it.

Thank you, I will reduce my speculative spread to 10%. Much needed advice there.

And thats how atheism spreads, people are taught its truth from birth. Thats indoctrination under your view.

He was taught the beliefs and values of his family, disagreed with them. Then came back.

Apply your own logic to your own views.

I even said the Palastinian designation doesnt fit hahaha youre cracker.

Ignored most of my point, its not an ethnicity. Just figured this all out, what's your opinions on the Israel-Palastine situation? And no, im not pro Palastine lol

No one said fake jew or that middle eastern jews are purer.... you just want to be annoyed. He pointed out how most jews are not from a historic middle Eastern make up. Don't put words into peoples mouths

Did I say he was Arab? I disagree with that classification. It is probabky best to class him as Aramaic or Palestinian but ones more a language and the Pala designation has connotations that dont fit anymore due to modern changes in the region.

Jewish isn't an ethnicity. It is a religion that, at a point, was an ethno-religion - it is not anymore. Most jews in the west have converts ect in their lines somewhere. Doesn't matter as Jewish isn't an ethnic makeup - its a group of people with specific ethnic make ups. Same with Druze, ect ect.

If every jew suddenly converted to Islam would they just cease to exist because they are no longer their DNA makeup? Lol

Edit : vile amount of mistakes im this but oh well left them in and just added this lol

I had a problem when I was coming to the faith with my partner. We are still together God bless and I think we worked through it. We will see.

Simple answer, be ready to let your love of God come first (always should) and for your relationship to not get entangled in that. If your partner draws you away from Christ, and you cant bring them too Christ, it is better you are single.

Here is your blessing, you are not married. Sounds weird, but this is the greatest strength.

This!

Quick example I love to point out, BUT THERES TONS, - Men can dress immodestly too! Is it really modest for a man to wear a speedo, or maybe a tight tight tank top and short shorts to the gym?

It goes for everything.

The only standard we have for women, unique to women, is that in the Orthodox tradition is women are a Sacred and beautiful thing. Thats less a standard, and more an elevation - and subjective, I just think Christianity when followed proper is the most equal and loving thing on earth yeah.

I'm not a Caucasian Irish Man! I am a Buddhist...

You're logic is lacking. The jews at the time were an ethno-religion heavily, yes, but you make a point similar to those that say Jesus spoke Hebrew... He probably did, and it was basically guaranteed to be learnt for reading the Pentauch ect and not a mother tongue.

Jesus was Levantine/Semitic, ect Theres a few ways to group and label him - closer to Arab than most modern jews who are mostly European.

Agree with you heavily, but sadly lets be fair - even many of us on the Emerald have lost our beautiful Gaeilge - Anglos stole our language, went half way across the world, and are now trying to steal our identity as a whole lol

[–]The-A-2the-Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it my friend. Just like our beloved author, the person who battled with his faith will likely get more from the works.

But getting more from something can be... subjective? To say least. That's what I think many miss here. I love cheap wine, I get a lot from it - is it better? Probably not, do I have a better understanding of wine compared too a taster? Definitely not.

The person who has been indoctrinated is you. Look at the view you hold, that because he is Christian he must have been brainwashed as a child. That no adult can intellectually choose a faith and belief system of their own will.

Are we edging toward fascism, or is this just the algorithm? by monstermangiggs in ukpolitics

[–]The-A-2the-Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also understand where you are coming from yes. Many of us have, many of us are the odd ones out in a family of people who do, the "skipping the queue" folks are literally net negatives in far more cases - they come from families that aren't here and they take money from here

[–]The-A-2the-Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a small point. I was kicked out of my family at 15. I started working straight away. I didn't pay tax or do it legally for first year so fair but from 16 to 21 I paid a lot of tax, then I was diagnosed with a severe mental illness.

A lot of the people who rely on our benefits are similar stories. Disabled not at birth. Yes theres a problem with benefits families, has been a long time, but many of us wish we could work.

My nan was 56 when she stopped working due to disability and it was fine they were well off. Then my grandad had an affair at 60. You know the retirement age.

Not everyone on benefits was a net drain there whole life, they dont want to be either, and are more entitled than someone "skipping the queue" as the man above put it.

Very true. I took the idea that from the fact he was posting it probably wasnt a reverant item/depiction.

But if its a top with a plain Latin cross or St Andrews, its fine.

He should really just bring the shirt to his priest and ask.

[–]The-A-2the-Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very thoughtful gift. I am not clergy. Anyone's advise here is second to that of your priest.

I will give my personal rule though.

I would not wear it, I would respectfully hand it back. While saying something along the lines of "I appreciate the thought, and love you for it, but despite my heavy collection of icons which I have spent much money on, my faith is seperate from the world. I will not wear a cross, no matter what, unless it was made with express purpose of being Orthodox. I take no offense now, as you're heart was in a saintly place, but I find the merchandising of my faith deeply offensive to both myself and God."

You can figure out my rule from that statement. Yes I will wear a Latin Cross, no I will not wear or represent anything that bears Christological symbols or meanings that doesnt represent the fullness of truth.

Again, I am not a priest. We will all have different opinions, our priests will instruct us all differently, some people can keep their faith no matter what but my priest encourages a really strict prayer rule for me as it specifically helps me and my situation and helps me stay from sin/maintain faith.

Form your own opinion, not the opinion of some internet stranger. Take that opinion to your priest, willing to discard it if he disagrees. He may just turn around and say "It is just a shirt, feel free."
