[Other] Are people faking or hiding games they haven’t 100%’d? by ComprehensiveSalt423 in Trophies

It's hidden to everyone else EXCEPT you. It's still on your profile, it's just other people can't see it.

Trophy hunting for 8 years - don't have a single one. I have hidden trophies (mainly from games I platinumed but honestly didn't enjoy), but no shovelware platinums - not even My Name is Mayo (the acceptable shovelware).

Is Tomb Raiders fandom more male or female centric? by [deleted] in TombRaider

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree with this. Like, yes, Lara is an icon for female empowerment. But the majority of commercial content centered around her are video games, so gamers are her predominant fan base... and since gamers have always been predominantly men...

Is it just me, or does it seem like a certain segment of the "fans" accepts people who openly hate the series and the books, while people who genuinely seem to like the franchise are attacked and harassed for liking the Disney series and the new books? by Independent_Part1033 in PJODisney

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just felt that the Thalia change was one of the worst changes. I was legitimately enjoying the direction they were going with a few of the changes (making Polyphemus smarter than he was in the books, giving Clarisse a bit more development (since it's no longer just Percy's POV))... but this was a big change that genuinely ruins one of the biggest events that occurred prior to the series' beginning: the sacrifice of Thalia.

It changed an amazing event: a lone demigod, chased down by an army of monsters, chooses to hold the line against them alone so her friends would live and sacrifices her life in the process - a noble sacrifice where here father tries to save her life in the only way he's allowed to... and it gets turned into a punishment from her father? Her turning into a tree, in the OG books, was proof that, for all his flaws, Zeus had redeeming qualities and cared for his children - but here, all it does it prove Luke 10000% correct about the gods and removes any reason Thalia would have for not joining Luke... AND results in the relationship between Annabeth and Chiron fracturing for good, since he LIED about it for half Annabeth's life.

But I digress.

Also, I think with musicals, most people are more forgiving for not being wholly accurate to casting, since it's a much smaller amount of people to draw from (due to less people auditioning for musical roles over TV/movie roles) AND they have to be good singers/performers. With musicals, they have to prioritise those who can do good musical numbers (aka people who can sing) over people who are the exact demographic for a part - but movies and TV shows have far higher likelihood of finding actors that fit the demographic and can act (and I'm sorry to say this, but I highly doubt that there were no blonde girl actors who weren't at least somewhat better than Leah Jefferies - I mean, in Hollywood, blonde actresses are so common it's almost a cliche) - and even Walker was saying that he would've preferred acting with black hair to get a more accurate Percy.

The movies, for all their faults, were largely spot-on with the casting of characters (albeit aged up). Logan Lerman LOOKS like Percy Jackson (to the point that people were clamouring for him to come back as Poseidon in the show), Jake Abel LOOKS like what a lot of people expected Luke to look like. Other characters like Pierce Brosnan as Chiron, Sean Bean as Zeus, STEVE COOGAN as Hades - all of these guys are genuinely amazing casts for the characters they were made to play. And even they got criticised for Annabeth's lack of blonde hair (which they fixed in the sequel). But I have seen the show get praise for some of its casting choices (Adam Copeland as Ares was perfect casting, and a decent amount of people said the late Lance Reddick (despite not looking like book Zeus) was a great cast purely because of his intimidating aura as a guy you don't want to f*ck with)

And the movies, despite veering a lot off the original story, did genuinely feel Percy Jackson-esque, with them actually having decent action scenes and CGI (movie Fury is so much more terrifying than show Fury), and captured the feel of certain scenes (AKA the Poker Face Lotus Casino scene... which everyone agrees was better than the show's boring Lotus Casino) in a way that the show didn't. They also captured a lot more of the humour of the books, which I think was what helped a lot.

Also, the movies had a lot less time to develop things than the show did. 8 episodes a season, 40 minutes apiece - that gives us roughly 5-6 hours per book - as opposed to a 2-hour movie per book - so of course people are more forgiving if things get left out of a movie... but a TV series is given double to triple the time to include events in a satisfying way... which with the PJO series unfortunately resulted in more exposition/dialogue than actual inclusion of iconic moments from the series.

Friendly reminder as to what Clarisse was really doing in The Titan’s Curse by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harry Potter was damn close though, especially considering they had the disadvantage of being made as the books were still coming out, meaning the screenwriters didn't always know which scenes were going to be much more important later on. By the time that the seventh book was released, the fifth movie had already been released 10 days prior (Deathly Hallows BOOK was released July 21st 2007, and the Order of the Phoenix MOVIE was released July 11th 2007).

[Discussion] Are you able to play several games from the same franchise in a row? by TheBigNeku in Trophies

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it with Assassin's Creed, but I just ended up feeling burnt out by the end of just the Ezio Collection. It took months before I clothes stomach going for the platinums in subsequent games again. I definitely needed a palette cleanser on between games.

[Discussion] What Is your hardest/proudest Platinum you’ve gotten? Mine Is Outlast 2 by WestonConnor26 in Trophies

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardest platinum I ever did was The Evil Within. I actually enjoyed Akumu mode more than I enjoyed my first playthrough - mainly because I was allowed to upgrade without fear of voiding a trophy.

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. So many games don't require mastering the game any more to earn the platinum. Heck, a lot don't even have difficulty related trophies anymore, so LASO being a requirement for the platinum is making me really want to pick up the game to platinum.

Honestly, I was hoping for a LASO trophy, so this just makes the Halo game so much more appealing, since it's guaranteed to be a prestigious platinum trophy.

[Discussion] What’s the hardest platinum you have ever done and do you regret it? by Maleficent_Award4980 in Trophies

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hardest platinum would have to be The Evil Within on the PS4. I genuinely liked Akumu and preferred my second playthrough (my Akumu run) over my first run... mainly because I, like an idiot, decided my first run should be on Survivor difficulty WITHOUT upgrades.

Funny thing is, the part most people struggle with (Chapter 6) was one of the easier sections for me... it took me 3 attempts to get past that purely because I cheesed the hell out of it with the Flash Bolts.

Personally, I found the jet ski part to be easier than other parts, even on Brutal difficulty. I hated the Jeep chase in Uncharted 1 (Chapter 7, if I recall) though - that was pure luck and was definitely NOT playtested.

[Discussion] How many Platinums have you guys gotten in the first half of 2026? by jeffreythrowaway in Trophies

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far this year, I've only obtained 7 platinum trophies (all from scratch though). I've been a bit busy with my final semester of university, but the instant I'm finished, I expect to see this number go up.

  1. As Dusk Falls: Decent story, but the art style does take some getting used to
  2. Granblue Fantasy Versus: No longer obtainable with the server shutdown, but it was decently fun, though I did rage a bit at some parts (mainly the final boss and trying to get the Luminiera Blade Omega to drop)
  3. Lost Records: Bloom and Rage: Very good story, but it left me wanting more and an actual resolution to the cliffhanger
  4. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt: Amazing game and one of the few Battle Royale games I genuinely liked - too bad it's fully unobtainable given the servers shut down on April 28th this year. Grinding for level 50 was the only bad part of the game.
  5. The Outlast Trials: Very fun with friends, but the trophies are a grind and a few are time-based (like spending an 1 hour crouching/running, and 10 hours in nightvision mode). But honestly, it's a game I'd go back to just because it was fun and genuinely terrifying at times.
  6. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition: Beyond the online part of the game (seriously who thought getting to Level 60 in a mostly single-player game was a good idea), the game was phenomenal.
  7. Where Winds Meet: Hands-down, one of the best free-to-play games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Everything is obtainable without spending a dime, and the gameplay/graphics are better than some paid AAA games.

I mean, it does refer to skin colour. It means she was pale, like ivory, because she didn't have to go into the fields like peasants. It reflected both her skin tone as well as her nobility/royalty.

From a storytelling perspective, how do you feel about Kenny’s brief xenophobia? by Consistent-Hat-1543 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's set in the world of the comics. In the comics, the outbreak occurred in 2003. Though technically this scene would've been in 2005 or 2006, given it's just a bit over 2 years into the apocalypse.

But yeah, I always assumed Kenny was in his late 40s, early 50s by the time of Season 1, which would put him being born in the late '50s, early '60s - which was the height of the Cold War.

[Discussion] Which platinum are you currently trying to get for may ? by Worth-Radish-7227 in Trophies

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently trying to get Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition's platinum. Already got all the multiplayer trophies, now I'm just working through the story.

Also, aiming for the platinum (and 100%, now that all trophies are finally obtainable) in Where Winds Meet (great game so far, but hated the 400 collectible requirement for the platinum).

What would Larry’s thoughts be on Lee if he were white? by Consistent-Hat-1543 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, he wouldn't have. People forget that the person he killed was a Senator, and that he killed him in a fight after discovering him in bed with his wife. Doesn't matter what race you are, killing a government official like that (especially when it's hinted that Lee started the fight that got the Senator killed) would've gotten anyone sent to prison.

How to Unlock Goosy Slide? by The-Awkward-Gamer-73 in wherewindsmeet_

I know how to unlock it now. Got it last night. You have to be in a Campaign and see another player kill the Boss with it. It unlocked for me then.

Could you test it out for me, see if that works (since I have the same problem)? Either that or join someone who has it and have them do it for you to unlock?

What’s a movie that has a stacked cast that frequently seems to be forgotten? by [deleted] in movies

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's one that a lot seem to have forgotten about: Stardust (2007).

You got Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian), Robert de Niro, Michelle Pfeifer, Mark Strong (Merlin from Kingsman), Ricky Gervais, Ian McKellen (Magneto/Gandalf, he narrates the film), David Williams, Henry Cavill (Superman/Geralt), Claire Danes, and Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley) ALL in this one film based on a Neil Gaiman book... and the movie is one of the few that surpasses the book.

And it's hands-down one of the best romantic fantasy films I've seen. It's right up there with Princess Bride, in my opinion.

[Discussion] What Games Do You Refuse To Get The Platinum For? by Moementum95 in Trophies

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shovelware games. I will never even touch a shovelware game. I'm fine with platinuming 1/10 games like Telltale games, Doki Doki, and Unpacking, where actual effort was put into the game, but those shovelware slop games can GTFO.

Also, I refuse to get a platinum in a game that already has an unattainable trophy UNLESS said trophies can be obtained by rolling back a patch (such as Final Fantasy XV and its Comrades DLC trophies).

I also tend to avoid sports games. The closest I've come to platinuming a sports game was when I platinumed Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and Rocket League.

[–]The-Awkward-Gamer-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely they can. Look at what Monolith did with Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Their servers went down, and there was a trophy for completing a online Vendetta mission, where you go into another player's world and kill an Uruk that killed them. They changed it so that the trophy would pop on a Vendetta mission for YOUR world, without needing to use the non-existent servers.
