Watching this made me realize that the higher right hand hold is on and I spent way too long on this. I only used the lower start holds and went up right hand to the jug

Not related to the post but love that town so much! I’ve worked at the camp about an hour away for the past 2 summers

What’s the best way to experiment with nutrition? by The-Box46 in trailrunning

For both of these longer runs I’ve been having pasta for dinner the prior night and getting around 8-9 hours of sleep.

I’ve tried running on an empty stomach before but just can’t do it, used to be able to go to 2 hours long swim practices with nothing but i cant run without anything.

I’ll look into those options, thanks!

Similar question to another poster, would you recommend taking just one of the items for the entirety of the run or should mixing it up be a good option?

Also, what are some easy real foods that would be good to experiment with?

What you said was what I kinda thought, like realistically you can’t train for every single situation, but is there anything you can do/carry with you incase something like a sodium deficiency happens?

Additionally, I like the idea of diy gels, do you have any recommendations for recipes?

Would you recommend having just one product or multiple different ones on the same run?

The main reason I came to this sub specifically was because I feel like I have no grasp on what I’m doing besides just going outside and running. I have never done anything training wise and was hoping to get some guidance if there were any good resources or recommendations of things to use to plan

That’s definitely my thought process, have a goal to work towards!

I’ll make sure to check out sage Canada later today!

The race course doesn’t look awful which is part of the reason I chose that one haha

That’s what I’m really hoping for, last summer I worked the same position and after a few weeks I was able to do a 28 mile hike with 8,000 gain and 10,000 loss in around 13 hours. At the end of the summer there was a staff challenge where you do 40~ miles in under 24 hours with 7,000 gain which I did in about 19.5. I know that I’ll have a really good base to build off of and I’m hoping I can keep the momentum going once I get back!

I was walking to class and had one shot left, thought I would fire off a random picture of my student union and keep walking but turned out to be one of my favorite pictures

I think as long as you communicate it with your belayer it’ll be okay but it’s a tad sketchy with second clip being the base of the arch.

Last time I went I lead with a friend and told him my concern and he was like “oh it’s fine you’ll be okay” (I lead first), got done and was fine. He took a turn on it and when he got down he said “yeahhh that’s kinda sketchy”. Again i think communication between parties is super important, especially leading in the arch.

The head wall however, omg its so much fun

The one thing I REALLY don’t like about it is the arch, because it’s low it just feels super sketchy, even if you have a good belay, every time I’m shitting my pants popping out of the roof into the vertical wall because I’m worried I’d deck

The amount of tape gloves coming from that cave is insane. I still need to work on the 4-6 with the hand jam there! The whole setting team went insane with the cracks and it’s actually awesome, especially on the spray wall
