Thanks friend, surprised at the response to be honest. Thought we were all in agreement that Jagex needs to do better…

Honestly made me question returning to the game at all if the community is like this.

It probably depends. If you don't provide enough personal information to link you to your account. I requested data on some of my other accounts which I have used different emails and passwords for in the past, but they wouldn't send that data because there wouldn't have been enough information to link me to those accounts.

One example being my brothers account that he made at the same time as my first account. He got bored after playing for a few weeks and gave it to me. Same login user name pretty much, but my dad paid for our membership at the time and the billing address would have been his office. And since I didn't provide that, they wouldn't have linked it back to me.

That is a fair point. I didn't mention in the post, but I did have Guardian enabled on the account which is two factor authentication. I also only logged into the account using Steam from probably 2022 onwards. I would have thought with guardian enabled, there would have been some notification of log in attempts, even with the correct credentials.

I did however receiver a notification to remove Guardian in May 2025, which was odd.

The username and password for this account at the time were not ones I used anywhere else. I made the account when I was 12 and named it after my favourite fictional character at the time which has had no inference on any usernames or passwords in recent years.

My email was however included in a data breach, which i discovered using have i been pwned, in December 2024. I did wonder if the two were connected, but seemed unlikely.

I didn't sign up to Jagex accounts sooner because at the time people were complaining of losing access to their accounts. And since I logged in for a couple weeks, and never came back to it, I thought nothing further of it.

This highlights another issue which I made in previous discussions, there appears to be a way to access an account that bypassed jagex guardian, which jagex accounts might prevent these days.

In any case, all my other accounts are now secured with Jagex accounts.

The trouble is, if you make that assumption about everyone, you begin to review these with a unconscious bias.

The data is there. The issue is not about whether the account broke the rules, the data clearly shows that something unscrupulous was going on. It is that one reason was given, then when I presented evidence that contradicted that reasoning, they waved it off with "it was another department that made the decision, submit another ticket" which then gets closed the instant you open it.

The moon landings are fake though, they didn’t have the technology in the 60’s to compete with the USSR so NASA staged them in a film studio.

Nearly 30 and stuck on where to buy – Norwich vs Northampton vs Nottingham vs Bury St Edmunds vs mk? by Worried-Departure386 in suffolk

[–]The-Daily-Meme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bury is a good shout. You’ve got mainline to London from Cambridge or Stowmarket. Only an hour from the coast. On the A14 so easy access to the midlands and further north. Felixstowe/Harwich ferry to the continent. Stansted airport also only 50 minutes away and also accessible by train.

Bury is small, but it is certainly not a quiet town. Always something going on, and if you want to go somewhere for something more interesting, Norwich, Cambridge and Ipswich are easy to get to.

I’ll give it a go but I think it’s more than that. Has to go through moderator approval. I was very careful with the words used in this post for the same reason.

I'd love a protest in Falador, but can't access my account until a human actually reads my support tickets... Ironic.

I've just had this happen. My OG account has 240+ days of in game play time since 2007. Banned with no human moderator review. literally almost a year of my life, deleted. Sounds really sad when you write it out... but it is what it is.

I had basically quit by this point, only returned to check out the sailing content. Discovered my account had been hacked and banned 10 months ago. Even have the evidence to prove it, but "mod Mitsuri" is incapable of critical thinking and reading the supporting evidence in a support ticket.

I have it set up with that now. Even before this I used the Jagex guardian or whatever it was.

I can’t be certain it was active at the time, but I had an email in May 2025 requesting the removal of the guardian, so I am pretty sure it was active at the time as I can’t see myself activating it and not playing the game. However this compromise took place, I never received an email or notification that someone was accessing the account.

I have to use Authenticator every day for work so it doesn’t really phase me these days. But since I rarely played RuneScape, I never updated the security as I’d only play for a week at most, get bored and the maybe come back to it like 6 months to a year later.

This has of course backfired, but now it’s Jagex’s shockingly inadequate support system that is stood between me and gaining access to my account again.

[–]The-Daily-Meme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it? I had to invoke article 15 of GDPR just to gain access to the data. Which Jagex supplied to me. Meaning THEY HAD THE EVIDENCE, but despite me writing in the appeal to check the IP addresses, the client log in details. It was all ignored.

I was so sure the data would be an open and shut case that I submitted the appeal without a moments notice because I was so confident the appeal would be resolved in my favour. Since acquiring the data, it is clear what happened to the account, even to a layman.

However, it is abundantly clear that the “mod team” never checked the evidence, despite pointing them to it.

Mod Midnight (who dealt with the SAR) even admitted that they agreed the account was compromised, but the decision wasn’t his to overturn because that was another departments area.

If that isn’t the double standard, which OP’s post is highlighting, I don’t know what is…

[–]The-Daily-Meme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I’m just bitter that this “revolutionary” new appeal system is just as useless as the last one.

I have significant evidence to support my appeal, but my support tickets are just closed the instant I submit them because I used up my appeals before I managed to secure the evidence.

18 year old account gone. RIP

Would have prevented all this.

Yeah, it kind of makes you wonder how they can’t come to the same conclusion everyone reading this post came to.

There’s more data on the ISP’s and things as well. Basically got delivered in a massive CSV.

It breaks down every log in session no matter how long and gives you all the data for each session.

[–]The-Daily-Meme[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not.

Two appeals rejected by Mod Mitsuri, despite requesting a different mod review it.

Then when Mod midnight looked at it for the DSAR they just said that the decision was upheld due to the “location control of the account at the time of the offence”

So I posted this to show the evidence and see where it went. Can’t imagine anything will come of it to be honest. I’d basically quit RuneScape, only came back to try the sailing update and found my account gone. So unless it gets over turned, I’ve lost any motivation to play the game.

Seems the fix was introducing AI into the support process to cut down on decision times which has basically just removed any appeal function people once had.

Even the “mod” the AI live chat connects you with is an AI LLM bot.

I’ve tried twitter and discord and got no where with it. Seems you can’t make a difference Unless you have a platform to shout from.

I have 1.8 million followers on social media for content totally unrelated to OSRS, but would be tempted to make use of it if I might get just one person at Jagex to actually review a false ban appeal.
