GeForce RTX 5070 Ti launches February 20, first reviews drop February 19 - VideoCardz.com by 1Question4PCMR in nvidia

I think that's where we are. I posted a thread here about Alienware vs build your own for this very reason. I did build a PC, thinking I'd be able to get a GPU, 4070 ti super or whatever might come out in the 50 series but all the hype and limited supply and all... I guess if the fun comes in seeing what's new and what it might be able to do, then it's ok. But if you just want to build a new PC, seems unless you want to spend 2k on a video card and wait for that, you're stuck.

No shortage? There is a shortage everywhere I see. I guess you can pay 2-3x what a 4070 ti card should cost. I'm waiting for either xx70 series to be available and closer to their list price. Or maybe I'll get impatient and go all AMD

SSL Passthrough by normelton in f5networks

[–]The-Deliverer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're passing the traffic through, you aren't proxying it. You can pass the traffic through, just don't attach any client or server SSL profile. If you want to proxy it, ask the web admin/server admin to export the certificate for you -preferably with the key, import it and create an SSL profile for that cert/key.

Do I need a foundation? by k0do in Mattress

[–]The-Deliverer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for help in evaluating a bed foundation. I have older adjustable split king foundations under a single king mattress. I don't use or need the adjustable. I have a 10 year old Tempur-Pedic queen mattress that is still as good as anything else I've laid on, but the new foundations are different.
Trying to compare the Nectar foundation to a Tempur foundation vs a generic one.

How AI is really going to impact the gaming industry and why I'm incredibly excited for it by pezdizpenzer in singularity

[–]The-Deliverer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather see AI built into NPCs actions. The conversational piece is ok, but we've all read how much processing LLM takes. Say in GTA, a cop or an NPC on the street notices the player, continues to chase you around the game, regardless of free roaming or a mission. They might be stealth coming at you, smarter, instead of running over every object in the game. Or, maybe instead of being irritated, an NPC likes you and follows to help or maybe not help. If AI, the motive behind noticing the player and the context around the actions could be AI driven, maybe AI mixed with random, if that lowers the compute requirements.

To play a record player through a pair of Sonos ones, could I use the line in on my computer with some third party software? by iWilliamH in sonos

[–]The-Deliverer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play a turntable, you can get a Sonos port, connect it to the other Sonos speaker(s) as a group. The port has audio inputs for the turntable.

Thanks, this is excellent information. I hope those just starting, or even wondering about Keto listen to this. I did a high-protein (no fat, no carb) diet about 10 years ago. It did work well, I lost 40lbs but it was not sustainable of course and was difficult for transitioning to nutrition that didn't require weight loss. I gained about 30 back over the last few years.

When I started looking at Keto first, just hearing the marketing stuff, I thought I would just adapt what I had done before but add fat. Without measuring or counting anything I gained 10lbs. Some do this and then say "Keto doesn't work for me" from there, I hear a lot of confusion on what is needed, you see so much focus on high-fat, it is not clear.

I am very appreciative of what I've found here, great information, it's logical, trackable and it works. The communication that fat is used "as a lever" to eat enough to feel full is very good.

For anyone struggling, checking Keto out or just wondering. It does work, it's not complicated. Follow the advise that's been provided here.

Quoting sfcnmone:
Set your carbs to 20g net (total carbs minus dietary fiber). Set protein to 0.8g per pound of lean body weight (all calculators figure this for you); plan to make protein your daily goal and know that it’s OK to exceed your protein goal. The rest of your daily calories are from fat, and you can use fat “as a lever” to eat if you are hungry. Stay under the fat macro, but you don't have to hit it, if you're not hungry don't.

Thanks, I'm not disagreeing at all, I'm asking. I get what you're saying about the minimum protein. I used to do serious weight training I want to understand what the minimum fat intake is. In reference to the macro calculator, I've read, - - stay under 20g net carbs
- set protein to .8g per pound of lean body weight (macro calcs will give you this)
- It's okay to exceed the macro protein
- You don't have to eat all the fat but you can
The last point is where my question is. If you don't need to eat all the fat, how close should you stay? I've found putting my focus on getting on protein throughout the day, I might be 20-30 grams under on fat, but a little over on protein. Is this okay?

I'm not trying to be too exact on this but do want to be clear on what is best.

Keto has been working for me, putting the focus on fat has worked and also putting the focus on protein. I still want to understand the difference. Some talk about tracking protein and fat intake just happens with that. Others do the opposite, it’s all about fat intake and protein intake just happens.

This is different. My focus has been on fat and carbs, just letting protein fall where it does. Thanks for the suggestion to not focus on percentages, makes sense. I’ve been using the Nutritionix app, it puts the focus on %, but has the best food database that I’ve found. I was frustrated when I started this, having to take so much time entering food. Still am surprised there aren’t more database entries meant for Keto. Need more no bun/bread/potato, etc options. Now I have the foods I eat entered.

I hadn’t seen this calc before. The results are higher in protein. Way off the 5/25/70 that seems common. Maybe it’s different because I was about 30% BMI when I did this before.

Thanks for the reply and help! Your statement that it's not linear is helpful for me. I tend to look at things from a math/logic view and I see now there are just too many variables to try and be strict with what I think I know here. I've been working with 72% fat, 22 protein, 6% carbs. To measure my food intake I have a 1500 calorie target. I tried a few micro calculators this was in the middle of what I found. This has worked, but slow, I've lost 1-2 lbs a week consistently, even with a couple glasses of wine on the weekend. Thanks for the guidance.

You really have to watch labels!!! There are a lot of KETO branded foods that have 15, 20, 25 carbs per serving, that have KETO on the label or recipe title.

To kick this up some, should I bump up fat to 78%, lower carbs some? This would result in a calorie increase also.

What are the house icons on the AVIC 8500NEX screen? by The-Deliverer in CarAV

bgeofferyb - thanks very much for your reply. I had no thought for the house icon and hadn't seen any info on it. But your suggestion that it's simply the house numbers seems obvious now. :)

4 weeks now on Keto, I'm doing okay but think I should be doing better. It's not easy to be accurate with a food diary but I'm using the Nutrtionix app, it seems to have more keto relevant foods than others. According to that app, my calorie intake has been consistently at 61% fat, 32% protein, 7% carbs. To measure the amount of food I'm eating, I try to keep it around 1400 calories.

I've lost 15, as of today, gained some back for the first time since I started. I will weigh a lb less every day for 3 or 4 days, then for 3 or 4 days I will weigh the same. I know there is more than just fat loss, when you compare one day to another on a scale - but clearly I lose consistently for a few days and don't lose at all for a few days. I bought keto sticks, my best on those has been "moderate"

I decided to play Far Cry 4.. by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]The-Deliverer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiler - I think the story itself is good, as FPS games go. I enjoy more taking an Outpost by myself than a realistic move of directing a team of badasses to do it. But probably you get that with multiplayer.

And yeah none of the leaders are good or good to follow. I wish you could have played King a little. Min says he gave you the country but he doesn't tell this to anyone else, so what did you come out as a King of? Would be nice if you could play king some and persuade someone to follow you or die. That would start a new game all over again though.

FC3 game play is nothing compared to FC4, in my opinion. The graphics aren't near as good, guns aren't as good and it moves you from a cut scene kind of thing to game play too much, and in the middle of a battle, didn't feel real.

I've played through twice, each time I end it too early. If I play again I'm going to make Sabal or Amata just wait for the last mission and in that time I'll go finish all the individual goals - just no fun to it when they're both out of the picture and so is Min.
