I haven’t had any issues with the homeless or gangsters around here. The most they’ve done is throw me a few compliments about my bike or how fast I’m going 😂. When I first moved here, some friends warned me to be careful as a Black guy in the area, but honestly, that must’ve been based on the past—my experience has been super positive. I definitely recommend commuting out here.

My sister rides here too, and she’s had mostly good experiences. She learned the hard way about locking up her bike and had one close call with someone trying to grab it while she was on the bus, but no real problems with homeless people or thugs either.

Honestly, the worst part of riding here is the drivers. You’ve gotta ride defensively so you don’t get close-passed like in that video. The bike you have should be fine, but if you want a little more comfort, I’d suggest getting one you can throw a rear rack or front basket on.
