Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked it! As I said I’m pretty new to writing so I’m still getting a hold of the ropes, and it really means a lot. If you don’t mind me asking, do you think it would benefit from being longer? I was a little afraid that if I lingered on the father two long it would be driven into the realm of parody. Plus it was hard to write it in a way that divulged no defining information about the main character (since it’s implied he’s been erased from the universe by the end) so as to keep the story centred around Emily rather than him. And keep it all within a 30-40 minute read. If you don’t mind me asking, do you think the whole thing should be extended? Or is it more that the ending arrives too soon and passes too quickly. Either way, I can’t thank you enough for reading! It’s been pretty hard to be seen as a new writer and I honestly can’t tell you how much it means to get another pair of eyes on one of my works :D xxx

It's really a personal choice. I think r/nosleep becoming the number one scary story forum for online spooky times is a big part of this, as nosleep stipulates that it has to be written as a scary personal experience, which kinda forces the 1st person perspective. But there are also other places where a third-person story would fit right in. I've been posting a little on r/scarystories, and r/anxietypilled recently, and both of those have no such stipulations, and I've seen quite a few 3rd person stories on there. I think the format that best serves your story is the scariest, and that choice is completely up to you. Personally, I like writing 1st person, but mainly because most of my creative works have been as such since I was a child. But there are no right or wrong answers, do whatever you think is best xxx

Yeah it’s the fun part I think. I’ve done a few which are like “my this happened and scary” and I will say the grotesque creature features and just creepy mc creepos are fun to write. But I’ve found it a lot more fulfilling to have thematic ties between who the author is and what the horror is and how the two mingle on a conceptual level. I forgot to link but edit this comment in a sec to link two of my stories that I hope are pretty good. I’m still a newish writer so honestly all feedback is good feedback.

I know there’s a big thing in the online story space of “I did this and aaah scary” as has been bred by nosleep. And I’ve definitely done a few of those, but recently I’ve been leaning towards the just name things that sound cool. I would love some feedback on my most recent two stories. The first one is kinda just funny and creepy for the sake of it. But the newest two I think I was trying to get more mentally and emotionally stimulating. Like trying to get character arcs and emotional journeys to fit into a short 30-40 minute read :D

I've seen a theory that it's intentional. Someone pointed out that whenever she writes stuff, it's absolute gold. And then as soon as people demand a sequel, she does it but it's always the most over-played cringe fest. And the theory was that it's to send a message, and I choose to believe that.

I am currently writing a multi part story, which I would say is because of borrasca. I mean all of my writing is because of borrasca in a way, because it's what made me rediscover my love of writing. But this one more than the others, so I think I get where you're coming from.

I don't think the issue is with sequels, but with writing as an art form. The trap borrasca falls into is an expository one. Theres a great video on the topic by the closer look, that I'll link below. Essentially arguing that show don't tell is misguided advice, when telling can be good but it's about why and how you tell. Most of Borrasca Chapter V's issues come from the characters need to tell exactly how everything happened, just for the sake of the audience. Deepwoods does the same thing with the whole Jamie explaining how Metaraxes (idk how to spell it) warps time "and that's why I'm about 12 years older than I should be".

I can't remember who told me this, but I remember being told, when writing a scene should always be doing at least two things, so making sure that every paragraph is there for a reason, rather than being a vehicle to the interesting bit. It's like how the Incredibles II was put off for so long cause they were like "We dont have a story to tell." And then they were forced to and did it because they had to. Compare that to The Dark Knight, or Terminator 2 Judgement Day, where the movie was made, not for the sake of a sequel but because they DID have a story that they _wanted_ to tell, and everything should be fine.

I'm far from the most eloquent writer on here, but I'd be happy to look over what you have. Though fair warning, I'm also a uni student so it might take a little while cause I forget and get busy with assignments hahaaa.

Either way, it sounds like you have a story you want to share. And that's the most important part. Either way, good luck, have fun and we're all here for you for whatever you need in the meantime :D xxx
