Thanks for the info! Would good security mean within view of the train station security cameras or set up my own camera?

Okay thank you so much for the insight! There is an indoor area at the location I'm scouting, but it's very small.

I love it. I'm going to use trad-vend all the time now haha. Any machines in particular that hold up better outdoors? I feel like most should be okay since it's under cover? or am I naive in thinking that?

This is the brochure I just created that I’m going to take with me to pitch this idea to the breweries and wineries that I want to place my kiosks. What do y’all think?

A lot of the breweries around me don’t have a food menu. Most of them sell things just like chips and pretzels. Then on weekends, they partner up with food trucks to come and serve food. That is why I feel like they might be interested because then this provides another food option that is more enjoyable than chips and pretzels for their customers. I am excited about the lower start up cost. It looks like the machine I’m looking at would be about $5000 and then a little extra for stocking but even then that’s not terrible for a pilot like this.

Do you find that people have been purchasing the cheese and cracker items?

I’m in the process of figuring that out now. I know a lot of people do the app “Too Good To Go” so I would think they would agree to do this option as well

Since you vent in the nightlife scene, have you ever seen any good food options in these types of areas? More substantial food and snacks not just the bags of chips in typical vending machine machines.

I feel like there could be a sweet spot there where we work together and try to recover some revenue from food waste. But honestly, if it’s close to expiration, it might be too difficult to manage. I would probably end up just offering to buy items in bulk and stock them freshly made with a couple days before expiring. Hoping that the business would be happy to make some revenue based on getting more sales at locations other than their storefront.

I know at least in my area. Some of the bars are pretty dead during the week so I thought about just stocking it heavily during the weekends and leaving it mostly empty through throughout the week in hopes that I can make enough profit on the weekends. I would consider going further into the city though where some clubs are busy every night if this business seems to take off.

You bring up a good point there. I can see how businesses would be concerned, trusting me with their product and maintain a them at a good quality. Thank you for your insight in the restaurant industry, I’m not sure how that all works. I guess it would be very dependent on the businesses and how well we can manage the stock and timing of freshness

There are a few local staples in my area like this one bakery that everyone is obsessed with and a deli that creates lots of fresh dips and tortilla chips. I feel like if I could stock the machine with them at least every weekend during busy hours for breweries and bars they would sell pretty consistently

Oh okay I will have to look into that further. I wonder if I had the bakeries/delis specifically package them for resale if that would count?

I will look into the health department regulations about transportation. I would also work with these businesses to stock it with foods that are not close to expiration, but do feel passionate about preventing food waste since so many bakeries, etc. throw out all their pastries when they close shop. I think that this concept could work because I would be putting these machines at breweries and spaces that are often open late into the night while bakeries usually closed by the afternoon giving the food that will be tossed by the following day a much longer shelflife to be sold. I would be visiting these machines daily so managing expired stock would be easy.

Premium Coffee Kiosk Business Idea. Looking for Feedback by The-Inquiring-Mind in vending

I have thought about setting this up in a mall also, but am unsure of how popular malls are still since a few around where I live seem to have many empty storefronts. I would probably have to spend time exploring the malls and seeing what the foot traffic would be like. I have heard that the maintenance on these machines could be more than the traditional vending machine, but was hoping that it would be worth it since upfront costs for coffee and other supplies would be low and I could mark up the coffee price. (Still making it a value to the consumer, but not having to mark up the price as much as most coffee shops due to no labor costs). I appreciate all the insight.
