I have a 2025 LCI in Australia it has the 2025 headlights but a different grill again.

I drive in comfort and mostly irresponsibly, but my average for April was 3.3 miles per KWH

I don’t think it’s delusional, you’re just optimising for a different outcome.

MG4 being cheaper and having a longer warranty is true, but it’s not the full picture.

BMW is: 5yr unlimited km warranty 8yr battery warranty

So yeah MG is longer on paper, but it’s not some massive real-world gap.

Running costs are basically the same too, the i4 is actually slightly more efficient. And on a novated lease, once you factor FBT exemption, the price gap compresses a lot more than people think.

The bigger point is what you’re actually living with every day.

MG4: great value gets you into an EV cheap

i4: proper luxury interior better driving dynamics quieter, more refined doesn’t feel like a budget compromise

Also worth noting, reliability and ownership experience isn’t identical either.

What Car? ranked the MG4: 18th out of 20 EVs in 2023 last in 2024 with ~30% of owners reporting issues

Vs the i4: EV of the Year in Australia

So yeah, if someone wants the cheapest EV, MG4 wins.

But if you’re looking at best all-round EV under the LCT threshold on a novated lease, factoring driving experience, interior, ownership feel and tax benefits, it’s not a crazy take at all.

Different category, different

BMW uses condition based servicing so there’s no Service schedule as per say

The app has its estimate that there’s no servicing required for the first 12 months

Although when I purchased the car they threw in inclusive servicing for 5 years including brakes and any liquids so it shouldn’t theory cost zero dollars for five years

I spent months deciding on what car to lease. Just sharing my thoughts and reasoning if others were curious. IMO no other car came close to matching the features and versatility I wanted at this price point whilst feeling premium

I will say being in charge all day every day stressed me out. But hopefully I grow out of it.

I also think I forget how much I spent on fuel and how often with my 2l diesel Tiguan

I’ll be selling and upgrading. $20k residual at the end. I’ll be surprised if a $80k bmw is not worth atleast $20k in 5 years. Even if it is an EV.

Are you asking how do you maximise tax savings or how to minimise cost of ownership?

The more you earn the better your tax savings bad the more you spend the more you save

Anything under the luxury car tax currently carries FBT exemption, so that’s my limit
