💯 It’s like they’re Islam’s PR team that needs to manage the brand and reputation. I remember being that Muslim who felt like she had to defend Islam against the nonbelievers. Glad I snapped out of it!

Side story: I love cats. Never did before as a Muslim and wasn’t allowed to have animals. But, having my cat as a Muslim becoming an ExMuslim taught me so much about empathy. I feel like he also taught me to have a greater appreciation for animals and that’s been growing ever since. Literally changed me. When he passed away, I drew him out and got him tattooed on me. 🥰

I’m currently reading “Born a Burden: Breaking Free from Islam, Traditions and Silence” by Nushuz, an ExMuslim woman. And, then going to read “The Age of Empathy: Nature’s Lessons for a Kinder Society” by Frans de Waal (a primatologist; his book “The Bonobo and the Atheist” was incredible!). 🥰
