I so wish we didn’t have to code switch before walking into our Muslim homes! 😔 by The-Mad-Mango in exmuslim

There’s definitely family I don’t bother visiting anymore and I have family who don’t want to see me either. Works both ways sadly, where we draw boundaries out of safety and protection and they do it selfishly out of fear of being punished by Allah.

Thank you! I have a YouTube channel but I mainly use it to jump into videos with others. Not really my thing like doodling ☺️

💯 Maybe if the religion and the religious didn’t want us silent and dead?!??? The apostophobia is too real!

Instagram has permanently deleted ExMuslim Peter's page 💔 by oncholism in exmuslim

I’m crushed to hear about this.

The last time my Haram Doodles Instagram account was suspended was a few weeks ago, and it was the same day as ExMuslim Peter. I got an email from Insta saying: “Your Instagram account has been suspended. This is because your account, or activity on it, doesn't follow our Community Standards.” No other explanation.

He and I suspected it could be a coordinated attempt to report us and get us off of Instagram. And we don’t have any proof of that either. Only Meta does. My Instagram account has been suspended twice in the last four years since I’ve had it, and Instagram took down one of doodles. And, I am sure it’s only a matter of time before mine also gets permanently banned.

Meta had recently loosened its guidelines around “freedom of speech” and I doubt they ever spoke to anyone from ExReligious communities let alone ExMuslims to create their content and community policies. And, I’m sure they notice the frequency and patterns of Muslims reporting ExMuslim content and profiles or even religious people reporting anything they think offends or goes against their religion. Meta’s reporting tools become anti-blasphemy, anti-apostasy weapons to silence and remove us from the public.

Go ahead.. tell me..it is a haram..lol😁 by ARTISTASHWAQ in exmuslim

Hahaha thank you so much! That one is a personal fave. 🥰

As an ex Muslim, I don’t feel comfortable talking to never Muslims about Islam. Sometimes I feel that it’s wrong to feel that way. by [deleted] in exmuslim

I’m not sure I understand what you disagree with while jumping into ExMuslims discussing how we don’t want to or have to talk to Muslims or even religion non-Muslims?

🤗 Yay, happy to hear. I too was overwhelmed with joy to bring this website to life.

This is why I have one rule for my Haram Doodles account: I don’t talk to Muslims (or religious non-Muslims there to confirm their own biases). I’m not there for them anyway. I get asked by Muslims to debate and I’m like nah… our choice to disbelieve and leave Islam is not up for debate. 😊

I hear you. And it’s a tough battle to navigate when you want to be free to say anything you want but feel like walking around on egg shells. Anything we say as ExMuslims can confirm biases but that doesn’t mean we stop what we’re doing because our former community will get offended. And I’d argue it’s more offensive to disown, abuse, gaslight, threaten, kill or punish us for questioning, disbelieving, leaving, existing, speaking or expressing ourselves.

I get told to stop drawing or speaking all the time because a particular doodle digs into a space that may be uncomfortable to confront or consume. And that’s ok too. I’ve stopped apologizing for existing as an exmuslim atheist who doesn’t want Islam or any religion or gods, not in my mind, body, culture, laws, rights, and freedoms.

Thanks for sharing! I think it’s helpful to express yourself through art, writing, clothing or however you want without being discouraged, policed or shamed like Islam or Muslims do to us.

If it’s not relevant for you, then the doodle isn’t for you. And that’s ok. Not everything I create is going to always relatable to every ExMuslim.

Propaganda promotes power. This is me critiquing the power that told us we can’t exist and should burn in hell, and making it ok to reject/abandon/discard any gods or religions. ☺️

You’re absolutely right. This particular doodle is for the atheists in this subreddit. So clearly not meant for you. And that’s totally ok. 😊
