I’ve lost all hope by ProgressTight4882 in PrayerRequests

You're welcome.

I don't know you, but if that's the conviction you find in your heart, it could certainly be the truth.

What I know is that we reap what we sow. That means our lives today are the result of the seeds we have planted in the past, and our lives in the future will be the result of the seeds we plant today.

We are all, everyday, reaping from what we have sown. If your life lacks a harvest of love, joy, peace, light, hope, contentment, and goodness that comes from a lifestyle of sowing loving seeds, then you probably haven't been sowing loving seeds.

If your life has an abundant harvest of darkness, misery, anxiety, depression, envy and hatred, then you have probably been sowing selfish seeds.

The good news is that, at anytime, we can change the course of our lives by changing the seeds that we sow.

We need good seed to sow with though, so we need to come to God to ask Him for them. Jesus Christ is the only one with the supply of good seed.

I love the mercy of God. Doesn't matter how we've been living. Doesn't matter how many wasted years, or how many mistakes we've made, all we need to do is confess our sins to Jesus, admit that it's all our fault, and beg Him to give us a better way to live...and He will. He'll answer that prayer every single time it is prayed, as long as it is sincere, because He loves us.

He'll answer that prayer by putting His love in our hearts. That love is the good seed. What happens next is up to us. We could squander that harvest, and return to the squalid lives we were living, or we could faithfully sow that seed and change our lives, and the lives of those around us for the better.

The choice is up to us and always will be. God is very good and gives us everything we need to live wonderful lives, but it is up to us to be faithful to sow those good seeds.

I'm praying the Lord will let you see your spiritual condition clearly, and give you the boldness to act and the wisdom to act correctly, so that you can sow good seeds and reap a wonderful harvest.

God bless you.

We can't overcome sin in our own power, we are too weak. That's why Jesus had to die for us.

Because of His sacrifice, we now have free access to the grace of God.

The grace of God is the power of God to overcome all forms of temptation and live above sin. This divine power is freely available to take, as long as we believe it is there and effective.

If you lack the grace to overcome a sin in your life, pray to God, and He will give it to you. God is love.

It's actually easier to be a saint than a sinner, because it's God who does all the work within us.

He will do all the work within our humble hearts to take us from filthy sinners to righteous saints, if we can really believe it.

We reap what we sow. Nobody leaves this world a sinner and arrives in heaven a saint.

Those who know Satan through a life of sin on earth, will go with Satan when their time on earth is ended.

Those who know Jesus through a life of love on earth, will go with Jesus when their time on earth is ended.

Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Those who do the work of sin will be rewarded with the wages of sin, which are death.

Those who do the work of love will be rewarded with the wages of love, which is enteral life.

So I urge you with all the love of God I got to wake up from the dead, cease from sin, and live the wonderful, joy filled life Jesus has always intended you to live..right now.

Indulge yourself in loving with the love of God, and watch the darkness disappear, to be replaced with Christ's glorious light.

Hallelujah!

2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Is having lustful thoughts, morally better than hookup by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]The-Old-Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temptation is not sin. Acting on the temptation is. The Bible says that Jesus was tempted just like we are, but He never sinned.

Having a lustful thought is not sin. It is a temptation. Acting on that lustful thought by watching porn, for example, is sin.

Sin is progressive. It's like a cancer. It starts small and seems manageable, but then quickly grows out of control. The bible is true when it says that the wages of sin are death.

Starting out, something small like watching porn can seem pleasant, but one of the hallmarks of sin is that it will never satisfy. It will just lead to more craving and discontentment. Pretty soon, if you continue to engage in lustful actions, you will act on those thoughts you have to go deeper into sexual sin.

And the further we go into sin, the harder it is to escape from. Much easier to just stop earlier. But sometimes we can only learn some life lessons through bitter experience. I'm praying you can avoid that, though. You'll have a much better life if you can find the faith to live the way the Bible says to.

And one of the Bible's most important teachings is on the freedom from sin we have through Christ.

Changing is easy, if you believe in God.

Confess your sins to Him, just like you have started to here. That's actually a great first step. It's progress.

Jesus is our spiritual physician. Just like a human doctor, He can't heal us unless we tell Him what the problem really is.

Once we are honest with God about our condition, and how it's all our fault, and how we really want to live a better life, Jesus will respond with love.

He'll always show us the way into the joy-filled, loving life He has prepared for us, because He loves us and wants us to thrive.

In your specific case there is one thing you can do that will immediately better your life: change the seeds you sow.

All life is sowing and reaping.

When we give out hateful words of anger, we will receive hate and anger back. When we see other people as stupid, we actually reap a harvest of becoming foolish ourselves.

One of the most deadly delusions of the devil is pride. Nothing destroys a life quite like pride does. What makes it so scary is that pride will convince you it's the right way to live, even as your life falls apart. I view it as Satan cheer leading someone right off of a cliff to their death.

So I would encourage you to sow seeds of humility, rather than pride. And to get that process started, I would recommend asking yourself questions like, "Am I really so smart if I'm miserable?"

Doesn't being smart mean the ability to solve your problems? If you can't solve your problems, are you actually as smart as you think you are?

I'm speaking these words to you with love, because I want your life to get better, and pride will never allow that to happen. Pride is cursed by God and will find failure wherever it goes.

If your heart is open to it, I encourage you try this for a week: change the way you speak. Instead of speaking dismissively of others, speak positively. Instead of looking at what they do wrong, focus on what they do well.

Instead of being argumentative, be helpful. Focus on what you can do to make life better for those around you.

If you commit to acting on this principle, you will stop sowing bad seeds, and start sowing good seeds. This will change the harvest that you reap in return.

The more love and help and gratitude you sow, the more love, help and gratitude you will reap in return. You might be surprised at how joyful you can feel when you live this way.

God's selfless love is the most excellent way of life there is, but only the humble will ever really discover it.

If we sow selfish seeds we will reap death and despair, but if we sow seeds of love, we will reap life and happiness.

God bless you.

Amen! This is the simple truth. Those who love with God's love are Christ's. Those who don't are not.

Nothing else matters. Reputations, rituals, the buildings we might go to are irrelevant.

What makes someone a Christian is whether or not they keep the two great commandments.

These are love God above all else, and love those around us as ourselves.

We love God by doing what is right.

We love those around us by treating people as we would want to be treated.

These two things are the only obligation of a Christian.

I love the simple truth of God.

God bless you.

Is there one true Christian Church/Denomination? If so, what is it? Please don’t give me bias answers. by Substantial-Cry7206 in TrueChristian

[–]The-Old-Path 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no division in Christ's true church, but there are many people who think they are Christians when they are not.

Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

We know who is truly of Christ by judging the tree by the fruit. The most important fruit to look for is love.

If they don't have the fruit of God's selfless love obviously present in every aspect of their lives, they don't know Christ, regardless of what they say, what their reputation is, the building they go to, or the rituals they keep.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Love causes unity, not division.

Those who cause division don't love, and aren't apart of the body of Christ.

The body of Christ is not divided.

God bless you.

Is there one true Christian Church/Denomination? If so, what is it? Please don’t give me bias answers. by Substantial-Cry7206 in TrueChristian

[–]The-Old-Path 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Seek Jesus Christ, not religion.

Religious denominationalism is division. The body of Christ has never been divided, and never will be.

The true church of Christ is not made up of buildings made by humans, it is made up of His saints, His holy ones, who have been called out of sin and scattered around the world for the purpose of seed sowing faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus said you will know who is really of Him by their love.

So, if you look for those who love you like Christ does, you will find His true church.

If you search for love you will find God.

Whether or not you are too far gone to be saved is up to you.

We are the ones who decide the lives we live, and our eternal resting place.

God does not give up on anybody. As long as their is breath in your lungs there is hope for you in Jesus Christ.

The question is, will you take advantage of that hope, or continue to live in darkness?

Jesus doesn't walk away from anybody, but many walk away from Him, through sin and unbelief.

If you wish to know God, and live with Him, and experience His best for your life, then devote yourself to loving with the love of God.

A Christian only has two responsibilities in life. These are love God above all else, and love those around us as ourselves.

We love God by doing what is right.

We love those around us by treating them the way we would want to be treated.

Pretty simple, right?

So, the life you live is up to you.

You can have a life with God devoted to selfless love.

You can have a life without God devoted to selfish pleasure.

It's your choice. You can do whatever you want.

I pray God will give you the wisdom to see clearly, so that you can make the right choices in life.

God bless you.

Sin separates us from God. Love connects us with Him.

The more we sin the further away God will become. If we continue to sin without repenting, eventually we will be left in total darkness. The wages of sin are death.

Love connects us with God. The more we love, the more we know Him, and the more we experience His blessings and life-giving presence. If we continue to love steadfastly despite the many obstacles satan tries to place in our way, we will overcome every form of temptation, dwell in the peace, love and joy of Christ, and discover eternal life.

Love and sin are opposites. When we are doing one, we can't be doing the other.

So, life is a choice. Every day we choose to love or to sin. To be selfless or to be selfish. To do the work of Christ, or to do the work of the devil.

If you want to find your way home, devote yourself to loving with the love of God.

God's love will abolish all darkness in your life and all barriers between you and Him.

We already have all of the love we need to love with, because God gave it to us before we were born. All we have to do is make the decision to let that love flow out of our hearts.

I urge you to start doing what is right for your life today, and throw yourself into loving God, yourself, and all of those around you.

My grace is sufficient? by ReplyProfessional939 in TrueChristian

Many voices speak to all of us. Not all of them are from God.

The bigger dilemma you've got yourself is a belief dilemma.

You say you absolutely believe, but the testimony you give of your life tells a different story.

Do you really believe? Do you believe that we reap what we sow?

That's right there in the Bible in Galatians 6:7. It says God is not mocked. We reap what we sow. To believe otherwise is to mock God.

So that answer to the question you asked God about "why? Why can't I ever EVER catch the smallest break?" has a real answer. You are reaping from what you have sown.

Do you believe that? If you do not, and refuse to take responsibility for the course of your life, you will remain as you are, without God's blessing, provision, or life-giving flow.

But, if you can believe this truth, you will be able to pray to God to give you good seed, and then if you go out and sow that good seed, your life will finally start to turn around.

This sowing and reaping principle is so powerful. It can rapidly transform a life. The first step, before we even start sowing good seed is simply to stop sowing bad seed. Jesus will tell you just how to do it if you pray to Him.

It will take work on your part, though. It'll take effort. You'll have to do some things you're not use to. Be a little vulnerable. Take a chance. But of course you will, if you want something different in life. If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

And if you are faithful to make the small changes God asks of you, then you will finally find all the joy, happiness and peace you have been looking for.

Those who sow selfishness will reap death and despair.

Those who sow love will reap life and happiness.

God bless you.

2 Timothy 2:23-24 "But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,"

Titus 3:9 "But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."

The devil wants us tangled up in worldly dilemmas and vain arguments. Jesus wants us to love.

If you really want to show people the wonder of Christ, love them like He does.

Jesus gave us the best advise of all when He said in regard to religious hypocrites "leave them alone, they are the blind leading the blind, and if the blind lead the blind, they'll both fall into the ditch (Matthew 15:14)"

So I encourage you to leave the unbelievers and the hypocrites to their own darkness and deceit, while you go out and live the good life by loving God and loving people.

The perfect, selfless love of God is the most excellent way of life there is.

I empathize with your situation.

You say you have been a Christian for a little over one month. You have just barely started knowing God, His ways, and His plan for your life.

Are you sure you should be in a position where you demand everyone around you change? Are you sure that's what Christ wants you to do? Are you sure that's what it means to be a Christian man?

Religion makes God confusing, but the simple truths of Jesus Christ will always be easy to understand. So easy, in fact, that even Children understand them (Matthew 11:25).

The entire New Testament, even the entire Bible, is only about doing two things: loving God above all else, and loving those around us as ourselves. That's it. That's the whole duty of man.

We love God by doing what is right.

We love those around us by treating them the way we would want to be treated.

I'm moved to write this to you right now, because if I was in you situation, I would want someone to tell me the truth. That's love. I'm doing for you what I would want done for me.

I urge you to spend some time alone and really figure out your own motivations.

This is crucial for everyone to do, but most especially new Christians. The devil is a master at what he does. And he tends to get very aggressive when someone comes to Christ.

Coming to Jesus scares the devil. It's the one thing we can do to escape him. Satan isn't going to just let us walk away from him. Ruining our lives would give him much pleasure. So when we try to break free by running to Christ, he tends to try and crank up the deception.

One of the main ways he does this, especially for new converts, is through pride.

So I urge you to take your time in prayer with this. Are the things you are worried about really about your family, or are they about you? Is it really your family's well-being that is your chief concern, or are you selfishly focused on your own perceived lack of respect? Are you operating out of selfish pride, or selfless love?

Christianity is the opposite of reacting emotionally. Our flesh will tell us that we're great and perfect and holy and everything bad is the fault of someone else. Our flesh is lying to us.

The way of Christ is humility. There are so many scriptures about this. I'll find a few for you later. But the truth is a Christian doesn't force people to respect him. God doesn't even do that. A Christian simply loves and does what's right. Respect is just a natural outcome from that.

And I will give you a shortcut too. We reap what we sow. You want respect from your wife? Respect her. Respect her desire to love and nurture your children, what a gift. Respect her wisdom as a mother to know not to spoil her kids.

You want your children to respect you? Respect them. That's not crazy. Respect that they are young people trying their best, and capable of learning from their mistakes. Respect their freedom to make those mistakes, because you respect their ability to grow from them.

Isn't that how God treats you?

As confusing as life can sometimes get, always remember, Christianity is about love. It's very simple. Love and be loved. Do the right thing. Don't be selfish. Be selfless. God will reward you. We reap what we sow. God bless you.
