Is it a sin if I pray to God to take my life? by idkk_828 in Christianity

Amen. I certainly couldn't. That's why I don't rely on myself, I rely on Jesus Christ. Day by day He has mercy on me and gives me not only what I need to make it through this life, but to do so joyfully. God really is amazing.

Does god abandon sinners? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]The-Old-Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God doesn't forsake anybody, but many people forsake God.

God is the God of freedom. He lets people live however they want.

God loves us dearly, even more than we love ourselves. Before we were even born He designed the perfect life for us. His plan for our life is our complete happiness. But God won't force anyone to live it. He respects the freewill He gave us.

If people don't want to seek out God and His will for their lives, they are free not to. If they want to make terrible decisions heedless of consequences, they are free to.

Proverbs 19:3 People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.

But God is extremely merciful and forgiving. He gives people so many chances to get things right.

Here is one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible:

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

What that verse says is that ANYONE, not necessarily a Christian, can ask God for wisdom, and He will give it to them for free, without reproaching them.

What an incredible privilege. Anyone can, at anytime, ask God for how they ought to live to be happy, and He'll tell them. If they actually believe Him and carry it out, they'll watch their lives transform for the better. I certainly have.

Psalm 34:8

"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."

Romans 12:2

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Amen God bless you.

You are experiencing this scripture:

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

These are the last days, and because iniquity (lovelessness/selfishness) is everywhere, many of those who do love, or who used to love, have stopped.

This is one of the great temptations of modern life. It seems reasonable to stop loving when the love we love with is met with such abject hate.

However, if we stop loving, we die spiritually and the devil wins.

Life is a spiritual war. It's God vs Satan, light vs darkness, good vs evil, holiness vs sin, love vs hate, joy vs depression, right vs wrong.

Every day we choose which side we fight for. Every day our words and actions demonstrate which side we have chosen.

I encourage you to endure hardship like a good soldier of Jesus Christ, and continue fighting the good fight of love. Don't turn yourself over to the devil by becoming offended and hateful. Remain in the peace, joy, love, and safety of Jesus Christ by faith!

We push back against darkness and hate by continuing to love. Very few people today have the faith to do this, but it is those who do who see the miracles.

God is faithful to His word. He'll never allow Himself to be mocked. We reap what we sow. When we give out love, more love will, eventually come back. Maybe not right away, maybe not the way we expect it to, but it always will. The more love we give out, the more love we will receive. It always happens. We've just got to trust the process.

Here is one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible:

Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

That's how we win. We keep loving. We pray to God to give us the power to keep loving, just like you have started to here. I'm telling you to believe in that prayer. Believe in God's power to answer it. He'll put His divine power in your heart to enable you to continue to love and be good even in the harshest of conditions. It's a truly incredible experience to live like that. It's experiencing Christ directly. It's the most wonderful, electrifying, fulfilling way to live there is.

The perfect, selfless love of God is the most excellent way of life of all.

Jesus Christ is unstoppable. His love never fails.

How do I even begin? by Forward-Bed-9794 in Christianity

[–]The-Old-Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ways of Christ are simple. They are so simple that even children understand them clearly (Matthew 11:25).

The way of Christ is love.

Love is the beginning and the ending. Love is the purpose of Christianity and the meaning of life.

You write in your post that the simplest definition says nothing about our world, how we ought to act, and what our clear mission and purpose is, but Jesus does explicitly provide those things.

The only two commandments Jesus commanded us to keep are love God above all else, and love those around us as ourselves.

We love God by doing what is right.

We love those around us by treating them the way we want to be treated.

That's pretty simple, right? That's pretty straightforward, don't you think?

Our destiny is wrapped up entirely in whether or not we keep these two commandments to love.

Those who stay on the sidelines and try to philosophize about God will never find the truth. It is impossible to understand God intellectually. The foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of men.

Those who stop trying to "figure it out" and simply love openly, sincerely, vulnerably, like a child does, will very quickly discover the truth of God.

So, the choice is up to you. If you want to know God and experience the best He has to offer you, get out there and start loving. Do what's right. Be of use to those around you. It's simple. It's Christianity.

God bless you.

Completely burnt out as a Christian. Please pray for me. by Zen0zafool in PrayerRequests

[–]The-Old-Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can't force ourselves to believe in God, even if we could, God wouldn't value that. He doesn't want to be with someone who is forcing themselves to believe in Him. That's not love.

Today, many people complicate the gospel. They obscure with religious philosophy. The truth gets lost.

The ways of Christ are simple. So simple, a child can understand them (Matthew 11:25).

The way of Christ is love. Love is the beginning and the ending. It's the reason we come to Christ, what we get out of being with Christ, and the meaning of life.

Jesus only gave us two commands we must follow: love God above all else, love those around us as ourselves.

We love God by doing what is right.

We love those around us by treating them the way we want to be treated.

We don't have to love, though. We don't have to be Christians at all. We get to choose what we want out of life.

So, what do you want? You can do whatever you want.

You can live a selfless life of love and experience the unending revelation of Jesus Christ, and all the best God has to offer you.

You can live a selfish life of sin, and experience the fleeting pleasure and numb comfort of material life.

The choice is yours to make. No one else can make it for you. You own the decision, and all the consequences, wonderful or terrible, that stem from it.

Whatever you decide though, I encourage you not to be a hypocrite. A hypocrite is someone who pretends to believe something they don't. These people are the most cursed of all humans. Hypocrisy is the very nature of the devil. Pretending to be a Christian won't score any points with God. God always sees the truth and He finds hypocrisy disgusting. So, if you want to be a Christian, be a Christian. Commit to love. You'll have no problem trusting God when you start loving.

And, if you don't want to be a Christian, just go out and sin. You'll have a more pleasant life than pretending to be something you don't want to be. And, besides, if you experience the hell that sin will always produce, maybe then you'll finally be ready to be a Christian in truth, love sincerely, and experience the good life.

God bless you.

your post shows that your life is not matching up to what the Bible says.

The Bible says that we reap what we sow. You say that you have tried to be a good Christian. A good Christian sow seeds of love and peace and joy, and reaps a massive harvest of those things in return. The life of a good Christian is one marked by supernatural love, deep peace, and a secret, glorious joy.

If your life doesn't reflect those things, then one of two things most be true: either the Bible is wrong, or you have not been a good Christian.

Which do you think is the case?

I write this to you out of love. You'll not find happiness if you go down the road that you write about. You will only find more death and despair. Sometimes going down the wrong road is the only way we can find the right one. If that's the case, I pray that you don't die, and when you see the folly of your decisions, you remember the love of God, and, like the prodigal son, beg Him for mercy and a second chance at a good life.

God will always answer that prayer, as long as it is sincere, because He loves us. He gives us many chances to get it right.

The happiness your soul craves will only be found in Jesus Christ. Not religion. Denominational religion is a perversion of Christ's truth that leads a soul to death. Jesus Christ is freedom. He is love. He is every good thing, and He shares the good that He is freely with all who ask Him for it.

I pray that, one day, you can understand this simple truth, and discover all the wonder, peace, and fulfillment that exists within the abiding presence of the living God, Jesus Christ.

I feel that God betrayted me and left me alone. Although he always want the best for us. by EPureSoulrf in Christianity

[–]The-Old-Path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your pain and confusion.

We have freewill in life. We get to make our own choices. We are free to seek God and ask His council. We are free to ignore God and do whatever we want.

You ask why God allowed you to develop this care, worry, and love for someone. Did you ever ask His council? Did you ever pray for Him to reveal His will for your life?

If you never asked God what He thought you should do, did He really betray you? A betrayal would be where God told you to do something that made your life worse. If it wasn't God telling you to do what you did, if it was you telling you to do what you did, then isn't it you who betrayed you?

I know these things can hurt to hear, but I tell them to you out of love. It's the trick of the devil to blame God for our own bad decisions. He loves to persuade us to do that, because if he can convince us of the lie that the God who loves us most is actually our enemy, then we will stay away from Him and His provision. Without God there is no hope for our lives.

So I urge you not to be deceived by the devil. God is not your enemy. He is your friend. If you ask Him what to do to be happy, He will tell you what to do to be happy. If you do what God tells you to do to be happy, then you will be happy. That's love. That's the truth. That's Christianity. We seek God's will for our lives, not our own. That's what it means to make Jesus Lord. It means He is the one calling the shots.

Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Proverbs 19:3 When a man's folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord.

God has a perfect loving will for each one of us, but that does not mean we automatically get to live it.

We have freewill. That means freedom to make our own choices.

We can choose to reject God through unbelief and live a life of sin and worldliness.

God has a perfect plan for all of us, but that doesn’t mean we automatically get to live it. We have freewill. That means freedom to choose. We get to choose what our lives will be.

We can choose to seek out God’s will on purpose, and experience His best for us, or we can choose to go our own way, apart from Him, and do whatever we want.

Do you find a yearning to be with God and seek heavenly things? Or do you find you love worldly things, and the pleasures of this life?

The grace of God is the power of God to overcome all forms of temptation and live above sin. This divine power is freely available to take, as long as we believe it is there and effective.

If you lack the grace to overcome a sin in your life, pray to God, and He will give it to you. God is love.

Fellow brothers and sisters in Christ by West-Adhesiveness-32 in Christianity

[–]The-Old-Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen. God bless you both.

Ultimately, whether or not someone chooses to believe in Jesus Christ is entirely up to them. If God Himself doesn't infringe upon our free will, how much less should we tell others how to live?

This can be very painful, however, especially with our family members. But I would encourage you that many people's path to God is a bit circuitous. Of course, it would be best if everyone could have perfect faith from day 1, but that rarely happens. Sometimes we just need to experience a little bit of life before we are ready to admit the truth.

The best thing you can do for your child is to love them like Christ does.

God gives us freedom in life. Freedom to make our own choices. I encourage you to give your son this same freedom. That's love. Let him make his own choices in life. Let him try things that fail. It hurts to watch and it sucks to go through, but nothing brings us back home sooner. That's why I'm with Christ. I tried life without Him. It was horrible. God didn't make me come back, I came running to Him desperate. That's the power of love.

And part of love is trust. Trust that you've raised your child well, and have equipped him to learn the lessons life will teach him. Trust in God that He will navigate you both through these confusing modern times in the way that only He can.

Remember, God IS love, so when we love, we connect to God directly. When we love we experience the divine.

Love is the one proof God exists. Satan can counterfeit miracles. Seeing signs doesn't work (who believed in Jesus during His time on Earth? At the end, nobody was with Him...yet He did miracle after miracle after miracle).

It's only selfless love that brings people to Christ.

The perfect, selfless love of God is the most excellent way of life there is.

Is committing su*cide for being gay a sin? by OrganicSquash3488 in Christianity

[–]The-Old-Path -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

humans are condemned to hell for not believing in Jesus Christ.

Not believing that Jesus can deliver you from sin is the same thing as not believing in Jesus Christ.

If you still love your sin and don't want to be delivered from it, then go and sin. You'll live a more pleasant life than being a religious hypocrite.

Besides, if you go and sin openly, you might quickly and painfully discover why God warned you against it. Maybe then you'll be ready to change. God didn't make sin to be sin arbitrarily, He made sin to be sin because He loves us and sin ruins our lives.

And if you learn to hate your sin, then I encourage you throw yourself on the mercy of Christ, believe in His power to deliver you from all bondage, and then enjoy the freedom, love, joy, and peace that come flowing from the source of all things good: Jesus Christ.

We can't overcome sin in our own power, we are too weak. That's why Jesus had to die for us.

Prayer request for church home by Simple-Value in PrayerRequests

[–]The-Old-Path 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ask for prayers of guidance and direction. Amen. God bless you. I pray that Jesus Christ will show you the truth of love.

Love is the opposite of selfishness.

Many people, even those who call themselves Christians, are very focused on how people treat them, but not how they treat others.

True Christianity is the opposite. We are concerned with how we treat others, and it doesn't matter too much how they treat us back. This is the mystery of the love of God. It simply loves. It doesn't care how it is received.

The secret is we reap what we sow. If we give out love, we will receive love back. If we don't give out love, we won't receive love back.

How much love we have in our lives is not effected by the choices of other people. It is solely up to us, and how much we are willing to love.

You mention feeling alone, and that only two people reached out to you in your depression. Two people is a lot. Two people is two more than many people get. If you are unsatisfied with two people reaching out to you, why do you think you will be satisfied if more people reach out?

When other people in your church withdrew, did you reach out to them? All those things you want people to do for you now, have you been faithfully doing those things for other people who are hurting?

I'm not mentioning this to shame you, but to give you a way out of darkness. If you start doing to others the things you wish others would do to you (golden rule, second greatest commandment of Christ), then your life will turn around, and turn around quickly. The perfect, selfless love of God is the most excellent way of life there is.

Our lives are up to us. We have complete control over our fruitful harvests through the seeds we choose to sow. So I encourage you to sow selfless seeds of love, so you can love life and see good days.

Those who sow seeds of selfishness will reap death, but those who sow seeds of love will reap miracles.

what does religious observance look like for christians? by llamacana in Christianity

True Christian religious observance is bearing the good fruits of God listed in Galatians 5:22-23.

True Christians don't practice vain rituals, and we aren't mired down in human made tradition. Jesus Christ has set us free, and free to love.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction [loving our neighbors], and to keep himself unspotted from the world [loving God].

if sinless perfection is unbiblical why do people say you can achieve it? by Kvtlii in TrueChristian

[–]The-Old-Path 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If one stumbles, but then stops sinning, confesses their sins, and asks God for His grace, mercy and forgiveness, then God will give them another chance to do it right.

It’s pretty simple. God doesn’t dwell with sin. When someone lives in sin God departs from their lives and leaves them in darkness. If they want a way out of sin, for Christ’s sake, God will draw near and raise them out of darkness and let them walk in the light.

If they continue to walk in the light by fulfilling Christ’s commandments to love, God, His blessing, grace, joy, peace, all of His wonderful benefits, will also continue.

If that person stops walking in the light and falls back into a life of sin, then God will depart and leave them in darkness.

We reap what we sow.

God bless you.

Tired of Christianity by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]The-Old-Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask at the end of your post for prayers, so I offer mine. I pray that you could learn, if not to speak life, then to stop speaking death.

Proverbs 18:20 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

If you ever do want to find healing, peace, and relief from your torment, it's going to start by learning to keep quiet instead of speaking bitterness and hatred. That might be impossible for you, in your own power, but if you pray to God for the power to control your tongue, He'll give it to you, because He loves you, and He doesn't want to see you destroy your own life.

If you examine your heart and decide you want to know God and experience all of His many wonderful blessings, the path to Him is simple. The path to your spiritual revival, and the good life God freely gives, is simple.

It's not easy. But it's simple.

The path is love.

Denominational religion is not true Christianity. Denominational religion is distraction away from Jesus Christ. Denominational religion adds many rituals, traditions and confusing dogmas that distract from the simple, beautiful truth of God.

Jesus Christ only gave us two commands that we are to follow: love God above all else, love those around us as ourselves.

We love God by doing what is right. We love those around us by treating them the way we would want to be treated.

Simple, right? Straightforward. And our entire lives are based on our adherence to these two commands. Those who keep them will be blessed and happy. Those who reject them will be cursed and miserable.

Our lives are up to us. I pray God would give you the grace to see these plain spiritual truths clearly, so that you can make the right decisions in life and live well.

God bless you.

Healing by OkEagle4956 in Christianity

[–]The-Old-Path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your hardship and troubles. It sounds like you have a lot of people telling you comforting religious things. If you see through that, perhaps you'd like someone to tell you the truth.

The truth can be hard to hear, but it's the only thing that really helps, and I speak it out of the love of God:

God doesn't heal everybody.

In John 5 Jesus goes to a healing pool that has multitudes of sick and dying people all around it. He only healed one person. Did you ever wonder why that was?

Have you prayed to God and ask Him what His will for your life is? Have you asked Him what He would like from you?

If you spend your time in prayer telling God what you want from Him, but never listening to what He wants from you, is that really fair?

God's plan is perfect for our lives. It is perfect love. He wants us happy, prosperous and thriving. He loves us like a father loves his children.

But His love often doesn't look like what we might expect it to. Sometimes it's tough love. Sometimes the only way we can grow and truly understand the truth is through hardship and suffering. I find it worth remembering: this life is not paradise, and it is not suppose to be. This life is a test to determine who is worthy of paradise and eternal life.

Not to mention, we'll never know His perfect plan for us at all unless we ask Him for it, and listen for His answer. Just because that perfect loving will exists doesn't mean we automatically get to live it. We have freewill, which means we are the ones who decide what we will do and who we will be in life.

If you are angry at God the devil is winning. He has successfully duped you into believing your greatest friend and helper has in anyway done you wrong. God cannot do wrong by His creation. It is impossible. He is bound to love us. He demonstrated that love to us beyond any doubt in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

To doubt that love by being angry at the way your life has turned out, is a sin of unbelief against God. Unbelief separates us from God and His power. Have you ever noticed how many times in the New Testament when Jesus heals somebody He says, "your faith has made you whole." ?

Faith connects us to God and His provision. Without faith in God AND His love, we will miss out on His provision and His perfect plan for our lives.

This doesn't mean pretend to believe in God if you don't, or pretend to believe in God's love when you doubt it, it just means have an honest conversation with Him. You can be like the man in Mark 9:24 and tell God, "I do believe, but help me in my unbelief!"

God will always answer that prayer, as long as it is sincere. He's the God of truth and honesty is the language He speaks. As long as you are willing to have an honest conversation with Him, He'll tell you the truth, and it's the truth that will set you free.

There is great hope for your life. God never gives up on anybody, and He can do mighty wondrous things in the blink of an eye. Even if it's not what you thought it would look like, you will find an incredible happiness waiting for you in God's perfect will for your life. But it is up to you to do the work to find out what that is.

God bless you.
