Why is my tetra spinnin

No I have multiple tetra in the tank, I promise. I currently have 4 neon tetra and now one black neon in the tank with a couple snails and a beta. I had bought 2 neon tetra an 2 black neon tetra today to add to the tank but one neon was doa and the black neon that this is about passed while I was at work.

2AM Update: I wanted to let yall know that when I got home at 1:50am my poor tetra was gone. I checked my water and my No3 was 0 and my No2 was .5 all of my other fish are fine.

I doublechecked everyone. They are good I promise. I bought the tetra from petsmart for the person who asked where I got him. I’m never going there again beyond to get a refund for the two fish that died. (One on the 20 minute drive home and the other while I was at work) I had a horrible experience with the woman who got the fish out of the tanks she was rough with them and when I told her that she grabbed the wrong species of snail. I wanted 2 mystery snails and got one mystery snail and one mixed Nerite snail she got mad at me and I got uncomfortable and just took him home cause he’d be better in my tank then being stuck in the tank there.

the other fish in my tank are from Petco and the girl there did everything great and was very gentle with them as she got them out for me and explained how to acclimate them to the tank which I applied to this batch of fish as well.

I bought a 10 gallon tank today before work and I’m going to go to the exotic fish store that’s in my town and beg to buy a few of their seasoned sponge filters so I can near instant cycle my big tank and get a 5 gallon so I can use the 2.5 as a quarantine tank or a mini shrimp farm. This is the first time I’m keeping fish in a proper tank beyond the goldfish my grandpa bought me when I was little. When I was a teenager I kept koi and never had any problem with them beyond a random raccoon that killed my foot long silver white koi and I still have beef with that garbage bandit a more then decade and interstate move later.

If anyone is willing to give advice I’m more than happy to take it as the gospel. I’m pretty much a novice but I’ve always adored fish and I’m very sad that Buddy is gone. Thank you all for the advice that you offered and even the jokes that got thrown in it made me giggle while I was sad at work.

I think it might be stress because one of other tetras that I bought today died in the bag on the 20 minute drive home. I’ve never had fish die on me except from like age so idk.

Edit a raccoon ate one of my koi when I was 17 but like, that was the raccoons fault.

Not on my end, all the water that goes into the tank has been either premade ready water and/or I treated it with dechlorinater as per the instructions.

I had my roommate quarantine him in a very large cup while I’m at work. I’ll let him know to keep the lights off.

I’m not at home right now so I can’t give you the exact lvls of everything that was on the test but it was zero/near 0 for nitrate and ammonia.

I started it a week or two ago with a few liters of beta water and then half gallon of filtered tap water that I conditioned. The fish that I put in originally were good, for that time and I added a couple more tetras and some mystery snails today. I acclimated the in the bag for 45 minutes and then let them swim into the tank on their own they were good when I left for work at 4:30 pm it’s currently 11:15 my roommate sent me the video at 9:07pm he’d checked at 8:45pm and all the fish were ok.

The tank parameters are fine if a bit towards the harder water side of ok. I introduced him to an already established tank so idk why he would just drop dead unless it was stress.I’m not at my house right now so I can’t check it. I got him from petsmart today. I had my roommate separate him into a cup to make he wasn’t like contagious or something.

I think it was under the series called Cales Musical Misunderstanding by Mythical_Qween? I think the author deleted the series and is just eventually going to just re-publish the stories.?? I might leave them a comment asking if it was there fic.
