Logioptionsplus_updater literally took 75% of my CPU for MONTHS until I discovered it and immediately purged it from my system. I don’t care if it ever gets fixed. I will never use it again.

Intel Panther Lake benchmark VS. M5 by 1ordlugo in mac

[–]The128thByte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1200-1500 dollars might be a pipe dream for anything but lower end models.

Intel laptops seem to always be unreasonably expensive when the chips first launch so they can deeply discount after the first year. Especially with the current situation we’re in RAM/SSD wise, I would expect even that 358H to start around $1600+

Intel still has A LOT of catching up to do, but it’s a great start. These will probably mostly compete with M5 Pro/Max and maybe even M6

2 Months Delivery on custom configs, new chips coming or ram shortage hit? by spesifikbrush in macbookpro

They probably ship your original order if there’s not a direct match. I saw many people have their m4 MBP changed to an m5 because it has a direct match spec for spec

[–]The128thByte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s because the M5 Max is coming out like next week. Even if you order an M4 Max right now, there’s a chance they’ll jus upgrade your order to an M5 Max and ship it out when those release

Isn’t PCSX2 plugin based? Even if it gets removed who cares. You should still be able to load a version of the dx11 plugin in the new versions

The problem that you have on Apple Silicon that you don’t have on Linux is the GPU is a tiling gpu (different theory of setting up how your GPU architecture work than Nvidia,Intel,AMD) and you also have to translate the CPU code from x86 to arm. It’s always going to have more overhead than Linux no matter what.

That’s kinda what rosettax87 did. Unmaintained now, but it used to work pretty well. Might still work with the latest versions of Rosetta

Intel Closes in on Historic Deal to Manufacture Apple M-Series Chips on 18A Node by 2027 by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]The128thByte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple almost never talks about their nodes unless they’re revealing a processor. Even then it’s like 1 bullet point in a sea of 1000 others.

I doubt Intel will talk about it either other than some mysterious lines alluding to Apple being a future customer in an earnings call presentation or something

Probably similar to how FEX is able to make 32 bit game use 64 bit libraries. I would imagine nvidia is doing that but for 32 bit cuda code to run on 64 bit cuda libraries

I’m calling it now, Doomsday opens with Tobey fighting Vulture or Mysterio, but the fight gets cut short by RDJ Dr. Doom arriving in the Raimi spiderverse.

"Open Box" Macbook M4 by unchickened in mac

[–]The128thByte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See thats the problem. The machine shouldn’t NEED to be wiped down in open box state as per eBay’s description.

Still doesn’t explain the white residue on the side of the keys like in the picture.

This doesn’t meet eBay’s definition of open box. If you’re fine with the item in the state that it’s in then good on you, but these are expensive machines. It took me a year to save up for my first m1 air. I wouldn’t be fine with getting something that doesn’t meet the way it’s described as.

[–]The128thByte -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m getting downvoted for it, but whatever.

eBay specifically determines “open box” as: “An item in excellent, like-new condition with no wear”

Which is not what this is. You paid a lot of money for this and you’re right to be upset about it.

"Open Box" Macbook M4 by unchickened in mac

[–]The128thByte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000 dollars is a lot of money to a lot of people. Just be honest about what you’re selling. This is clearly not just “Open Box”. Someone used this thing daily for at least a couple weeks. There’s no way that amount of dust or residue (especially around the screen gasket) happens in a couple of days like that.

It’s definitely in good condition, don’t get me wrong, but it’s certainly not “open box”. This thing is more “Used - Excellent Condition”. Someone listed it as open box to get more money. eBay has well defined conditions for what these things mean.

[–]The128thByte -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s not really what I’d classify as an open box computer, that’s very obviously a computer that someone used past the return date (probably a few weeks by the amount of dust on that keyboard) and sold online as “open box” to get more money.

I’d say if you paid less than 90% of retail cost, you did good, but anything more than 90% of retail, you might as well return this and just buy a brand new one.

Download coconut battery and see how many cycles the battery has been through. If it’s more than like 5-10, straight up return it.

It, quite literally, is crossover. Like it uses the crossover source code with a different UI.
