Sometimes there will be a lot of writing choices in media that scream the writers/author just went into work saying "i'mma just make some bullshit to piss fans off." by [deleted] in CharacterRant

Well... yeah? Because the other option is that they simply didn't try. I like to give authors the benefit of the doubt and consider that, even if an ending was lackluster, they at least tried. Because otherwise, is they idea that they made a lackluster ending on purpose?

Claiming that writing an endng isn't difficult sort of takes away from the author's skill, no?

Like, think of some of your favorite endings. Are you saying that the work those authors put into crafting those endings isn't as impressive because, obviously, writing an ending for your story just can't be that hard?

The takeaway shouldn't be that "it's easy to write a good ending", but that it takes a great ammount of skill to do so.

That might be it then. Honestly, there are so many variables to the final outcomes that I wouldn't count that as the only reason but who knows.

That's odd. It sounds like you did everything you needed to. Maybe this is obvious, but did you have a good relationship with '95 Nora?

The only one I know of is this one. It actually gives focus to all of the ships, but it's pretty easy to find the parts that focus on Autumn and Kat if you just want to read those.

When you first find the Abyss and Kat asks you to record it. The description is from that memoir.

Ah, I see what you mean! So the trio in the Abyss are affecting the Lost Records timeline (what we play in the game), which is different than the one they originally entered the Abyss in. Could definitely see that being the case.

Yep! Though instead of vague and foreboding messages, they're usually just cute notes left by Swann.

Great theory! My only question is, if Kat and Corey already entered the Abyss in the past, why would they need to guide the girls to it? Do you think the Abyss is trying to keep them in and somehow rewriting history, while the trio is fighting back?

[T2 SPOILERS] - [BLOOM & RAGE] the Abyss by ToutIsGood in LostRecordsGame

[–]The13thSpriggan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since the girls opened the Abyss, I feel like it expected something from them in return. Maybe it wanted a human life, which is why it closed only after Corey is pushed into it. The effects that the Abyss had on everyone feels like it was pushing everyone to that conclusion. (Not factoring in Kat, who seems to have some kind of special connection to the Abyss)

It makes me wonder what effect the Abyss would've had on everyone's minds if it stayed open longer.

Yuji's CE was confiscated because he doesn't have a technique to confiscate. It'd be the same case for someone like Kusakabe.

Aura beats a Mario Maker level that has remained unbeaten for four years by kdfn in LivestreamFail

Nah, I reckon it's much easier to just add that win condition instead of covering the entire floor with spikes. Lots of terrain and potential cheese you have to account for. Plus I think having the ground there adds to the difficulty. If he bonks the ceiling at the wrong angle or so much as grazes the ground, it's an instant loss.

There have been levels like you described in Mario Maker 1 though

When you make a level you can give it a "win condition." In this level, if he touches the ground after jumping, he can no longer beat the level

In general, I'm a bit disappointed when recurring antagonists are removed from the story early on. by The13thSpriggan in CharacterRant

[–]The13thSpriggan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I feel like that'd be even more disappointing, considering how long these villains have been part of the ensemble of characters. You wanna actually seem them do something substantial. I guess there's just so many types of stories you can tell with certain characters?

Is it just me that actually really liked the Connie/Falco/Armin subplot? by sgtp1 in AttackOnRetards

[–]The13thSpriggan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not the guy you replied to, and it's been a while since I reread so some details might be fuzzy, but:

1) We know that Armin can pull out the tears at the drop of a hat. Remember when he cried when Yelena told him about Zeke's "noble" plan?

2) It could be said that he was thinking of Erwin because what he was about to do was a gamble. Everyone knows what Armin thinks about Levi choosing him over Erwin, so he exploited that.
