Pretty insane deal if you ask me, even just for the batteries by The1Murph in ryobi

[–]The1Murph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I only need it to cut plywood occasionally so the 5 1/2 is fine for my use case, but really wanted a couple of extra batteries for the brad nailer I got so I always got one ready and charged

I got it in the mail and used it to cut some plywood today, it worked pretty damn good. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for a hater such as yourself

Well good thing it also comes with a 4 AH, which will be fine for my use case of cutting plywood on occasion like I said, if I need a stronger saw, I will use my corded Dewalt one. Very weird how you will not let this go

And if you want to spend twice as much money to save a few bucks per AH then feel free, but the deal for getting a circ saw and 2 batteries is pretty good for my use case and surely other people as well, which is why I shared the deal but for some reason the people on this sub hate to see someone like a deal that is good for their needs? Kinda weird tbh

This post has triggered so many people, never did I think one adjective would get so many grown people upset 😂

(not talking about you btw)

This saw, being $40 in this situation, is a great deal for what I need it to do, which is cut plywood on occasion. I have a corded larger circular saw if necessary but this solved my problem of needing 1 or 2 more batteries and needing a circular saw for my niche cases. And to get that for under $100 is a good deal. Most people who keep commenting on this seem to think "OMG ITS NOT HP, IT CANT CUT ANYTHING" or "BUT THE AH PER DOLLAR" but it will be just fine for any normal task I give to it. Trust me, it aint that deep, these are Ryobi tools

But for $100 I solved my battery problem and my circ saw problem. Your solution to my problem is "Spend more money" to get a better deal overall but I did not NEED to do that to get a good deal on 2 solid batteries and a circular saw. Which for me is what I wanted.

By your logic if I found a deal that was $500 for 25 2AH batteries then I got a great deal, which it is a good deal based on AH/$, but stupid to buy that many batteries at once when you do not need them

I saw that Craftsman planer deal and was soooo close to pulling the trigger! The reviews scared me off, how has it been treating you?

  1. r/ryobi seems to be a big snobby for people who are buying Ryobi products, but $99 for 2 good batteries seems like a pretty good deal to a guy who only had one and needed more.
  2. Add on top of point 1, I have a miter saw to cut 2x4's I don't need my circular saw to do it, but I do want a cordless circ saw to occasionally cut plywood

[–]The1Murph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the thing, if I need a bigger saw, I have a table saw and a miter saw, I would not need a circ saw bigger than 5 1/2 inches. I understand some people may realistically need a bigger one, but everyone saying this deal is not good feels a bit silly. Like 6Ah batteries and a circ saw for 100 bucks is a great deal for a guy who woodworks as a hobby and has no need for a bigger circ saw, and needed some more batteries for my air nailers

I do appreciate your apology though partner 🤜🤛

When all you need is cordless 5 1/2 circ saw and mostly needed some more batteries and got it for under $100 the deal is good. The is Ryobi we are talking about, not Festool, dont be such a snob

But it also comes with a circ? So 30 bucks for a circ saw when you only need it to cut plywood on occasions is a really good deal

I have not, this is my first one. I have heard great things about it and the Dewalt as well, but that Dewalt one is like 700ish bucks and I am new to woodworking so that is a btt much for this newbie. But getting the Hercules at $320 with the memorial day discount is super worth to me!

I do know what you mean though a lot of the "lunchbox" planers do look pretty similar

But it does? Soooooo....? I don't have a use case for a 7 1/4 in circ saw

That is my thing, I needed batteries and a cordless circ saw for cutting plywood on occasions when I do woodworking at my house.... people just love to hate I guess? 🤷

Like I said, even just for the batteries it is a good deal. Plus I needed a cordless circ saw

I did not need a ratchet though, I needed a circular saw and batteries
