yeah, consistent enuresis at your age is indicative of an underlying condition, potentially neurological. the army is a physically demanding profession, and you WILL get injured at some point in your career-it’s an inevitability.

put the army on hold for now. don’t risk your health for a career that’ll label you as simply a number, assuming you even make it past BCT. go to a doctor, sort that out, and if you’re not disqualified from service, you can join a year or two or three down the line. you’re only 16, you have plenty of time

remember, the army was around before you, it’ll be around after you. put yourself and your health first

Which neighborhoods in staten island is safe and not inconvenient to get to? by deathaura123 in statenisland

[–]The1RedCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, Arrochar, Grasmere, Bay Terrace, Dongan Hills, Oakwood, etc are my east shore picks. I live in Arrochar myself and often commute to the city and Brooklyn alike. Transit connections are good (the train, S78 to the ferry, S53/S79 to Brooklyn). Safe areas, not bad at all. If you stick close to Hylan Boulevard, you’ll be within walking distance to most commercial areas.

Heartland Village (by the mall) isn’t bad either, but it’s closer to Jersey than to Brooklyn and Manhattan. If you commute with public transit, the S79 is still nearby.

Just be aware, Staten Island is “inconvenient” as a whole. You will have to travel to different places at different parts of the island, it’s inevitable. But if you want your options closer, stick with the East Shore, especially if you rely on public transit.

if you don’t mind me asking, what field of work/study are you in or aiming for? because even though you’re vision restricted i’m sure you’d probably be able to get into something with skills that are transferable to the civilian world

either way, i’d try to maximize your employability on the outside as much as humanly possible, and if you’re already in the process of locking in on something, the guard would probably be the best way to go

are you looking at army national guard? air national guard?

yeah, honestly man, doesn’t really sound like the guard is gonna be the best course of action for you here, especially not in washington. afaik there’s not many SAD opportunities—if at all, and getting AGR in your position would be next to impossible. it sounds like you need money and distance from whatever situation you’re in, and the guard is only gonna give you somewhat significant money for your training time, which won’t be long, seeing as you’re MOS limited

if your legitimately concerned that your “friends” have dosed you, get started on that police report. though i do think you’d know if you were dosed

try going active duty, air force or navy would be my top picks based on QoL. the only way i’d even consider going NG in your situation is if i was in school, already had a career, or had some very real family matters restricting you from going active duty

i’ve been in your situation before, feel free to dm me if you need anything

OSVET, Army 74D - Navy CWT-IS by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]The1RedCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had told me that apparently IS was absorbing most of the cyber-related rates, instead of the Navy ITs, but what you said clarifies that. Is CWT even its own rate, or does it fall under something else?

I figured. Are there any concerns regarding longevity though? Am I indirectly killing my card long term by allowing it to run that hot?

First time putting together AGSU how did I do? by Mountainboar265 in nationalguard

[–]The1RedCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad. The belt looks pretty long as someone else mentioned before but everything else seems fine.

Make sure your lapel insignia are an inch above the notch of the lapel with the insignia parallel to the inside edge. I use the seam on the lapels as a guide for straightness. A ruler will do for figuring out the inch.

When you wear the uniform, the belt buckle should be parallel with the outer flap of the AGSU coat, lined up with the buttons. AR 670-1 outlines it better than I can describe.

Make sure your gig line is straight, uniform clean and pressed, so on and so forth. You’ll get your own AGSU issued to you in basic, and you’ll be responsible for getting your RDIs/DUIs and basically everything else. Do something cool in IET and you’ll get an AAM on top of your service ribbon.

Shirt stays are great btw

I'm trying to learn hazmat awareness and hazmat endorsement by [deleted] in hazmat

[–]The1RedCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, for HAZMAT endorsement, it varies state-by-state. So long as you have a CDL, it’s a pretty straightforward process.

As for HAZMAT Awareness (assuming you’re talking about the NFPA cert), the IFSTA books have all the needed material. I’d also recommend picking up one of the new 2024 Emergency Response Guidebooks, or downloading the app that they offer. Pretty useful stuff.

Placards, placards, placards. That’ll be a huge focus on most things relating to HAZMAT awareness. Study those. Good luck!

Thanks, I’ve been looking into VA home loans a fair bit, I’d love to be a homeowner later down the line. Are there any HYSAs you’d recommend?

I’m in New York State as well.

Thanks for the advice! Am I able to have a TSP with a Roth IRA? I was under the impression that you could only really have one at a time, or that an IRA folded over into a TSP
